  1. Still haven't got Sunday pics off, but here's a few I have up:

Loitering near "No Loitering" signs was a common theme.

Posting this before djp gets a chance to shop it.

    Dyne was really good.

That all said, there's a possibility of a mid-July meetup (location TBD), and then Otakon. After that, I'm planning an Ocean City, Maryland meetup. This would probably be a weekend in October. Condos are really cheap to rent there that time of year (a Friday-Monday would be between $40-80 each for 8 people) but I need to know what weekends work best for everyone. Any weekend after Labor Day weekend in September or October is up for grabs, and I'll be deciding by popular vote. Once a date is decided I'm going to need $10-20 from everyone who's coming as a deposit (since I'd need to put a deposit down when reserving).

One example of a place I'm looking at. (This is actually my preferred location, and it seems to be open every weekend in October. It's near the boardwalk, and earlier in October the water should still be warm enough.)

I'll make a separate thread for this soon, but I want to see who's interested here first.

  2. Pixie said you'd be able to, and I just kind of assumed that was still in place. That being said, I'm along the way and if you want to swing by my place and trade a passenger so it's less crowded (and so I don't end up driving up alone and taking 4 hours and 230 miles again). At least let me know what timetable you were planning so I can somewhat plan around that.

  3. The hard drive is probably underneath the keyboard. There's probably a plastic cover that runs underneath the screen (and may also be the same piece as the hinge covers). This is usually held on by one or two screws on the bottom and then by plastic tabs. Look for an indentation, you should be able to pry it up with a fingernail. Be careful when lifting it up as it may also be one piece with the button board/ribbon cable and if you tear that you won't be able to turn it on. Lift it up slowly and if there's a cable attached then detatch that carefully and remove the cover. There should then be a couple screws holding the keyboard down at the top. Unscrew those and gently lift the keyboard once again being careful of the cable. The ribbon cable for the keyboard either connects by a snap-in connector (pry up the edges of the connector with your fingernail) or a "pinch" connector (I don't know the technical term for it) where the end of the cable slides in between two pieces of plastic and is then 'pinched' to stay in place.

Once you have that up you should be able to get to the hard drive. Make sure to slide the drive horizontally and disconnect it completely before lifting it up (so you don't bend the connector or worse, the motherboard).

My job involves repairing laptops so if you have any more questions send me an IM.

  4. Cool guys; have a meet-up when I'm home for summer.

I'll have to echo everyone else with the schedule dealie; there's always the possibility I can sneak back up to the city for that weekend.

I'm driving up the night before, if pixie/zircon don't have a problem with a couple more people both nights I could give a couple rides from Baltimore.

  5. Okay for people coming to the BBQ:

    Address:

    35 Edgemoor Road

    Timonium, MD 21093

Simple directions: Exit I-83 at the Timonium Road exit and head East. If you head into a lot of trees that's the wrong way. Keep going east to York Road (big confusing intersection) and keep going straight until you see a Citgo gas station on the left. It's the first right after that, my house is on the right with a driveway and the number 35 on the lamppost.

Light rail: If anyone's coming by light rail, call me before you get on the train so I can pick you up. You want the Timonium stop.

Phone: 410-905-0165 is my cell, you can also text short messages and questions.

Things should be starting around noon, and going as late as people want to/can stay.
