The Vagrance Posted April 20, 2009 Share Posted April 20, 2009 I've challenged my lazy-ass self to create a full song in just a week straight, and so far I've completed about one day's worth of work. Link: http://www.tindeck.com/listen/lldi And yes, I will be updating every day. DAY 2: http://www.tindeck.com/listen/jcpv Main thing I did was finish/phatten up the drums. I also played around with some levels and added some extra percussion. The bass I was unsure about because I didn't want just a straight sub but after about, 4 or 5 different patches I finally found a combination I like; not too rough but not too dull. The vocals were just chopped up segments of various recordings my neighbor did and I like the added layer to it all. Overall I'm starting to feel the track coming together despite the rough mixing. DAY 3/4: http://www.tindeck.com/listen/fzcl I didn't get an update in yesterday because I got home at about 3:40, and went to bed at about 5:30-6:00. Today, I did quite a bit mainly getting the general layout of the track in place. The track length is probably as long as it'll ever be, but there are definitely sketchy elements and the next few days is the boring part as I gradually smooth the edges, primarily on transitions. Also, you really have a knack for drum programming. Anyway, this concept seem to be the best cure against procrastination, so I might try it someday.
