Fickett Towleny Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Well, I got an s90 for Christmas, and I need to put it to some good use. Any tips? Quote
OverCoat Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 I would probably save up for a better car. Quote
OverCoat Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 Well, shit, that looks like a FANTASTIC midi controller to me! Is it velocity sensitive? Quote
realpolitik Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 i think it's velocity sensitive and hammer-weighted. the piano sound kinda sucks tho D: Quote
Jens Wulvik Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 It's a S90ES, right? Maybe this guy have some advice for you: http://www.yamaha-europe.com/yamaha_europe/download/movies/01_product_demos/S90/S90_english_v1_0_300k.wmv Quote
Yoozer Posted March 11, 2006 Posted March 11, 2006 Any tips? Sure. The thing's a complete Motif without the sequencer/sampler. You can get expansion boards for the machine (PLG-DX and PLG-AN) that give it FM (like NI FM7) and subtractive synthesis (from the Yamaha AN1x, only 5 instead of 10 voices). It's 16 parts multitimbral. It's got its own USB-interface, so you don't have to buy an USB-MIDI cable. Or if it just is an expensive paperweight and you think the action's too heavy, sell it. Christmas was 4 months ago- what have you done with it in the meantime? The S90ES has another soundset, better filters, and a buffed up polyphony. Quote
Fickett Towleny Posted March 11, 2006 Author Posted March 11, 2006 Well, one of its current purposes is helping me figure out a symphony I'm writing. In addition to that, it's the piano I'm using for the Colorado Solo and Onsomble contest. Quote
Ichitootah Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 God, I bought an S03 when I didn't know how important weighted action would be to me as a piano player. I kind of regret it now, but at least it's a decent sampler. Shoulda bought this one. Quote
Legion303 Posted March 23, 2006 Posted March 23, 2006 (Hijack) I would probably save up for a better car. That is one smooth hoopty. I'd throw some gold rims on it, maybe lower the suspension another 6 inches, and put some dope-ass subs in the trunk. -steve Quote
