  1. If they're not already in the game, I'd recommend a few tracks from the Guilty Gear series. A lot of the songs from the Guilty Gear series are probably considered more hard rock than metal, but the tracks I'm thinking of has a lot less 'melody' than the other ones: Bloodstained Lineage, Feel a Fear, and A Solitude That Asks Nothing in Return.
  2. Well, I've got 10 characters and I don't really have a major one I play as, so all the titles that aren't account-based would be so incredibly time-consuming that I don't bother. I'm already trying to get every skill for each character's primary which involves a lot of progression in each campaign for elite caps or a lot of PvP and farming to get elite tomes for unlocked elites via Balthazar faction, so I've got my hands plenty full as is.
  3. If it's not, that kid should get props for runescape sledding skills. (Seriously, it's impossible to control your character in that game.)
  4. http://youtube.com/watch?v=f8jf_gaQ0GI Even better runescape action. EDIT: But back on topic, yeah, that was a silly video...sledding? Did the controls of runescape improve enough so that you don't go chopping down every tree you see instead of moving where you want to? Because I don't see how sledding is even possible.
  5. Servers really don't make a difference; you can just meet up in an international district to play with people on a different country/continent server than you. The only time I can think of them actually do mattering is for UW/FoW, in which there's passage scrolls now so even that can be done.
  6. I agree, titles that don't give you any bonus are a waste of time. However, I did like the unlucky title track, I just wish it would give some sort of bonus like the lucky one does.
  7. Eh, I've seen people debate their effectiveness in PvP; most say that elementalists do their shouts better and that rangers have better spikes/dps. PvE-wise, deaths have been rare for me: all of the deaths I got as a Paragon are one when I went afk after I first made him (I don't care about the survivor title) and then all subsequent ones happened in the Domain of Fear trying to cap Stunning Strike.
  8. Wow I didn't really look too much at the PvE skills, so the new Paragon ones actually make me want to play my paragon again.
  9. The final, final 1-on-1 fight at the very end of FF7 against Sephiroth.
  10. True, I started doing a HM Halcyon Job farm for a while; you can easily solo all the assassins at the beginning of the quest (forget the halcyon, just go straight to the upper-north part) before you approach the Lord Senku or whatever his name is; there's at least 27 Luxon assassins, and w/ HM using a simple Rt/E VwK build and using Armor of Earth and Stoneflesh Aura (I think, i dunno) the assassins will die really fast. They drop gold luxon armors like nothing, and lockpicks come out at a fairly decent rate too; and 90% of the time there's at least one chest, so you can go for whatever is in that too if you're rich enough (which I'm not).
  11. Haven't played too much recently in the past 4 months due to ANet nerfing solo farming and thus causing massive disinterest to play in my Guild, thus causing me to not have anyone to play with. Although some of my guildies did switch to another (and more active) guild, I still haven't played much because work and the fact that my laptop backlight is pretty much dead and I have to steal the monitor of my parents' PC to use my computer. Anyway, here's my characters: Axlrod Gunnarson - 20 Mo/stuff Stella Soulcatcher - 20 R/stuff Look Im Emo - 20 N/stuff Freya Evangeline - 20 W/stuff Zoe Lilas - 20 Me/stuff The Afflicted Huan - 20 E/stuff Belah Belladonna - 20 A/stuff Elijah Engelhand - 20 Rt/stuff Like Isis - 20 D/stuff Ecco the Dolphin - 20 P/stuff Others: Gonna Sting You - 20 Me/W (PvP character) Mule of Nosferatu - 20 E/something (extra storage)
  12. Honestly I have to agree with you, even when I was doing the whole indie/emo scene (thank goodness I'm out of that) I can't say I ever actually liked Modest Mouse. Yes, I listened to them too. From my experience, all emos I knew were fakes (myself included) because we either just wanted attention, had a lot of 'pain' we just kinda made up to make other people pity us, or wanted a girl who liked the indie/emo boys. Yes, there are real people with real pain out there; but a good deal of the emo heartache (regardless of how 'indie' it is or not) is easily as fabricated as mainstream pop; I'd say there are plenty of fake indie/emo bands on myspace who are only indie/emo because of the image it supplies and the instant fanbase it seems to give. In that respect it seems that the image of an indie/emo band is just as important as the image of a pop artist/band. Personally, I think you've got the right mindset, I think people hating pop music stems from the whole idea of liking an indie band because they're indie. 75% of the people I've met and gotten to know who are die-hard indie fans haven't actually listened to other forms of music, mostly because they're so closed-minded due to their indie=best regardless of quality mindset. Whether or not you agree with me, this has been what I've encountered. While some people (don't remember who) can argue that there is no true indie genre, but what about the so-called 'indie' record labels?
  13. IIRC, They also make at least two references to sea turtles. And what's with the running joke with peanuts?
  14. Yes, the movie was full of the characters plotting against each other, backstabbing, unclear motives, etc. I'd say it was probably worse than the convolution of the second one; it sheds light onto most of the major character's motivations and overloads you with them; in regards to the first post, the three motivations thing from the second movie is kind of dropped, but instead there's like 5-7 now. The action scenes in this one seem to take the backburner; the second movie had several (maybe too many) over the top battles (dislodged and free rolling water wheels, etc) and the most this movie gets (spoilers)is an interestingly timed wedding ceremony with a gratuitous Matrix-esque slow motion wedding kiss with a full 720-1080 degree camera pan, all in the midst of two ships spinning around the center of a maelstrom.
  15. Spoilers for after credits and me expanding upon them: It's 10 years later, and Elizabeth and a 9-10 year old son go to the edge of a cliff, where they await Will's return. The sunsets and does the green flash and you see Will riding in on the Flying Dutchman. I'm assuming this will complicate things if there's going to be sequels; it kind of killed what I thought would've been the natural progression of the story based on what they left at the end of the movie. (that is, Will attempting to become a normal human again (I mean, the green flash is rumored to happen when a dead person comes back to life, and the Flying Dutchman dissapears with a green flash...) or Elizabeth attempting to become immortal using the Water of Life stuff that Jack was looking for at the very end). Overall I thought it was good, although I personally found the ending pretty dissatisfying; Everything that I didn't want to happen did, and it leaves a bunch of loose ends.
  16. Totally agree. Although he was comparing Hybrid Theory to Minutes to Midnight; this kind of parallels the comparison of the Bends and Kid A, as both have an album in between. The progression of The Bends -> OK Computer -> Kid A makes sense, whereas OK Computer sounds like it fits in between the albums. To me, you can't use this kind of progression for Linkin Park, as imho Meteora didn't sound like it was a departure whatsoever from Hybrid Theory. I'm not saying this is bad, I'm saying it merely makes the comparison to Radiohead invalid. (I don't count Reanimation as an exclusively Linkin Park album as it's just a bunch of remixes, several done primarily by other artists; Collision Course, while my favorite 'album' by both LP and Jay-Z, doesn't sound too drastically different from their previous work).
  17. Personally, I don't think LP's lyrics haven't matured too much concerning the song What I've Done. You think they'd be lamenting over their mistakes and going into some depth about them, but instead they just ends up singing, "what I've done" or "what I've become" over and over again.
  18. I was making a game in RPGMaker XP where all the maps were designed after the University of Louisville, but now I'm glad there was an RTP error when it was made and the game wasn't playable. When I was in high school, some of my friends made a map of our school, but nobody cared. Well, nobody probably knew about it either.
  19. It's good to know I'm not the only one who thought he looked like Gerard Way.
  20. True, which is why I don't think it's okay for Sony to do this. I don't, however, think people are completely justified in jumping to the conclusion that an ancient Greek themed game promotion for a video game inspired by and based on ancient Greek mythology has complete, direct correlation to violence in video games. (I would blame the source of inspiration, ie. ancient Greece, as that makes more sense to me) It merely seemed like the article and a lot of responses to it fell in that line of thought.
  21. In the context of the God of War series being partly based on Greece and Greek mythology, a goat sacrifice and topless girls with grapes don't seem too out of context. Not that I'm supporting Sony, but you know, ancient Greeks did that kind of stuff. What's sad is that people don't seem to be offended that whores and animal sacrifices were features of Greek temples or Greek religious practice, but no, do this for a game promotion and people pretend like they've never heard of it before.
  22. If you look at the artist profile for AIR, as there are two bands with the same name, the French duo bio is on top, with the older jazz group on the bottom. I guess that's how you solve it. But the real problem lies with the fact that since most of the data uploaded is from 'scrobbling' users, if they have bad tags, then you'll get bad data. I've been using the software for about a week now; I don't know if you're allowed to add music songs yourself to band profiles that don't have any (ie. what I'd do to Cloudberry Jam)...oh wait just checked, you have to register as an artist/label first. Dunno what that involves, as I'm not an artist or record label.
  23. Actually, now that I think about it, the later Pokemon games did get considerably harder than Red/Blue. Which in that case, I have to also agree; the Pokemon games were more challenging.
  24. I don't know where you all are coming up with all of this difficulty stuff; I don't recall EVER having a hard time in the SNES/Anthology versions. Economizer + Gem Box as relics is basically instant win; forget Offering and Genji Glove: cast Ultima, Quick, and repeat Ultima, Quick, Ultima, Quick, you get the point now. You win, and they'll never hit you with anything in between your Ultimas and Quicks. Kefka isn't that hard, I was actually let down that after a relatively tough 3rd tier battle he appears and...mostly sucks. (I mean, he might be hard if your only three party members you got in WoR were Celes, Edgar, and Setzer, but he's not hard with a full party.) If I recall correctly you can simply throw an Atma weapon at him and kill him instantly. I can't find this in any of the gamefaqs, but I'm fairly certain it worked when I threw it at him in the Anthology version. (I think a battle message pops up and he dies) Honestly, the only truly hard battle is Magimaster, but Berserk + Life3 or Wall Rings + Life3 make that battle a walk in the park. By saying that Pokemon is harder than this you're implying that the thousands of 3-year-old kids who can't even read who spent 10+ hours pressing the A button to get their Charmeleon to a high enough level to kill Brock (using only the A button obviously, which for a good amount of time will be Scratch) will have an easier time beating this game. To me this seems to me less likely; pressing the A Button over and over again in the battle with the Whelk/Ymir will only get you killed from lightning counterattacks. Regardless, from my playing it it seems to have more or less the same difficulty to me; as in, it's not hard if you pay attention to what's going on and what your spells do.
  25. Yeah, the translation of FF6 advance seems to be quite altered imho; they changed 'Son of a Submariner,' which is my favorite line of any video game. But oh well, I've played FF6 enough times to the point where the new script is kind of refreshing...but at the same time it seems like the overall theme of the game is a lot less mature (not surprising as it's a GBA port). I mean, to me the first time I played FF6 Kefka seemed like a complete dolt and then he completely screws everything up (I did not forsee World of Ruin coming, my friends thankfully never spoiled that one for me) in a post-repressed psychotic fervor. But now Kefka seems less like a dolt and more like a 7-year old. Also, I heard the imprisonment scene with Celes was changed so that the guard no longer punches her (I've only played for an hour or so). I mean, wtf Square-Enix, censoring punching? The game's rated E(10+)! Seriously, how are we supposed to not like the empire if they're so darn agreeable? The script changes really seem arbitrary to me, for example, Shadow will no longer slit your (his?) mother's throat for a nickle, as now he'll kill his best friend for the right price. However, Intercepter still eats strangers (if I recall correctly). Apparently dogs can eat people, but any specific action involving inflicting harm to another person cannot be represented in either text or action. I mean, I can't wait to see how they handle the Doma scene; my guess is our good old villain puts Tang or something in the water and because Doma is so secluded it's very pure-bread and everyone is allergic to oranges. And on the topic of sound quality, the GBA version does not have good sound quality. Just listen to the low-bass grind of the battle music and you'll understand. I don't remember any lag problems from my couple hours playing it. I am playing it on a DS though, so maybe the DS has faster hardware. (I don't really pay attention to the specs on systems though, so this is speculation.) As for game mechanics, I can't believe they took out the whole 'vanish doom' combo. Like, the ENTIRE POINT of vanish was to make magic 100% effective (as well as hide your characters from physical attacks, but that strategy seemed generally a moot point anyway) and then use Doom at 100% effectiveness. I've also heard you can switch-out Espers in battle; not sure if you could always do that as I never did in any of the other versions (neither did I summon them, so I guess that would be why). My real major concern is that overall view on-screen seems smaller. Maybe it's been truncated for the GBA screen. But overall, I'm hoping a portable FF6 and the new extras will jusify my purchase. Even so, my Anthology version causes Mog's 'Wind Song' to show up as ' ind Song,' and that was one of my most used skills with one of my most used characters, so I'm hoping the game will be more polished now.
