I recently was asked by a friend to transition the original 8bit Zelda music from the game into my own buildup into this unknown artists drop. I want to give credit to the artist for the meat of the song, but I have no idea who made it. https://soundcloud.com/atiomusic/legend-of-zelda-dj-atio-remix

Military-Style Marching Drums?
DjATIO replied to TheGreatAnansi's topic in Music Composition & Production
East west quantum leap has some epic sounding snare drum ensembles and single snares. Also you get top notch orchestral and wind instruments. It may be limiting for DCI snare drum lines but I believe it can do the job if you just want some simple stuff. Not to mention the Wagner bass drum is pretty ominous as well. -
Well done though, man. Wish I could give any criticism but I can't bring that I'm a horn guy. Haha.
-
Not exactly a percussionist, but marched DCA for a season. I thought with what little you had to work with as far as rhythmic variation in the song (in the first video), you made it interesting by creating new accents. And interesting hearing your interpretation of the melody using rhythmic melody. This would be really cool to hear with a horn line and auxiliary percussion. Is it for anything in particular?

Got some inspiration while listening to skyrim and various other orchestral music. So I decided to record my vocals and guitar over some orchestral instruments. https://soundcloud.com/atiomusic/servitude

Thanks man, I'm still waiting on the judges decisions; As I have done as much on it as I can. The hard drive that I had the FL file crashed, so i'd have to completely start fresh if i were to do more on it. In the meantime, I may work on some more FFX stuff (zanarkand) in the future! -Anthony

This is amazing, great work man. love the bridge with all the extensions. Nice reharm bro. killer stuff. -
Hey all, Here's my take on Zanarkand. Thoughts appreciated. https://soundcloud.com/anthony-higham/ffx-to-zanarkand-wip-atio-remix

Thanks, man. I will finalize the song soon by tweaking a few things, like Eq/levels... Maybe add a few things melodically/harmonically/rhythmically to my liking and see what you all think about it, then submit soon.

thank you! I will continue to perfect it. LATEST UPDATE: https://soundcloud.com/anthony-higham/wall-market-update-2

My intention on this track is to make it my own but to also sound somewhat like the original, say, if a metal band were to play it at a show. I did alter some of the chords, and melody. But at the same time, respecting the basic harmonic structure of the song as well as the melodic structure. If you change both the melody and harmony underneath at the same time for too long, it can become unrecognizable.

Alright, so I think i did what you guys said.. take a listen and see for yourself! Added some saturation to the drums using Limiter, also fixed the buildup and ending. I think I'm done working on this one for tonight. Hope everyone had a good New Years! https://soundcloud.com/anthony-higham/wall-market-update-2

Thanks for the input. I am assuming by, "synth" you are referring to the rhythm synth? or are you talking about the Lead melody synth? I Did double track the rhythm guitar and panned 100% to each side. Perhaps the rhythm synth being slightly delayed to the left is interfering with the harmonic frequencies of the guitar.

Thank you ALL for your valuable critiques. I have been working hard at implementing all of the advice given. I altered the melody a bit, but mainly to address dissonance due to some re-harmonization in the chord structure. I also subbed the drums to a full kit rather than just a kick snare and hi-hat, and added rhythmic variations/fills (not as much copy paste). I EQ'd the re-verb bus so that it didn't have so much mid-range harmonics sticking out.. Let me know what you all think and I welcome any and all comments! -DjAtio https://soundcloud.com/anthony-higham/ffvii-wall-market-update

Thanks, necrox. It is still pretty bones, and I will consider adding maybe some subtle variation. I think the tempo is close if not the same as the original song. perhaps the song seems a little more andante (for lack of a better word) on the game because it has less going on rhythmically. I will have to look into that more, but thanks again for your insight.

Hey everyone, Hope you all had a great Christmas. Packers own. Anyways, I thought I might post something on here, since I haven't in a while and showed some stuff I've been working on. I have been really busy with school and stuff, so I haven't had a lot of time to be writing electronic music so much outside of my music theory and arrangement classes. I thought I might show you something I have done this Christmas break. Enjoy! http://soundcloud.com/anthony-higham/its-not-about-me

Thank's nonamer, that's my goal!

Thank you! I see it on the list like 3rd from the bottom as you mentioned. I appreciate you taking the time to help me out!

Hey guys, how do i become an artist or get an artist profile? I am assuming i must have a remix submission accepted to get one? Sorry if it seems like a dumb question which is why I am on the "newbie's" section haha i have sent in a remix a month and a half ago and haven't gotten a response. I am guessing it's because i submitted it before having an account with ocremix. So i resent it after i made an account.. Its annoying that it takes so long to have it just listened to. But anyways if someone from the judging staff reads this, please go to i love you ocremix thanks!

Does it matter which minor?
DjATIO replied to Nabeel Ansari's topic in Music Composition & Production
I think if you have vox in the song, consider which key is best for the performer. Otherwise, most people will not notice. If there is guitar, e minor is easier in standard tuning, d min is good for drop D tuning. Otherwise, it doesnt matter.. Try modulating the key back and forth to find out which one you like more.
