  1. Fair call - but it's a cover, not an arrangement, so it's probably going to be conservative by definition. The EWI tracks aren't looped, but the vocal percussion is (every 30 seconds-ish). Thanks for listening!
  2. Hey everyone, Here's my latest multitrack cover, a piece that should be familiar to everyone I'd imagine I'd love to hear what you think, positive or negative.
  3. Hey everyone, I'm starting to gradually work on larger projects with the multitrack recordings I make. Jumping from 3 tracks with a NES title to 8 for a Genesis one makes things a lot more interesting. This is the Special Stage music from the first Sonic the Hedgehog on Genesis (Megadrive). As always, comments and feedback are appreciated!
  4. Thanks for the feedback I know what you mean by the lack of percussion, even if the original track had no percussion it's a bit harder for it to stand on its own now. I'm looking forward to getting a drum kit involved for future ones!
  5. Hey everyone, I just finished another multitrack cover, this time it's the main theme (not the title music, but the fight music) from Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! on the NES. Any comments or feedback are always appreciated! http://youtu.be/_dgQM6nLp88
  6. Hey everyone, I just finished another EWI cover, this time it's the Forest theme (it goes under different names, as far as I can tell, such as 'Lost Woods') in A Link to the Past. Any comments or feedback are always appreciated!
  7. Hey everyone, I just finished another multitrack cover and I'd love for you to have a listen. Any comments or feedback always appreciated! This time it's 'Kraid's Lair' from the original Metroid: Cheers, hope you enjoy it!
  8. Yep, pretty much. It's an Akai EWI 4000s, and while they do have full midi connectivity they've also got an inbuilt synthesis module with direct stereo line out, which is what I'm using here. Thanks heaps for listening!
  9. Thanks mate, I appreciate you listening. The EWI is an instrument I'm still struggling to find a proper home for - multitrack covers at least sound texturally cohesive but it's difficult to make a convincing mix with anything else. I'd really love to make some arrangements that do a bit more than cover source material, but on the other hand, I have a great respect for the way people like Smooth McGroove are able to venerate the source material by presenting it verbatim (albeit with more expression!).
  10. Hi everyone, I just finished putting together this multitracked EWI recording of 'Forest of Illusion' from Super Mario World. More a cover than a remix, I'd really welcome any feedback or comments from people! Cheers!
  11. Hi everyone, I just finished putting together a multitracked recording of the 'Village' theme from SNES SimCity, using EWIs (Electronic Wind Instruments). This isn't a remix in the same sense that most of tracks on these forums and site are, since it's just a straight transcription from the original source SPC, but I'm sure some people here might find it interesting. I would welcome any comments or feedback! It is on youtube here: Thanks for listening!
  12. Hi! I've been producing a few transcriptions of 8-bit tunes which I record on the EWI (Electric Wind Instrument) as multitracks. While these are video game related, I thought it most appropriate to post them in the originals section of the forums as they're not remixes, just straight transcriptions of the original source material. Here are several: Marble Madness (NES) 'Beginner' - Ghosts 'n Goblins (NES) 'Level 1' - Tetris (Gameboy) 'Theme A' - While it's not a multitrack, I've also done a rendition of the Ballad of the Windfish from Link's Awakening: I would love to hear what people think of these, or if anyone has any advice on helping to reach a larger audience. Thanks!
  13. One of Darkesworde's main criticisable features is lack of variety and the repeat of material that grows stagnant. This piece however has interest kept up all through it, and a very fresh feelas new parts are added or swapped. Clever instrumentation.
  14. This is such a fantastic piece in terms of arrangement - all patches rock, and it is fairly creative as a funk\jazz arrangement. I love it - the bassline really does rule!
  15. Incredibly well mastered. Very well worked. I love it when songs use abstract instrumentalisation and pull it off, so I'm impressed. Keep 'em coming
  16. I actually prefer this to SGX's version. Creates an epic kind of feel, yet remains calm. Good choice of patches.
  17. I loved the pizzicatos, a high quality patch right there. The breakbeaty stuff is full quality. Very good indeed. Another quality mix from Scott. Not genre defining, I didn't crap myself with joy at listening to it, but a very good mix in it's own right, and a quality take with orchestration on the original.
  18. I found it odd that M.Bison in streetfighter was hardly as hard as blanka on 8 stars. I mean blank could could move anyway practically invincibly whenever he wants, so whenever you tried to do anything the game would just say 'Nah, I don't think so" and he'd slog you in the head. Bitch.
  19. I think a song from Altered Beast with such serious yet cool stylings is rare. A very well done job here to orchestrate it, I can't find anything to fault it. Very good work coop.
  20. I love this, the overpowering guitar chords are really fun and the ska type takeover later on shows some very funky effects. A very listenable mix. I'd give it probably9.5\10 because I really loved the heavy hitting but nice rhythms of the chord patterns in the first half, which are reminiscent of some of the tracks out of sonic adventure 2. Very nice, and as DJP put it, the first half does sound a lot like greenday, don't agree with the Frank Sinatra bit though
  21. This techno remixing at it's best. Great sounds, very high energy but keeps the awesome tune of the original. Fantastic, you have to download it!
  22. I love this piece, it tells a story of a battle, but at the same time, just goes nuts. Very out there, very original, and gets 10\10 for the aliens reference alone
  23. I know I'm just adding to what countless others havesaid but I think this is easily djp's best work on the site and quite possibly the best sonic song on this site to boost.
  24. wow, I really like the bleepy retro effects....very solid, maybe a little long winded, but very very cool
  25. Just beautiful. Gecko's sid of rage was my previous 2nd fave on here (1st being badass posse, seeing a pattern here?) and this doesn't let the standards slip at all. Very nice, good character, not much I can pick up on.
