Metroid Primeish whistle

I am in need of a whistle VST/VSTi/whatever. As the name says, specifically one that sounds like the signature Metroid Prime one, not really like the one used in Lil Jons instrumentals. (to give one example of what I dont want) Ive tried The Shepard and the 3xOsc trick so far but am unsatisfied and have tried tweaking both, but neither can give me what I want...any suggestions on this? If something can be modified to make this, that would be fine as well. Thanks in advance! ^^

There's a passage in the later Tallon Overworld theme where the whistle is just about the only instrument playing. Try isolating it, and then tweaking pitches and such. Or use it as a model.

Forgive me for I have next to no experience in composition et al Im not sure exactly how I would do either of the things you suggested...and are you sure that its alone? If memory serves, theres constant ambient background noise throughout that song...

I know nothing compared to these guys on this site, but yeah I know what you mean about the ambient sort of windy sound throughout. I recall that it cuts off, though around 2:05.

Get an mp3 of the song, import it into Audacity, and select a portion of the wind noise, and do a noise removal. That's the novice method.

lol yeah, I didnt remember that. I have the soundtrack, so that would be easy, but ill PM DarkeSword first. I thought perhaps it was some fairly commonly mentioned soundfont or VST or something

Are you talking about the sine lead that is used a lot? It's just a basic sine wave, you can do it any synth. Just eq to taste and add some delay and stuff.

It's a bent sine wave at really high frequencies. You just put like 12-25% portamento or slide/glide on a sine wave in such a way so it kinda starts out bent, if your synth can do that.

If you can get your hands on z3ta, its in V13 soundbank called Trinilead.
