  1. Valve is porting all their existing Source games to Mac next month. This includes L4D and L4D2. So, tell your Mac friends! One last thing, if you're a weirdo who has both Mac and PC... owning a copy of a game for one platform means you own a copy of the same game for both platforms! And yes, this is a slightly modified version of the post I made in the TF2 thread.

  3. I dislike the idea of custom achievements. I could list the reasons already given by others, but instead, I'll mention the ones that actually matter: It doesn't sound like this is very flexible... it can count kills with certain weapons or classes against certain other classes (or anyone), plus a few specials, like Ubers, headshots, backstabs, and buildings built. And nothing else.
  4. What atmuh said. Apparently it's been missing since the Sourcemod 1.3 upgrade last month. It should be present on the next server restart (assuming it works with SM 1.3). I had no idea what you were talking about until I noticed it was edited in after I read an earlier post. I'm not a big fan of passwords changing between maps. I know it can be done by putting in in the cfg file for that map.
  5. Hence why I usually don't play Soldier! I can get rocket jumps sometimes, but I screw them up more often than get them.
  6. So, I heard rumors that the Valve master servers were just restarted after being updated, and removed/readded the master servers to our game servers. SUPPOSEDLY, this will fix the Linux servers constantly being disconnected and delisted from the masters.

  9. I just restarted all the servers. Apparently, there was an issue with the master servers returning on every heartbeat. So, hopefully this will fix the issue with the item drop rate being non-existent, despite loadouts working. (Since the master servers never actually disconnected, the game servers weren't smart enough to reconnect.) Edit: It's been a few hours, but the same problem has reappeared. Unfortunately, I don't know how to fix it.

  11. I made an important change to your server configuration files. Ha, really very important stuff. Even though I didn't ask first!
  12. I've been trying the Steam Beta UI that FireSlash (I think) mentioned earlier. It's pretty slick. It also ditches the IE rendering engine. The only problem I've seen is that the Library (formerly Games) area is slow to load if you have a lot of games... and I have over 100 games bought through Steam.
  13. I both left work late and roads are pretty bad right now, so I'm just getting around to updating the servers now. Edit: Both servers are updated and restarted. Not sure why BLU hadn't updated earlier, as the master server usually sends a restart required message, but RED hadn't been updated yet and it uses the same files...
  14. Yeah, and now the Steam servers are screwed up. I can't tell if someone already updated our server, but when I took down RED to update one of them, I got this on startup: No installation record found at ../orangebox However, it did eventually pick up which directory the game was in. Edit: Also, my friends list is now empty following the latest Steam client update. Edit 2: Both RED and BLU are now back up with the updated files. Edit 3: "We are aware of an issue that is causing friends not to show up in the friends list. We are working on a fix and hope to have it released soon. Please do not create Support Tickets for this issue." -- Steam Support
  15. Headshots and backstabs currently award 2 extra points, but I'm not sure if the stats code takes into account that 1 would be subtracted for the crit kill or not. Also, this is a comment about the beta version of Superlogs 2.0, fixed from 1.4.5 (the version we use): FIXED airshot_rocket/airshot_headshot should no longer trigger on swimmers. Which means airshots are bugged in the current version, which explains why the rocket launcher ones are so high.
  16. Kills award between 2 and 25 points depending on the skill difference between the players (and subtract half that score from the person killed iirc). Losing 1 point isn't a lot. Edit: This is before the weapon modifier. For instance, most Melee weapons award 2x the score, the Sandman is 1.75x, a baseball kill is 2.5x, Taunt kills are based on the number of seconds they take (3x-5x), Deflected weapons are 2x, except Deflected Flaregun which is 20x. Strangely, there is no deflected baseball stat... can you not deflect those?
  17. Airshot Rockets - This stat is clearly bugged; it's counting all rocket shots as airshots. Airshot Headshots - Headshots are already awarded extra points. Mini Round Win - Isn't a player event, so it awards team points instead.
  18. Wasn't that fixed a while back? Also, the stats listed on the global stats may be a bug, showing the wrong number. I'll take a closer look at it later.
  19. Also, I think Brushfire is right that the stats that awards are based on got reset at some point. The global award numbers are all messed up now, too. Either that or the globals are now affected by the 28 day thing like old weapon data are, which doesn't make sense for global awards. Edit: As a reminder, stats and ban info is on the OCRTF2 site.
  20. Like was already mentioned, Junction is just too small. It also has some odd bugs, like how BLU can still cap A despite RED also being on the point (this doesn't happen with B or C on the same map). Really? I remember complaints about Dustbowl; Badwater; Gold Rush; and Steel, but not about Gravelpit. Also, iirc too many customs was why cp_furnace got yanked from rotation, and it's also a 3-point Gravelpit style map.
  21. Now, if you said dustbowl, goldrush, and 2fort, I'd agree. Egypt has way too many height-based areas in a game that really isn't built balanced for it. Egypt Part 1, Point B is by far the worst capture point I've ever seen in a map shipped with the game*. Incidentally, this is also the issue between points A and B on frontier. tl;dr egypt is the cp version of hoodoo. *Ignoring arena and payload maps.
  22. So, by popular request, koth_harvest_event (the Halloween map) will be back on the BLU nomination list. I also added the arena maps back, but eh.
  23. You're probably right with that. Good point. I'm not sure exactly what the database updates they've made between versions changed.
  24. I want to play tonight to see if I can eventually steal some other (Huntsman?) awards, but I have homework to work on... and it looks everyone jumped off of the server anyway.
  25. If it's the global award, then... actually, I dunno. I don't think Direct Hit kills were tracked until just a few days ago... Oh, speaking of stuff, I have the Revolver award back... and increased my lead on the Urine for a Surprise award (74 Jarates yesterday. ) Also, I managed to get 3 Huntsman headshots in a row before being headshotted by an enemy sniper with a rifle on ctf_well yesterday.
