Question about sound effects?

Ok, so I just want to know from other people how they find their sound effects, find them, create them? I'm really curious because I always have problems coming up with the right sound effects to give the music a little more depth and meaning. Sometimes the smallest things like that make a difference! Thank you ~

So, freesound.org has four different use licenses. Most of them require attribution. I don't recall ever seeing sample attributions on a mixpost, nor have I ever seen them in judge threads. Is there a way to use these legally? Should I stick with Creative Commons Zero samples? Or do people just not care?

I have seen a couple of attributions in mixposts.

Edit: or quite possibly just this one: http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR02320/ Couple of Gario's mixposts mention having sounds from freesounds but don't elaborate, I'd assume those use samples that don't require attribution.

I'll sometimes grab stuff from Freesound depending on the situation. I've also been trying to get into a habit of creating my own. One of these days I'll release a little library of sound design stuff like this.
