  1. I just bought it! Halc music is awesome, and awesome is totally worth paying for. Keep it up, you 9-bit madman.
  2. Yay, the one hat I actually have will actually work properly now!
  3. Rarity does not equal balance. If something's "awful", then it's awful no matter how long it takes to get -- because there will always be people willing to put the time in to get whatever overpowered-but-its-okay-its-really-hard-to-get thing is included in the game.
  4. I've got two festive crates but no keys for them. If someone has keys to trade, or wants to trade me for the crates, let me know here or on the IRC channel. Normally I wouldn't bother "advertising" like this, but since they apparently go poof tonight, I figured I might as well. No sense letting them go to waste.
  5. I got a Flipped Trillby from my festive crate! I feel it's worth noting that this is the only non-event hat I have, because the hat gods hate me. And it appears to be broken -- in-game, it's an eye-searing white instead of its normal color. I have no idea if I got a painted one somehow, or if it's just bugged. It's still the best scout hat, though.
  6. Some real douchebaggery in this thread. The man worried about having a roof over his head and when he asks if anyone can help out, people give him shit for it. That's crap. Even if that's what you think of his situation, keep it to your fucking self. Lectures over the internet aren't gonna help him find a place to sleep. I wish I could help, Mirby, but I'm broke myself and on the wrong side of the country. Best of luck landing on your feet and keep us in the loop with your situation.
  7. Sounds a hell of a lot like the first ten seconds of from Chrono Cross to me.
  8. And the user is allowed to post a counterclaim if they want. If your video isn't infringing (which obviously depends on the video -- just straight up postings of music wouldn't count, but lots of things on YouTube fall under parody or fair use), you're allowed to contact YouTube after it's been removed and tell them to put it back up. I don't actually know what the process for accomplishing that is, but it is written into the law. After that, YouTube is officially in the clear -- if the copyright holder wants to make an issue of it after that, they have to take the user to court.
  9. YouTube is legally required to take down anything on their site if they receive a copyright complaint about it. Current copyright law provides protection for sites hosting user content -- the users, rather than the site, is held responsible for infringing content... as long as the site immediately takes down any content that they're told is infringing by the copyright holder. The user is then allowed to contest the removal, but the site HAS to take it down IMMEDIATELY upon recieving the complaint or they themselves become liable for the infringement. So basically, YouTube has to nuke anything they get complaints about unless they want to get sued into oblivion.
  10. It's.... uh, on my gamefly list? I even cleared everything else out so they'll ship me a copy as soon as one's available.... which probably still won't be for a while. Seriously though, I've become unable to buy anything without Gameflying it first. (HELP ME.)
  11. I think even save points are for suckers. I demand that games go back to having no progress-saving method whatsoever but for passwords. The use of passwords is the mark of a REAL gamer. If it takes utterly random 30-character alphanumeric strings to pull it off, then so be it. Otherwise it's not hardcore enough.
  12. FACT. The worst part is that it takes so fucking long. There are entire movies the length of MGS4's ending cutscene. Literally. It's 90+ minutes.
  13. Awesome stuff, just saw it on my Youtube subscription. Looking forward to it!
  14. 24/50 here. Had the same trouble as other people what with not being able to figure out all the various variations of titles in franchises I was thinking of.
  15. So, wait, you claim that old stuff is superior because they couldn't claim to "wow" you with superior realistic graphics. Gecko posts some examples of old stuff attempting to "wow" people with superior realistic graphics. You reply by saying "yep, exactly, I love old stuff". There's nothing wrong with preferring old stuff to new stuff, but you're not doing a very good job of convincing anyone that there's a rational reason behind it.
  16. Because nostalgia and the tendency to forget the unmemorable portion (ie 99% of) such things has nothing to do with it.
  17. Yes. I tend to drop stuff in my queue when I hear about something that interests me. And then, a while later, it shows up and I get to play it! If it turns out to suck, I send it straight back and get something new. If I like it, I'll keep it until I beat it. If I really like it, I'll buy it from them (and they send out the box and manual and such to go with the disc you already -- though this isn't available for all games). Also good is getting older games that you never got a chance to try when they were new -- Gamefly's stock goes back to PS2, Gamecube, Xbox, and GBA, not just the newest generation of consoles. Their selection is pretty good, and (unlike any Blockbuster or equivalent I've tried), I've never had a problem with damaged discs and the like. I <3 my Gamefly account.
  18. New one facestabs only, no backstabs. It looks identical to the normal knife and there's no message on death when a spy is using it. Because spies are secretive like that.
  19. I totally do this too. Using the number keys for weapons seems really really weird to me.
  20. That's what I thought, too. The biggest threat to engies are spies, ubers, and stickies -- and since they're certainly not going to nerf ubers or stickies, it'd be sorta nice if the engy got something that helped out against spies. Something that DOESN'T suck as hard as the razorback, by preference.
  21. Holy crap that's awesome. Yoshi's Island is the best game ever.
  22. The vibe that I got was that, being insect-y, the aliens had something of a hive mentality. Not necessarily a full on psychic hive mind sort of thing, but at least a very hierarchical mindset. The leaders tell you what to do, and you do what the leaders tell you, and everything runs like it should. But if there was some sort of accident/disaster/whatever that killed off most/all of the leadership, then the whole thing collapses, because your drones have very very limited initiative. "Christopher Johnson", in this idea, would be either one of the few surviving leaders or else a drone that developed more initiative than his fellows due to the situation. Either way, he'd probably hide his status (rather than attempting to take control of the drones) to avoid becoming a target for the humans.
