O.O I've cut out high frequencies from instruments with unwanted harmonics, but it never occurred to me to cut out lows from higher frequency instruments. I was considering rewriting the whole thing, and now that you mention it, I will. And again, thank you very much for your helpful feedback. I might actually be able to make this sound right.

Thank you! That was very helpful! I'm actually having sound design issues, as well as problems with mixing. It seems to get muddy too easily. Not sure if this is an issue with the midi file I used to start the mix. Thanks again for the helpful input.

I came up with a (rather violent) verse of my own. Dunno if I should save it for Ice Trap Zone or use it here. Here's some of it. More like industrial than house at this point, but what else I could say the other guys who have commented have said. I like the music of Sonic, old and new, and I hope you'll do this one justice.

Especially the stomp. It sounds a bit funky, but I'm not sure what to do about it. I plan to work more on the high end of the percussion. The hats are a bit repetitive. That's what's up. You have complete control over the content with the lyrics and structure, even if I have to rearrange the instrumental and rewrite the hi hats to accommodate the verses. And, if you want, I can sing a chorus, with or without autotune

@The Nikanoru yes, I do plan rapping for this track. Unfortunately, I'm no lyricist, so I'm hoping for some help as far as that goes. @noTuX I don't think so. The only samples I used were the percussion, 808 bass and those riser fx leading out of the intro. Everything else was VST instruments. @Smooth4lyfe1987 I dunno why the intro should be "in your face." I like it when a song builds up a little bit from the beginning. Thank you for the feedback! Definitely going to pump the bass a bit harder, as the guy who suggested this remix said the same thing... But, could you please clarify "midi-ish" for me? Is it one or more of the instruments, or just too much reverb? Or both?

Aww, I knew I would screw up on something. Now that you mentioned that, I realize that I put the beep boops in the beginning in the key of F when everything else is G minor. Technically not out of key, but still, I did it wrong. Thanks for pointing that out. And you're right. Those claps are off a little bit. I intend to change drum samples when I'm done with the arrangement. Thank you very much for your input. It helped a lot. I appreciate it. Thank you, Slimy. I've paid a visit to that page and tried all available options before coming here. Some of those appear to do nothing, while others only act as regular compressors (no sidechain). I guess I'll just wait for 8.

Exactly as the title states. Looking for a good sidechain VST for Mixcraft that won't cost me anything. I want to give my drum kick room to breathe inside the bass, and likewise on the midrange and treble. Even if I have to use it as input-output on two tracks at a time. Mixcraft is weird like that.

Maybe you could point me to some free VSTs that do the trick? M- Theory doesn't like being used in Mixcraft :/

The midi instruments in Mixcraft just suck ass. I usually download VSTs for whatever kind of music I want to make (only free ones), but there doesn't seem to be anything for orchestral music, so I'm stuck with the default midi instruments in Mixcraft for that purpose. Other than that, it's pretty good and easy to use.
