XPRTNovice
i failed the shit out of this course. i just didnt have time for the number of videos we had to watch. and i got lazy, i wont lie :/ ugh, this. I'm hoping the course stays open for a long time so I can view the videos as I have time.

pmac
I'm signing up for Songwriting. Thanks for the awareness!
ectogemia
Holy shit, I did not have the time to go through *any* of the material for the class I was in. I don't even remember which class it was. Production? Something like that? I hate school D:
ShadTK
I was going for song writting, but It'll cover most of the lyrical part of the songs. I can only choose between music production or song writting, so I had to cut it down for the while. If I enter, i think I might just download the videos for future reference. wouldnt be a bad idea. Loved the introduction to sound design, though. I know this stuff about soundwave types should be basic, but I was never able to search much about it. clarified a lot for me. I'll need to do some exercises to figure out what is what though. Does anyone have an exercise list on the matter or something?
mickomoo
Does anyone know how long we have access to our Coursera materials? I'm kinda behind in one of my classes and my Music class along with this philosophy class both start next week. I wanna learn but there's never enough time in the day
Frederic Petitpas
Hey mickomoo, you could use DownThemAll, a plugin for Firefox https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/downthemall/ Go to the video lectures page, right-click and choose DownThemAll then write "mp4" in the filter... Start the download and you'll get the 55 videos (talking about Sound Design) with 3 mouse clicks.
Esperado
I learned what timbre is and how its useful to sound design though, so it was well worth the effort !
mickomoo
I actually have downloaditall! and it's an awesome tool. I was just wondering if there was a way without taking up hardrive space, but I'll probably want these as reference anyway...

XPRTNovice
I think I'm now enrolled in like 6 courses at once, and realizing that it was a very silly idea. I didn't even really finish digital sound design completely. I am going to rip all the videos for all the classes I'm in, I think.
Frederic Petitpas
I couldn't care less about the "certificates". They should post their vids on YT
ShadTK
According to a friend of mine, some of their videos DO end up on youtube. At least he said he saw some of their old courses via youtube. Maybe some students upload the videos after the classes are done?
Esperado
this time around, im doing better at watching them. ill just watch them when i wake up in the morning. more than two courses on there is a waste. so much video material,
Frederic Petitpas
couldn't stand the teacher anymore tho Weak voice, always coughing between 2 words and doing that annoying sound with his mouth
Esperado
loudon stearns? he does have a bit of a weird mouth. videos are nice an informative though! edit: the songwriting teacher is also really strange. he looks like an 80s rock transplant or something
Frederic Petitpas
Nah, Steve Everette. Will check the songwriting one soon... I CANNOT WRITE LYRICS Never ever. I'd be an acoustic artist if I could, and would sing. Maybe one day thanks to that course ?lol

They should post their vids on YT Ditto. Btw do you think song writting would help with like choral lyric writing. I so rarely engage with writing anything, but at some point in the future I wanted to use symphonic chiors...
