  1. Ah, I see so if I'm going to want very distinctive styles it's going to kind of like buying pedals for guitars. Not at the moment, but probably in another 6 months or so.
  2. Hey guys, I'm interested in getting a DAW soon but I have a few questions. I have a limited budget and don't want to spend more then 200 dollars, unless you guys can recommend something for free as long as it isn't torrented or anything, I still want to support companies if there are no good free DAW options, yeah I heard Garage Band is free but I don't own a Mac (not sure if Windows can even run Garage Band) So far I've only looked at Reaper and FL Studios 12 Fruity Edition, Reaper is 60 bucks under the discounted section under the first stipulation which I think I qualify for: "You may use the discounted license if:You are an individual, and REAPER is only for your personal use, or You are an individual or business using REAPER commercially, and yearly gross revenue does not exceed USD $20,000, or You are an educational or non-profit organization" FL Studio 12 Fruity Edition is only around 100 bucks, which sounds good to me. I'm not sure who wouldn't qualify for the first segment if you're not in a band or whatever. It sounds kind of vague to me. Now my main question isn't which DAW is considered the highest quality as I'm a total noob. My main question is what DAW can I get for a relatively cheap price that has the most VST plugins and instruments? Basically I want to have as large a variety as possible for the lowest possible price. I know there are free VST plugin sites, so ideally I would want a DAW that allows me to use those publically available plugins. Lastly I would like to know if there are any synth or chiptune VSTs available for free on said DAWs, specifically ones that sound similar to the 16 bit SNES era leaning more towards the Megaman X series and Castlevania series, although the Genesis has an awesome soundchip too. Thanks in advance for any responses and sorry if some answers may seem obvious like I said I'm a total noob with no DAW or music experience, literally all I do is practice chords and use my rand hand for simple melodies.
  3. Nice song, I assume you did it. It sounds familiar is that from Fist of the North Star?
  4. Sounded good to me, I would cut the first thirty seconds if it were me though. That's just because I like music to make a point fast. I like it.
  5. Thanks for the responses. Yeah, I def spaced out when it came to MMX5 and Infinity Mijion witht he Final Countdown. That Tony Macalpine guy is def he closest I've heard to a band replicating the instrumental style of the X series so far, especially with the guitar tone. I'm listening to his album where Key to the City came from and it kills.
  6. We all know that the Castlevania's musicical roots can be traced back to classical, romantic or possibly even baroque roots but can still easily be mixed into a metal sound. But what genre of metal would you most likely classify the Megaman X series? Other then generic metal the only thing I can think even kind of resembles MMX is Children of Bodom's Powermetal. The X series is just so upbeat that I think it's the upbeatness is what seperates it from most other metal genres. That and obviously being composed by several people at most and not full blown bands. The above videos lyrics aren't necessarily upbeat but the instruments themselves definitely are. I feel like there are probably japanese bands that are inspired by either the X or Castlevania series that I don't know of. Perhaps synthmetal? Sorry if this topic doesn't belong here but I didn't know where else to put it.
  7. People do it for the status, like buying a Hummer. For my money I would have assumed people here would nerd out buying new music gear rather then a new game system.
  8. I checked out your soundcloud link in your sig and you're electronic stuff is f'in bumpin dude. I think you're really talented at with synth.

Especially that 30 second track, One Way Trip, Shakin' All The Rules and The Asylum.

Thanks! I'm glad you like it!

I noticed you've also been working on some etheral type stuff, you might want to check out Explosions in the Sky, a post rock shoegaze band, Toro Y Moi more on the poppy club side of chillwave, and Tycho, pure ethereal chillwave.

      I don't think they will disappoint you.

  9. You're just being clever. I meant literally made by a computer, and I think you knew that.
  10. Maybe, but that was when cgi was much less advanced then it is now. When I saw computer generated actors I mean even their voices and personalities will be artificial. I'm not saying it's an absolute certainty, but I wouldn't be surprised. Companies always trying to save as much money as possible and whatnot.
  11. I am a fan of meme circle jerks. I'm not sure I would make it the final boss song though, it might work better as a theme on the way to the final boss. Do you have a link to your album or game?
  12. Welp, it's only a matter of time until all actors and models are computer models. Yay.
  13. That's some killer guitar, just the kind I like to hear. Synth is on point too. Also, I feel like the length is just right. I'd put it in.
  14. That nearly made my head explode.
  15. When I think of artsy games, games like Ico, Shadow of the Colossus and Fez come to mind, even Windwaker for it's graphics.
  16. Following you because that song you uploaded was so original, I'm sure I'll see more good stuff from you.

  17. Wow, that, was a really creative piece. May I ask what that blue flute keyboard thingy you were using was?
  18. Anyone who needs a good 80s music fix should check out the youtube channel NewRetroWave, also, check out Lazerhawk's album Shark and Bone. Also, that Simpsons intro is probably the best I've ever seen along with the Rick and Morty one.
  19. For my money the songs that come to mind first from Bowie are Modern Love and Rock and Roll Suicide. I like them both too much to embed just one video so I won't. Sucks he had to go, I skimmed through one of his new Black Star videos the day before I heard he died.
  20. I think it's Internet Explorer 7 and my os is windows 8. Sorry I didn't mention it before. If not IE 7 then whatever comes standard with windows 10, which I did have but decided to downgrade back to 8 because I didn't like 10s interface. I both looked in My PC and used the search function but I have no way of knowing what version it is with a cursory look it just keeps saying it's "Internet Explorer." Eh, it doesn't matter now. I downloaded what I assume is the latest version of Firefox and when I went to the homepage it said it "prevented outdated plug-in adobe flash from running." And it seems all is well now. If anyone else has the same problem just tell them to get Firefox. Thanks for a speedy response anyway.
  21. Hey, I actually joined the site because for whatever reason on my laptop the homepage just freezes and it says Internet Explorer not working and it boots me off the homepage. Maybe if I was using a different browser it wouldn't be an issue? I'm not sure if it's because there's like a video plug-in IE doesn't support or what but just thought I would let everyone know in case other people are having the same problem. It's not a huge deal, but it would be nice to see the latest news and whatnot and not have to go digging elsewhere for it.
