Lunahorum Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Is there a type of distortion that only clips one side of the wave such as the bottom or the top? I was just wondering. Quote
audio fidelity Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 just what is it you are you trying to do sonically? Quote
OverCoat Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 just what is it you are you trying to do sonically? something awesome http://www.kvraudio.com/get/757.html here is a 3-band distortion VST that will probably do what you are asking - Beatdrop recommended this thing to me like 30 years ago and I think it is neat. Yoozer Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Yes, those things exist. They're called diode clippers. http://www.allaboutcircuits.com/vol_3/chpt_3/6.html D16 Devastor seems to have something like that. Quote
Lunahorum Posted September 8, 2008 Author Posted September 8, 2008 Oh I found something cool with lots of freebies - http://www.wavosaur.com/ The original website is down, but can be accessed here - http://web.archive.org/web/20041009155611/www.noizware.com/software.htm - or not... Quote
Nutritious Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 Been tryin to get this VST since I read the thread earlier last month, but the download from web.archive.org seems to be a bad zip file. Anyone around here happen to have the Tridirt VST and wouldn't mind sending it to me? Quote
analoq Posted October 1, 2008 Posted October 1, 2008 I don't have the aforementioned plugin but I don't think it does what the OP is/was looking for. I had an analogue clipper that would do it. Most sounds just came out like a dull distortion, but there were interesting things you could do to control voltages. The clipper module in Reaktor will do this as well. It would be really trivial to code a VST effect for this. But again, not the most useful effect. cheers. Quote
