  1. I love the dirtiness of this mix. The shredding sound of the supporting guitar really crawls up and down my spine whenever I listen to it.

when I first heard the track, I thought it could possibly use some beefing up in the latter sections with a rock organ like the original track had, and the lead did sound a little sloppy at times. But the track really grew on me and I've found myself listening to it on repeat at work. Definitely a gem from DQD. A huge kudos goes out to Evil Horde for picking up this track and bringing a bit of nostalgia back from DSoP.

  2. Even after reading what there is here about song permissions, I still don't understand how id Software could sell the game with music, yet it's not legal to be put in this remix album.

It's perfectly legal to have it on the album, and we were 100% willing to have it featured on DQD along with the other tracks. The artist in question just had a little temper-tantrum over the incident and ran off with his two mixes by his own choice, leaving those two tracks (Map07 and Map18 ) high and dry with too little time to find other remixers to fill them.

  3. I was wondering, why is this not a whole album? It's awesome as-is, no doubt.

But I was wondering why this isn't a two disc album, maybe multiple mixes or different artists doing the same songs? That would be kickass.

But then there's the whole two and a half plus years. Kinda seems sad that it's *only* 14 tracks after so muchwork?

No matter, though, very awesome all around. Everyone did a great job!

There were originally 16 tracks, however one of the artists pulled his two tracks from the project after he found out that they wouldn't be accepted to OCR due to the copyright issues regarding tracks based on actual rock songs.

There was a lot of work involved, but it was mostly a song-by-song thing, as there was little interest by most people in joining the project, and a lot of the time was spent by myself going "want to do a doom 2 remix?" to everyone on OCR.

  4. Continued patience, my fellow mixers and fans! We are within striking distance of a release. I took this week off work to get it all together and ready.

For those wanting a sight of progress, here is the final tracklist, pending Dave's decision on a title for his mix:

    01 - The Orichalcon - megAsfear

02 - Evil Horde - Running from Evil Horde

    03 - analoq - Adrian's Sleep

    04 - Mazedude - Westside Archvile

    05 - Jovette Rivera - The Countdown

    06 - The Orichalcon - Crushing Headache

    07 - Mazedude - Silent Healer

08 - Big Giant Circles, Flik - Icon of Sinwave

    09 - John Revoredo - 31 Seconds

10 - Mazedude, Ailsean - The End of Hell

    11 - phoenixdk - No Smoking Area

    12 - Evil Horde - The Duel

    13 - djpretzel - Red Waltz

    Bonus - phoenixdk - Ablaze

  5. I listened to them all a while back (1-1500) and touched quite a few people in #ocremix in the process. About 5% of the tracks made it onto my playlist, a lot of them were quirky or good in their own way. But the vast majority were junky and thrown-away. But this was before lockdown 2.0.

Otherwise it's just a matter of taste.

Also, Karl, hop on MSN or IRC. Haven't had a good chat for ages.

  6. Patience. You've waited this long, do you really want us to rush now and stumble over the finish line? I'm making sure this is all actually finished before releasing it. I'm sorry the fans and artists have to wait longer, but it'll be worth it.

Missed your post there, Flik. Your track is fine, I liked it a lot. If you have an issue with it, it's up to you whether you want to change anything in it. But let me know sooner rather than later.

  7. I don't know if this has been mentioned in the last 38 pages, probably so but Mazedude has a Barrels O' fun on here, if they made exception for him doing "them bones" then they should for you guys, either that or remove mazedude's track too.

Was decided a while back that any tracks on the site that already violated that particular rule, but didn't violate any others, would stay. Trust me, I tried using that argument in favour of the forbidden tracks in this project.

  8. The lack of an actual "campaign" has really thrown me off. Multiplayer can be fun, granted, but games that last for hours simply lose their flare. A good LAN game if everyone is willing to commit a good chunk of time -- that is where this game really shines.

Yeah, this seems to be the thing that worries me about the game. However, I find myself playing AOE2 and Battle for Middle Earth for hours without ever touching the campaign. I think even playing single player against an enemy and just working your way up through the difficulty would be fun too.

I haven't had a chance to play yet. Is it possible to save a game and continue it later? Either single player or multiplayer?

On a separate note, I'm very happy with the way Stardock set up and sell their games/programs. Was easy to download, clean install. The program took care of everything.

Has anybody else played or purchased this game? I just bought it today and it's apparently a good game to play multiplayer. Easy to learn, but very difficult to master.

I look forward to spending the weekend learning the game, if anyone else has it, might be fun to team up or play off against each other.
