  1. After all the edgy, guitar-crunchin' remixes of F-Zero and its kin out there (even from Nintendo itself), LousySpy manages a tremendous mindf*ck. Riiiiiiiight, I can really imagine Capt. Falcon cruising at X00 kmph with the sun roof down and Samurai Goroh sippin' pina coladas....
  2. OMG I wish there were an intro-less version. My only gripe. Excellent interpretation of the theme, and great job on the live instruments! Definitive OC remix indeed....
  3. Wow. This remix floored me, personally. The song feels very, very... urban, for the lack of a better word. Not quite ghetto, but definately modern. Strong feelings and visions of a modern-day ActRaiser are evoked. Cuz I mean, how cool would an ActRaiser game in a modern setting be? Grittier than SimCity, but nobler than Grand Theft Auto 3.... Yeah, DJ Pretzel, you have me dreaming.
  4. WOOOOOOOO!!!! I have one thing to say: try singing in a robot monotone "dance like a robot and kill shit" while listening to this. A thoughtful, deliberate, and even tasteful sonic ass-kicking. Woo yay.
  5. This remix is one of my preferred Mega Man remixes. It's frenetic, which I think capture's the game's mood properly. Remixer AE is great at what he does, but I think he could take a lesson in staying power from EvilHorde.
  6. "This is a great mix from Wingless." That should be enough of an endorsement! Anyway, Wingless again manipulates his instruments into a greater-than-the-sum-of-it's-parts remix. At times thoughtful and serene, at others purposeful and with calculated intent, this song is a great reputation-establisher for Wingless.
  7. The Wingless instantly made his way into my OC ReMix heart with this one! The piano "water-rippling" effect was, as orkybash sez, perfect without being overdone. Recommended usage: make-out song
  8. I don't know a finer Tetris remix. Many have tried their hands, and Lord knows a number of fine reproductions have come out, but McVaffe just pulls some crazy shit on this one. McVaffe has a heck of a reputation for manipulating games' original SFX (see the Castlevania sound mix on VGMix.com), and it really shines hear. The SFX-break at 1:30 is an instant classic! The song makes it's way back with a great piano segue, and then it all comes down. Yay!
  9. I have to agree whole-hearedly with pollard on this. I fell in love with the track for a few days long ago. Most of the instruments lack the "human" touch, but that shouldn't be a problem for people who love listening to NES bleeps-and-bloops. The piano does a more-than-decent job of making up for it anyways. Props for the interpretation; jazz and Zelda are an unexpected duo, yet not entirely unfitting.
  10. Much love for McVaffe and his classical arrangements of some great songs! Songs like this and "Cutman Sonata" from Mega Man really make me wish people did more of this kind of stuff. If I were more musically educated, perhaps I could point out what differentiates this from, say, Dale North. I think North's music is more "lush," where as this is more, ummm, lonely and ethereal, to steal pollard's wordage. It's a yin-and-yang balance. And McVaffe knows damn well how to RePrAzEnT his side.
  11. I must say, the song is simplistic and repetitive. Therein lies it's insane charm. There's just enough to keep it lively, and it's not like it's grating repetition. Addictive and poppy, not repulsive and poopy. Odd praise for el po, but praise nonetheless. One of my first favorites from this site...
  12. Orkybash, the word you're looking for is pensive. I don't know this game, so I don't know if this is the mood the game is supposed to evoke. Then again, I love LousySpy's "Blue Vacation," which is a bastardization of the bleeding-edge guitar-wailing love of F-Zero, so I can't say this would be much of an impediment for me. Anyways, yes, this song is all suspense, no climax. I don't see that as a problem. What this song does, it does damn well. Whether or not you like what it does is up to you. As for me, I'll chalk up another one for Malcos.
  13. I luv this mix too. It's a chill-out for all seasons. Except maybe Winter. The initial rain is nice and gentle. It reminded me of McVaffe/Quasikaotich's Castlevania "Tempest" remix in form, yet it's completely opposite in function. The drums are mellow and stay out of your way as the flute and guitar give you a rubdown.... Maybe I'm getting too physical with my speakers. But I'm relaxed, dammit, to hell with what other people think...
