  1. PSN can update at anytime from 2pm EDT* up to 11pm EDT*...At least, this has been my experience. Given that some big releases are scheduled for this day, it could be a late update.

Alright cool cool, thanks man. Thisis the first time I've actually waited for something to be released on the network, so i had no idea what was going on.

  2. Alright, I didn't dig this remix before, but I have recently really gotten into Radiohead, and when this came up randomly while my iPod was on shuffle, I was amazed at how good this remix actually is. While very different from everything else on the site, the male vocalization and harmonies are just beautiful, and the minimalist percussion throughout is fitting. This is a remarkable interpretation. Wish I fell in love with it sooner.

  3. Ah, this is a fun read.

I did this in high school 4-5 years ago, pretty much. Except I took the id of a song and found the first OC ReMix ever, ShinShurikenJam, and decided to download each song and hit 'next' until I got to the most recent song... so what I did was I made lists of the chronological orders of the songs and put them on regular cds in the order that they were posted to the site. Of course, this was a time consuming process, but it was very rewarding and I ended up finishing work and listening to all of them one by one in chronological order, refusing to listen to any new posted ReMixes until I caught up. I think the process took me (roughly) 56 regular cds to catch up, and then I just continued making OCR cds in chronological order until I bought an iPod and an iPod car adaptor. It was getting so bad that I was able to remember the ID numbers of alot of the ReMixes because I consulted my lists so often. Still, it was way worth it.

Even still, though, I have a habit of listening to each new remix in the order that they get posted; like if there's a period of time in which multiple remixes gets posted, I need to listen to them in chronological order. That'll probably never change haha.

  4. This ReMix coincides remarkably well with the release of NIN's new (free!) album, The Slip. If it was intended, I'm surprised djp didn't post a link to the album (by the way, it's here: http://theslip.nin.com/ ). If it wasn't, that's a pretty neat coincidence!

In any case, this is a short mix, but it may have overstayed its welcome had it been longer. Cool synth industrial sounds, and an enjoyable ReMix overall!

  5. Kinda quiet, but whatever - that's easily remedied.

Anyway, this is a well-made ReMix. Very interesting sonically. Like djp mentioned, this is great background music, but when listening more intensively, there will be so many subtle changes throughout the track that it becomes very interesting. When I skip around the track, it's difficult to find sections that sound identical. I find those little additions, change-ups, tempo variations, and even quick one-second changes crucial in a track like this. There is a ton of subtlety in here to keep its listener interested, and with enough layers and/or intricacies to keep interest several times over.

Diggin' the track, man. So chill, and I like chill, yo.

  6. Such a lovely piece of music. Every time I listen to it, I get hooked more and more. This is superbly crafted, fo sho.

I think my favorite part has to be from 1:47 - 2:47. So chill, so sweet, I simply love it. The instrumentation, swelling pads, and sense of rhythms simply add up to make me really happy inside, really happy. Actually, this whole song makes me happy. Of course, the chorus is beautiful as well - wonderful source tune to draw from. And because the source tune is excellent - this stands testament to McVaffe's talent - I really prefer this ReMix to the original tune, and I love the original. Props to that. Well, I'm gushing at the seams for this piece, but that isn't really constructive at all, is it?

I'm not a big fan of the piano section around the 3:00 mark, although it is beautiful. I guess it's because it didn't seem in place with the rest of the piece and the instrumentation, because the instrumentation is so wonderful through the rest of the piece. The minute right before the solo piano is incredible, and then the piano kinda takes away from the song in my opinion. I think that section would benefit with a different instrument in place - perhaps he could have used koto there, or some type of zither. Yeah, I understand it's a really nice passage, short-lasting, and a great contrast to the rest of the piece - but I certainly would have enjoyed it more if it felt more in-character with the rest of the song. I guess this is just a personal stylistic choice I don't agree with 100%, but I just wanted to throw that comment out there.

But like I mentioned earlier, I love this ReMix. It's one of my favorites from recent times on OCR. It's so good to see McVaffe back in action on the OCR scene, that gets me so pumped. It's one of those songs where I could stumble back upon a few years (or even 10 or more years) from now, and get extremely nostalgic, listen to it like 20 times in a row, and all that good stuff and it would make my day, every time I found myself listening to it.

Outstanding stuff. To McV: Hope you get a chance to submit more ReMixes to OCR, lookin' forward to listening!
