If it needs an album, maybe a request could work to the public. I can't argue it's a really great soundtrack. As far as Midi's goes. This one was easy, because it's really melody, bass and a noise channel (Or as i call it, the drums). For me, the earlier the system, for easier it is...honestly, despite the fact that some NES soundtracks can be a pain to transcribe, because of the instrumentation or rhythm. Oh well, the important thing, it's accurate and easier to work with. Good luck on your entry anyways.

I know right, it's a classic game. Thanks anyways!

If it helps, i made an alternative MIDI for Godzilla. I believe Brundeslang said the MIDI was quite hard to arrange, so er yeah...here ya go. It's now in the actual tempo, includes percussion parts (Or the noise channel), and has everything quantized to the right beat. Not that you have to use it or anything. It's there if you need it. https://www.vgmusic.com/file/eed8035d336f9bfca5f50744cc7f2305.html#disqus_thread

Hello all and welcome to the fifth edition of Spin the Wheel! A fun way to showcase appreciation of soundtrack based music in Video Games! Today's video game to remix is here! Be sure to read the rules here! This is to help brush your knowledge about the compo! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Mob5N8UXluhNAUol5mZVyX5yAwUYuAY6KDaPpFzh5Oo/edit?usp=sharing Current games in the wheel: Last weeks winners was unfortunately me, because of a lack of participants. Below is the list of games, updated as of today. The ones in blue are my choices i made. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Mob5N8UXluhNAUol5mZVyX5yAwUYuAY6KDaPpFzh5Oo/edit?usp=sharing The Wheel in Action! https://imgur.com/a/C5V3C5p Lets SPIN THE WHEEL! Looks like it's PC! The random game that was chosen is....... Jazz Jackrabbit Download available MIDI files here! https://www.vgmusic.com/music/computer/microsoft/windows/ Search Jazz Jackrabbit using Ctrl + F! This game lists a shit ton of midi files, to remix with! At least over 30 midis. Listen to the Soundtrack: Information about the Game and Soundtrack: Jazz Jackrabbit is a series of video games created by Epic Games (Began as Epic MegaGames before shortening the name years later). The games were somewhat successful despite it not being that popular and gained a cult following...or at least had a fanbase. No other games exist after the 2002 Self Titled GBA game. Weather there are other games i do not know, but i do know it was scored by Alexander Brandon, the main composer of the series, if anything the only composer, as only 3 games were released (That does not count the unreleased 3D game). The game were focusing on is the first game. It involves a green rabbit named Jazz (Great name) who is sent by the king to rescue the princess and stop the evil Devan Shell who wants to take away the powers of the hares and makes them weaker. It's pretty much the Hare and Tortoise story, if your familiar, but with a Damsel in Distress and...er..fantasy elements. The music scored by Alexander Brandon combines elements of Techno and Synthpop with Funk influences, and also Kraftwerk styled Electro pieces. It's not an innovative score, but it is a damn memorable groovy soundtrack, and also surprisingly one of the rare games back in the days of PC not to use MIDI. (The instrument sounds not the data.). All in all it's a really good score. Compo starts Today at 16th March 2019! and finishes at 30th March 2019! Voting begins on the 30th March 2019 and finishes on the 6th April 2019. I will inform you who has won on the thread! Please submit a valid mp3 file, in decent quality that is less than 20mb. It must be easy to access and download. A ThaSauce page will be set up soon, so if you can then submissions. It's been an on/off situation with ThaSauce, so SoundCloud is a good choice if ThaSauce isn't working for you. Right now nothing is set up, so submissions will have to be external from this thread, via download links, or streaming services. I recommend using SoundCloud as a choice of service! Add a link here on this thread, if you can. You have 2 weeks to mix! Let's see what you have come up with! Good Luck! I won last time, and as such can only participate with a bonus mix!

PRC388 - Arrival of the Anubis (Jet Force Gemini)
TheVideoGamer replied to Bundeslang's topic in Competitions
For starters you submitted on ThaSauce, so it seems you have a good grasp on how things work. Second of all, you posted on the forum, so..er..honestly i think that's all you need to do. Do check this forum to see who wins, as some people won't always use ThaSauce to vote, and that might only count for the main votes. As far as everything else goes, you've done the main bits on this Compo. If you want to have remixes approved and submitted on this website (Excluding forums, which is slightly more easier as they rely more on general public consensus, and no so much professional quality, than emailing them a submission), then you might want to try someone else. All i know on this topic, is they are extremely strict about quality, even down to the finest details. So be warned about that. But on a less serious note, hi i'm TheVideoGamer and i will try and be your tour guide for today...or next week...or whenever i can. lol. -

Yeah i'n having problems with voting, it comes up with a blank page after i submit. If anyone else has this problem, then we need to shoot em a message. If not it might just be me. Is anyone else having this issue by any chance? Update: It works now, must be a new update. -
See you soon. Hope you don't pass out from drink, that can be nasty. But as I say, hope all goes well. Take care.
-
Interesting, but now that you’ve mentioned it, it does make sense. I should have said this a couple days ago but well done lol. Oh well let’s see what you come up with.
-
Only one entry submitted, so a 2 day extension is added! Lets try and get some submissions in!
-
Only 9 hours to go! Let's see what you guys come up with
-
Got my vote in. It was actually easy, because nobody was trying to make good music.
-
Wow so organised

You don't have to remix all the sources. We are fine with one source. The aim here is to make something bad, like far from a profession studio mix. So mainly comic values, bad mixing and production. Be as loud as possible, and pick the most abrasive synths and instruments to use in your mix. We are doing this to give you the choice. Personally i wouldn't panic, because there is a few days left anyways, and we are not taking this one as seriously as the others. Good luck to you anyways!
-
No worries, I haven’t forgotten about you, if you have entries It will be featured in the next round. You have plenty of time anyways, as ThaSauce is down at the moment. To all participants: Since ThaSauce is down, I’m grateful to add an extra week to get submissions in. If ThaSauce still doesn’t work, then use this thread for the time being, and we will await the fix. Bearing in mind 1 week is not a requirement, and the actual deadline will close about 1 week of ThSauce’s repair. Sorry for the inconvenience folks and good luck to you all!
-
Seems fair to add an extension since ThaSauce is off at the moment and that might reduce time to remix a source. As for you, i hope you make a swift recovery. Thanks anyways.
-
Looks like ThaSauce is down. Nothing shows up apart from an error message, regardless of which page i go to.
-
Often the most controversial topic, as there are so many ways to approach it. Even i get some things wrong, and end up with a poorly produced mix. If you really want some tips, i'd suggest you try this topic, as many people provide some great ideas. It might not work for you, but give it a shot, it could come in handy. Oh well, good luck. You really do have the potential to make great music. Again i'm no expert, and i get things wrong, but i'd thought i give my two cents.

Entry submitted. Let's hope there is more to come!

Hello all and welcome to the fourth edition of Spin the Wheel! A fun way to showcase appreciation of soundtrack based music in Video Games! Today's video game to remix is here! Be sure to read the rules here! This is to help brush your knowledge about the compo! https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Mob5N8UXluhNAUol5mZVyX5yAwUYuAY6KDaPpFzh5Oo/edit?usp=sharing Current games in the wheel: Last weeks winners was Ronald Poe! Sadly he was unable to provide me with 6 games to put into the wheel, so we will continue as normal. If by the off chance he does send me some games, i will use this for the next round. Despite the fact i haven't got any games from him, he can still only participate with a bonus mix, but has a vote that counts twice! The ones highlighted in blue, was the recent choices made for the wheel (2 rounds ago) https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Mob5N8UXluhNAUol5mZVyX5yAwUYuAY6KDaPpFzh5Oo/edit?usp=sharing The Wheel in Action! https://imgur.com/a/NcRf19K Lets SPIN THE WHEEL! It landed on NES for a change! The random game that was chosen is....... Silver Surfer! Download available MIDI files here! https://www.vgmusic.com/music/console/nintendo/nes/ Search Silver Surfer! using Ctrl + F! This game lists 5 midi files, to remix with! There is sufficient material to remix this score. The soundtrack itself has roughly 6 remixable songs in the score. Listen to the Soundtrack: Information about the Game and Soundtrack: Silver Surfer is a video game released on the NES in 1990 by a company named Software Creations. While not a fantastic game, with heavily divided opinions on weather it's good or not, it did showcases a rather difficult learning curve, and of course a high amount of praise for it's music, which is often considered one of the best in the Systems catalogue. Based on the Marvel character of the same name, it features the Silver Surfer as he trails through different levels shooting enemies and fighting a boss, just like any other standard shooter. It wasn't innovative, and many cite it as the worst in terms of gameplay. It's not the worst game ever, otherwise the music would also add to the experience, and of course many people claim it to be the best on the NES. The sound was done by Geoff and Tim Follin, often claimed to be the best in the Oldskool video game sound department, making countless memorable soundtracks loved by people. They are brothers, and often work together or go there separate ways depending on what happens. The music is a combination of some classic chiptune rock n roll, and occasional synthpop, acid house/techno pieces like in the title screen. They used all 5 channels and managed a rather impressive selection of sounds without the use of PCM, something many people are most impressed by. Compo starts Today at 15th February 2019! and finishes at 1st March 2019! Voting begins on the 1st March 2019 and finishes on the 8th March 2019. I will inform you who has won on the thread! Please submit a valid mp3 file, in decent quality that is less than 20mb. It must be easy to access and download. A ThaSauce page will be set up soon, so if you can then submissions.
