  1. It doesn't explain the entire story. Certain classes, if you get in really close to them, even if they were facing you the entire time, you will still get a backstab. From personal Spy experience, this includes Heavy and Scout. The opposite is also true. If you get too close to a Heavy during a backstab, it will be a normal stab, as if you'd hit their front. (I haven't tried it with Scouts). Note that these are from dead-on, even a slight angle "fixes" the problem.
  2. I'm in class right now and I'm bored.
  3. I thought you already had a server plugin to track that sort of thing (the one with the map). Anyway, I see I got a new hat today while I was idleing (I'm not home yet); Tough Guy's Torque. Surprisingly, it's one of only 3 items I've gained over the last 16 hours. I was kinda hoping for a Scout, Soldier, Pyro, or Medic hat. :/
  4. It wasn't so bad before Valve pushed up the winner start points. 1 is where 2 used to be, and 2 skips the first hill entirely now. It also has an extremely high tendency for RED to win, even more-so than Goldrush (which favors RED 2:1 in the official map win stats). Heck, usually RED wins Hoodoo in the first stage. Valve's official stats don't cover maps that ship with the game buy aren't made by Valve.
  5. It goes back to tf_use_fixed_weaponspread 0 every time the server resets because it's the default. I, for one, would prefer that it stay that way, as it makes some classes primary weapons work better at long range than they were intended. The first one that comes to mind being the Heavy's minigun. tl;dr I prefer random spreads because Valve balanced the game with them on.
  6. Because it has no logic to separate customs from built-in maps. So, sometimes it would offer up a vote that was all customs. That combined with Sourcemod's restriction on how often map votes can happen usually meant you were forced to go to a custom map no one really wanted at the end of the current map.
  7. Complaints about how sometimes a vote would come up with a bunch of maps everyone hated.
  8. Except me, right? Although it's only a moderate dislike, unlike some other standard maps I can name (tc_hydro, ctf_turbine, cp_dustbowl...) Actually, it's easy... it's literally a 2 line configuration change. The trick to it is setting the vote to take place 6 minutes prior to the end of the map, or else the vote may not kick off, or finish before, an automatic map change. We did this once before, and I seem to recall getting complaints about it.

  10. Really? Then why I am seeing things like Solidwtf2: WOw Solidwtf2: Just wow Solidwtf2: Five hours no items Murdoker: i idled 12 once no items Red: at least you got a hat *DEAD* Solidwtf2: Broken drop system is broken Murdoker: well i had 5 hats b4 Murdoker: rage crafted them Solidwtf2: ITEMS PLEASE VALVE Murdoker: hats back please Solidwtf2: Maybe gabe should get off his fat ass and do something (this is from a server log) Particularly when I'm seeing the same problem, having only gotten four items in the last 24 hours (across 3 different servers) that I've been idling? It's usually considerably higher than this.
  11. Yes, but every time Valve has had a content update, the random item system has broken down for several days. It's been 2 days since the most recent update.
  12. So I noticed. I had to start my own idling server to even find an empty one... and mine is now full, too.
  13. The item drop rate seems to be lower than usual this evening. I'm wondering if Valve is having trouble with its item servers again.
  14. For some strange reason, this requires a server restart. Either that or its optional and just updates both clients and servers regardless. Also: Bet you Valve nerfed the drop rate again, or they change it so they can't be used to craft hats on Monday.

  16. Both servers are back up again now. When I update the servers, I take RED down, which auto-updates the game files. After it's back up, I take BLU down, which doesn't need to update its files (because they share files). However, it does wait to check the latest version on Steam, which is slow sometimes.
  17. "A required update for Team Fortress 2 is the on way. It should be live in 1 hour." I'll be around to update the servers then. A required update for Team Fortress 2 is now available. Please run hldsupdatetool to receive the update. The specific changes include: - Added items submitted to the Contribute! site by members of the community. Submit your own creations! http://www.teamfortress.com/contribute/ Edit 2: Servers are both back up.
  18. Speaking of hats, got a new one yesterday (Heavy's Football Helmet) and according to TF2Items, I have another one in my queue of items (Engineer's bald hat thingy). I say queue because the server I'm on isn't showing them to me when I die. >:/ Edit: Oh, OK... suiciding won't award the items to you, it has to be a death by an enemy.
  19. I'm guessing they're new hats. Just because new weapons tend to be released with lots of fanfare. Whereas the last 3 hats weren't.
  20. I rarely play Scoot any more. I played it a lot more when the ball would stun ubered people. That I keep the FaN equipped just because I use it on a single map should have been a big hint...
  21. I'm actually pretty good with the Sandman ball. I tend to keep the FaN equipped simply because I usually only play Scoot on Double Cross, and the FaN is necessary for Scoots to take the balcony exit from the intel room. Bonk? Only when I'm playing distraction Scoot. For some reason, this works particularly well on sentry guns in Steel near point A.
  22. As a person who once held the Global Urine For a Surprise award, I resent that remark.
  23. Bah, stupid forum system stopped sending me notices about new messages in this thread. It's funny that you should bring this up. I have two things to say to you in public, since you like public formats: 1. Stop sticky camping doors. Next time you do is a perm ban, with no appeal. 2. Don't team stack. While, in the past we used to say "ZUZ TEAM STACKS!!!, it actually works like this: Seldon and Pav occasionally team stack. Not usually enough to make an issue out of it. However, it seems more common on Friday nights (in my experience). Reset and Vlad aren't on enough for me to tell how often they team stack. I do know that they sometimes team stack, because I've seen it happen. Ubel and Vahn team stack nearly every map, and are the main reason that there are 3-4 ZUZ guys on the same team some nights. In fact, I've never seen either of them remain playing if no other ZUZ players are on. The last two apparently need to be reminded that it's against the server rules.
  24. I'm surprised that anyone will ever medic for you considering how much you bitch about them.
  25. You know, I wish I hadn't waited so long to join idle servers. Since I started idleing two weeks ago, I've gotten two hat drops and crafted one hat. So, I've been wearing my Trophy Belt and Backbiter's Billycock lately... but my second random drop (just a few days after crafting a Backbiter's Billycock) was a second Backbiter's Billycock. Then again, this is why they have the "Rebuild Headgear" recipe!
