  1. No I wasn't that guy. I did have that arranged version though. It was ok but that guy did a sloppy job. Some tracks had a second of silence at the start, and he didn't bother looping the adx files, so if the fight dragged on, you had silence to fight to, heh. I did the "Accurate" mixes on those two games. Check my site to more info and video examples.
  2. This is an example of where the sample quality really let a mix down. The arrangement (definitely not a re-arrangement, too similar to the original imo) would have been much better suited to higher quality samples. The drums in particular sounded very mechanical, probably in stark contrast to their true intentions. Things did pick up with the guitar part, but it definitely wasn't enough to bring the level up to the yes standard. I think the mixer should try to invest in some higher quality samples and work on their arrangement skills, as well as adding some personality to their stuff. NO
  3. The samples used here aren't the best I've ever heard. However, the arrangement is excellent, and the ReMix is very dynamic and interesting to listen to. It's due to those two factors that I say YES
  4. The original was really quite simple indeed. I think that this ReMix adds quite a lot to the original, fleshing out and expanding the chord structure (or creating one, depending on how you want to see it). I think that if the mix was longer, some more original compositional ideas could have been added, which would have enhanced the appeal of this piece. It's certainly an enhancement, but I don't think we get to hear enough of the artists own interpretation of the tune. NO (Resubmit)
  5. Hey were you the guy that put alternate tracks into the DC version of Marvel Vs Capcom 2, including the burly brawl track? That was excellent, made the game so much more enjoyable!!!
  6. I have to say Blind and Leifo's Sagat stage and Zicon's Fei-Long stage are my favourite tracks. Everyone put quite a bit of work into the project and I think it's turned out really well. Well I boosted the volume of two of the tracks and converted quite a lot of them into mp3 format. However, there was no final eq'ing applied to any of the tracks, and so there was no real overall engineering as such.
  7. Ok the track order is as follows: Title Screen Here comes a new challenger Blanka Chun-Li T.Hawk DeeJay E.Honda Dhalsim Guile Zangeif Fei Long Cammy Ken Ryu Balrog Vega Sagat M.Bison Akuma Dhalsim Ending Blood on the Asphalt (Shael and Richter's mix) Blood on the Asphalt (Aethurius's mix) Hi Score Ending Credits
  8. There is a track order! I tagged the mp3 files with it when I sent the album to Shael. I'll pm it to you, (or post it here?) Hmm, some delays while this stuff is sorted out, bit of a shame really.
  9. I thought we were torrenting it? I kind of just assumed...
  10. Ok, for the most part my role is complete now. Here is the final tracklist as decided by Shael: Title Screen Here comes a new challenger Blanka Chun-Li T.Hawk DeeJay E.Honda Dhalsim Guile Zangeif Fei Long Cammy Ryu Balrog Vega Sagat M.Bison Akuma Dhalsim Ending Ryu's Ending Blood on the Asphalt (Shael's mix) Blood on the Asphalt (Aethurius's mix) Sound fx Hi Score Ending Credits
  11. I go through different stages all the time, but mostly now I prefer to do originals. Remixes are fun to do once in a while, but you always have the issue of having to be 'true to the source' so to speak. However, when you're short of original ideas remixes can help keep your musical spirit up. With originals of course, you can do what the hell you like - sometimes you can be stuck though and you don't know what the hell to do next.
  12. In real life, if something is finished I have a habit of saying 'CUT!'. Well now this is the time to say CUT! I have 23 tracks, playtime is roughly 1 and a half hours. I'm in the process of making a preliminary tracklist - I should be sending it to Shael sometime today, if not tommorrow at the latest. We'll be working on several things from there, like finalising the playlist, ensuring quality across all tracks (we have to listen to the whole album in order several times), and the fact that he may have some finals I have yet to recieve. Work will then begin on the torrent, etc. As we speak, Richter is working on a website for the project. EDIT: Just to add, the boss themes sound great after each other!
  13. Wicked kool jazz RTF! I've heard a lot of your stuff (obviously, collabing with you several times now I'm proud to say) - I love this track. I salute you for your modesty and the fact that you always strive to get even better. Look out for more of RTF in the upcoming 'Blood on the Asphalt: SF2 remix project'.
  14. No need to send me a wav as well! If you send me the mastered mp3 then that's all I need. If you send me only a wav then that's ok, but mp3 will be the finished product. By the way, it's the 5th of May. Hey that rhymes! Finals as soon as possible please. You have no time left.
  15. What I can say about this track is true about virtually all of the tracks I have recieved - a proper tribute to it's source. This album is gonna kick ass. Weeeeellll...he is the project leader. 19 tracks so far. Check page 37 to see the ones I haven't recieved yet. Tmmrw is...the...deadline!
  16. Biggo problemo! No E.Honda stage? I haven't had any correspondance at all from SpacLock, I'm starting to think that we won't have a Honda track come Friday.
  17. Erm, actually it's Shael's 'Blood on the Asphalt' Yeah I had the idea that it would go something like that! Although I would like the 'here comes a new challenger' to come in the middle of the stage tracks, I wouldn't mind it being where you put it on the list. There definitely will be an order, and track numbering. Just waiting for the Friday deadline to come and go, and hoping that those tracks I haven't yet recieved will come through! After Friday I'll do a preliminary track list and send it to Shael for approval.
  18. Be a sad geek and don't go clubbing, don't smoke, and only drink socially (like me!). Save up for a whole month and don't go anywhere.
  19. Ok, got a couple more tracks in. Just 6 more stages for me to recieve and we'll be good to go! Fingers crossed everyone! I've finished the M.Bison mix, although it's probably not what people will be expecting. By that I mean it's quite different in style to anything I've ever done before. Just to throw an idea out here. Right now the filenames are as such: BotA_a_Tribute_to_Street_Fighter_2_-_Bison_Stage_Tribute_to_the_Master.mp3 Now do you guys think it would be better if we added the artists name in, like this: BotA_a_Tribute_to_Street_Fighter_2_-_Bison_Stage_Tribute_to_the_Master_by_Malcos.mp3 What do you guys reckon? These filenames are gonna end up being REALLY long! Or perhaps just: BotA_-_Bison_Stage_Tribute_to_the_Master_by_Malcos.mp3
  20. Nah, I haven't used it to record any instruments. UB802 mixer? Might add quite a bit of noise to the signal. Perhaps a dedicated mic preamp, depends on your needs. Another thing about getting a good soundcard - much less noise! The reason why I got the ADK A51 is that I heard a lot of good things about it, also heard it was great value. I definitely needed a condenser mic to capture more detail on vocals - it's perfect for that.
  21. I agree with suzumebachi 100%. I've just recently got myself an emu404 after having used a Soundblaster Audigy for a few years. The difference is astounding, I didn't know what I was missing. As for mics, I would say go for the ADK A51 if you're gonna do vocals, I've got one and it sounds a lot better for vocals than the SM58 I was using before. Comparing the two, the A51 gives the vocals a high end sheen and a smoothness on the higher frequencies that the SM58 couldn't capture - no need to eq. I've yet to record a full song with my new soundcard, but wow, it really sounds excellent and makes my mic shine! The weakest link in the chain can spoil everything.
