  1. For anyone who wants a decent Texture Pack, download this one I put together here:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?ugf8rg81oyz42l4

The only texture I did was the stone texture 'cause I didn't like any of the ones I found. The rest is put together from other texture packs I like. There are no textures for hell, so it will screw up your hell textures. I'll update that tomorrow. For now it's good if you only play SMP. Instructions in the archive.

  2. No duping from me this time (not that it worked last time, I lost more than I duped)

    Few things:

    1) Can we have protected areas on this server so our shit won't be destroyer?

    2) Is the map going to be autosaved again?

    3) Are we building a highway again to everyone? I'd like to get the obsidian compass up soon.

  3. You're about to enter a space, possibly rectangular in appearance. Adjacent to a place neighbouring an area of whereness.

    With the nature of wood.

Perhaps it's made out of mahogany.

    Welcome to The Scary Door.

Find enclosed as promised the movie OC ReMix.

    Re: Cast of appearance.

The last man and woman alive, possibly human, are left standing alone amidst a vast wasteland of broken remixes.

Perhaps titled cunningly after the very game of which they are remixed.

They're about to find out the name of the ghostly apparition who appears to be at the apex of deceptiveness behind the destruction of the music. But that's OK.

Then at the last second, everything turns out better than expected.

    djp is Britney Spears.

  4. I kind of liked that people were bunched up. I think there could have been a little more distance between places but, it kind of felt like a community that way. If there's a way to set an area under preservation such that no one is allowed to make changes to it, I'd like to have a really nice, beautiful spawn area; preferably inland.

Something like a central square with a fountain in the middle, and a big compass rose on the ground so there's absolutely no confusion as to where you're headed. From there, set up four highways/roads/paths heading out in each cardinal direction and leading to other points of interest like player homes or creeper temples or large works of art. If a canal system is implemented, make sure it's nice and wide. You can still accidentally bump into walls with our current one. Also, signs. Some big lit up ones—much like BottleRocket's—could be set up over the highways explaining which region you're heading into, and signposts would then detail the specifics of what's in said region.

Here's a quick diagram of what I'm picturing in my mind:

    Minecraft%20Spawn%20Design.png

With a bit of pre-planning and coordination, we can have a scenic and easy-to-travel spawn point that also helps newbies get acquainted with what's where.

Love it. If we can plan, set up and build areas, then put them under protection, I think that'd be awesome.

Also I think we should start compiling a list of names for the Whitelist, so copy this and add yours and anyone else you can think of:

    Orichalcon

    BinJovi

    FerrousCadaver

    AngryItch

    Hemophiliac

There are more I can think of, but can't remember the exact spelling of their nicks, so add yourselves.

  5. I actually agree here, one tiny island -- it could actually be man-made. Maybe have one giant tower on this tiny island that we spawn on, and we can jump off into the ocean without taking damage...

I'd go without the tower. Nothing manmade apart from a couple of signwalls to tell people where to go, putting them under protection. Then people can spread out from there to build.

  6. Slash, when you reroll a map for us, can I suggest you keep rolling until you get one that starts us off on a small island, or on a beach next to the ocean?

It's harder to fuck up the spawn point if it's surrounded by ocean, and it encourages people to move away from spawn to build inland.

  7. how about this in regard to the creeper temple. We'll calculate how much we've cleared so far, and leave it for now. When the new server is up and running, we'll let Slash know how much we've done, and he can clear it out for us and give us the equivelant minerals we stocked up. That way our work isn't wasted, but we're also not cheating to get it redone.

I want to see it finished, and I'd like to see it across on the new server. So maybe bottle and I can stop mining it out for now and wait for the new server. We'll just add it all up until then.

  8. I don't know if anyone here ever played Ultima VIII: Pagan, but that game was full of game-stopping bugs. Funnily enough, it didn't destroy the game.

U8 was similar to Dragon Age, in that you could choose what you say to people, and pretty much control who was involved in the story and who wasn't. The problem is the control went too far. You could kill off main character who were integral to the storyline at some point in the future. You could even kill yourself at one point and return to visit your exploded corpse later on, thanks to a scripted event where you absolutely have to be alive. (You light a bomb in your backpack, then trigger the scripted event. You blow up into chunky pieces halfway through, but miraculously turn up alive in the next scene.)

The game had an inbuilt security system against this bug, but it was easily avoided. If you hurt anyone in the main city (where the storyline integral people roamed) the local sorcerer would show up and brutally slaughter you, and there was nothing you could do about it. But you could avoid this by simply lighting a bomb next to anyone you wanted to kill, then running so they were off-screen when it blew up. When you return, you can click on their corpse and even loot them. You could even do this to the sorcerer himself and he would no longer show up to kick your ass if you misbehaved.

I enjoyed the game more by trying to kill everyone I could while still being able to finish the game. Harder than you think! Luckily you can completely bypass most of the game thanks to a couple of other big bugs.

  9. makes me feel pretty guilty that I'm unable to put as much work into my own project as people that have been lending me a hand with it, I gots no tiems :(

At least half is cleared by now, I'm working my way back from the ladder at the top. But it's getting a bit boring so I'm taking a break to do some creative stuff. Maybe someone else will fill in for me in the meantime. I get the feeling that we can get it all done really quickly if we all chipped in for a day.

  10. we're trying to avoid having any TNT available to the general public so that griefers don't get it. just have fireslash spawn some in on you and use it up before you log off.

He and I are rarely on at the same time. If someone can dupe some and hide it somewhere, then PM me where it's hidden, that'd be great. Or if Fire can spawn me some.

It's taking forever to clear out this 100x100x50 creeper temple, and the TNT cleanly clears out 3x3x3 blocks of 27. So I can go along and clear out an entire row by digging down two blocks every three blocks and placing/arming a TNT block.

  11. New people:

Follow the bridge out to an unoccupied area.

Explore the area to make sure there are no cave entrances people might have made.

Once you're sure, make that your home, then extend the bridge to your new home or request someone else to.

This is to ensure you have plenty of land to work with, and you won't run into anyone else.

  12. How does everyone feel about region naming so we don't get confused now that the world is expanding. Now that the highway makes a full circuit around the main site.

    Currently we have:

    SPAWN

    Contains:

    Spawn point

    Compass

    Prophetikmusic's cocktower

Up to where the northern part of the glass highway starts and everything contained in that little valley there.

    OCR Dragon

    Contains:

    Donut's Dragon

    OCREMIX sign

    Glass highway heading west

    CROSSROADS

    Contains:

    Suicide Jump

    TO's Mine

BottleRocket's lava pyramids and creeper statue

The western part of the highway

    PIRATE COVE

    Contains:

The entire island of the far east with the pirate ship, skeleton mine and cove

TUMBLEFUCK (I heard BD call the area this, can change it)

    Contains:

    BD190's giant treehouse

The southern half of the highway circle.

    BinJovi's Biodome

    OCEAN ISLES (placeholder name)

    Contains:

The small islands and landmarks to the southeast, including the floating continent.

    Fireslash's Castle of Doom (placeholder)

contains the highway heading east and fireslash's castle!

    ATLANTIS

North of the eastern highway section, contains the underwater city of atlantis.

That's all I've really mapped out so far. I'd love to get an overhead map and label each region. What do we all think?
