  1. what about the mods in diffrent time zones to cover spam bots.
This is a great idea, that would make sense.

So don't expect this to be applied anytime soon.

We delete spambot stuff well enough. We don't need to add people as mods just to cover different time zones. It's more important that someone's qualified for the position rather than living in a certain area of the world just to delete a spambot post within a few minutes as opposed to several hours.

The only logical addition would be TO as far as I can tell - I'm not saying it's necessary, just that an Australian would be the only logical choice after Smoke, and TO would be the first aussie on the list since he's between 10 and 12 hours back of New York.
  2. We appreciate your patience, Kamoh, with our molasses-slow pace with these games.

    Oh, and Merry Christmas everybody.

What do you mean? I've been GONE - I need to catch up with damathacus before he reports me to myself.

EDIT: Updates made - Nineko's report is successful.

    RULES:

2-game matches. Tiebreakers used if match ends tied. Alternate colors, with the high seed as white in odd-numbered games. Regular games use 12/12 clocks. Tiebreakers use 6/6 clocks.

Undo Turn may only be used to fix slips of the finger. Previous rules for disconnects and abandoned matches will be employed. Using computer assistance will result in permanent ejection from the OCRCL.

To report an unavailable or reluctant player, send a PM to me (kamoh) and explain the situation clearly and carefully. A report lasting 2 days or more will result in a 2-0 victory for the reporting player. You may play provisional matches to decide possible future matchups.

    DOUBLE-ELIMINATION SCHEDULE

Reading the schedule: All matches are listed as if the higher seed advances. If an upset occurs, the two players switch seedings. A player's next match is the next game listed in which their seed appears.

Matches in green are "winner's bracket" matches. Winners continue with green matches, losers drop to playing red matches. Matches in red are "loser's bracket" matches. Winners continue with red matches, losers are eliminated and given placement.

The Tournament Champion is the player who has completed the most rounds of the bracket. Tiebreaker is current seeding.

Thanks to Doulifee for the badge, and to everyone for a successful first run of the new format.

I think that, with the proposed tweaks and everything, this is going to survive as the way things really should be in the OCRCL from now on.

Below are the final final final standings for 2006.

  5. I lost two last night to clef. I'll be out of commission till the 28th or so.

I will however play in your 2007 league of extraordinary chess players.

    AKA social misfits.

EDIT: Doulifee loves you all so much :)

I spent some time MSpainting mine - you are all welcome to do the same to yours.

  6. John Derrilll has recently informed me that the Judges Panel is usurping much power, growing in number to 10, increasing the OCR Bureaucracy to unmanagable standards. This must be stopped.

Follow the OCRCL in it's plight against the tyrannical Judges Panel!

  8. So all you know, the reason I haven't really be around is because my grandpa passed away. I don't think I'm going to be able to finish my matches with clef unless they are tonight.
Aww I'm sorry about that, man...I hope you and your family are all okay, especially around this time of year.

We'll figure something out - try and get your match done, but I think we all understand if you don't.

Plus the only fair way to do it is to have her do a total forfeit - which makes my win completely useless...of course it doesn't matter either way, it's 1 point from 6th place or 2 points.

JD locks up 5th, Setz 6th, Kamoh 7th, Margoute 8th.

I just played a 120+ move game against some stupid 3000+ rated cheat. the engame was hilarious and he didnt know what to do , i lost it eventually after my retardo rook sac. God, im so jobless, cant wait to go to Orlando for christmas. catch ya when i can.

did u save the game? I could send u a program which converts text files into pgn... when i will have internet

for now: tomorrow someone is coming from the cable company. hopefully they will fix the problem.

still i can post in the thread from my work, but i dont have messenger here :-(

2 kamoh: i think i will not be able to play tourney games this week, well, depends if they will fix my internet at home tomorrow

and on Sunday Im leaving for Ukraine, and i will be back after 10 of January. so, most probably, no games for me for the next 3 weeks :-(

Okay - agree to a draw for our other game? I'm sure Setz will want two draws as well...
