ad.mixx Posted July 4, 2011 Posted July 4, 2011 Hi. I'm in the middle of a song, but am having trouble finding some good ways to transition. I found something that will probably just work, I'm just not sure how to emulate the cymbal sound in FL Studio. This song right here. The one that comes in at around :30 when the main theme comes. And it holds around for a while before the cymbal is actually hit (transition point?). Does anybody have any idea how to emulate that or a good sound for it? Quote

Take a cymbal (as an audio clip), go into the channel settings (click on it in the step sequencer) and hit reverse. Put the reversed one to end when the normal one hits. You'll need to clone the cymbal to have both the normal one and the reversed one. Quote
prophetik music Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 it sounded like a normal cymbal roll to me, not a reversed cymbal crash or hit. Quote
Nabeel Ansari Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 it sounded like a normal cymbal roll to me, not a reversed cymbal crash or hit. I am pretty sure that was definitely a reverse cymbal hit. There wasn't any cymbal rolling at all. Quote
Rozovian Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 I'd like to also learn how to patch percussion synthesizers(primarily electronic styles). Is there a free-ware favorite for drum synthesis like Synth1 and so many others were for analog style leads and basses? LinPlug has a drum synth that comes free with Computer Music magazine iirc, dunno what formats. Simple but fun, and good for retro synth perc. Quote
Kanthos Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 anyone have any sexy moans? Sample a porn movie. Quote
Kanthos Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 Ok then, find some friends and get them to agree to have an audio recorder in the room while they're having sex. I don't think you're going to find anyone who has sampled moans and can just give them out. That's...not a common need... Quote
ad.mixx Posted July 15, 2011 Posted July 15, 2011 Thanks for the fast response. Unfortunately I'm so forgetful, that once I realized the "effect" I was looking for was named a cymbal roll (because I happened to stumble across one while browsing setzer_spc), I kind of forgot to come back and edit my post. Thanks, though! Quote

Koriantor Posted August 3, 2011 Posted August 3, 2011 There are some Mass Effect synths that I've been trying to figure out. The bass synth and the swirl build synth . Any ideas? (or at the very least, a place to start?) Quote
Yoozer Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 As always: what do you have at your disposal? Quote
Koriantor Posted August 4, 2011 Posted August 4, 2011 Zebra 2, Synth1, Sytrus, and Morphine (and I suppose all of the other Image-Line plugins, but they're demo versions). Quote
Anorax Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 Alrighty, I need LOTS of synths. I just can't seem to synthesize any of them myself, on any synth. So here.I need the ambient one from this, and also the bell-like one (possibly a gamelan?): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kxJFXvyCu3M Any and all help would be REALLY appreciated! EDIT: I use FL9, and if you're giving me a preset for a synth, the synth better be free! hmm... bserrano's Artemis can create a similar effect, and it's also in it's main preset set as: "Prologue". (And Artemis is free!) Quote
Anorax Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Sorry for double-posting, but does anyone know where I could find a version of Spectrasonic's Atmosphere? I know they dicontinued it, but I was wondering if anyone knows where I could get a copy, preferrably for free (or cheap)... Quote

Cash Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 I think the links on the starting post should be updated. Many of the links lead to sites that are obsolete because of age, or they no longer exist. This would benefit everyone, especially novices such as myself. Just a suggestion. Quote
Anorax Posted November 7, 2011 Posted November 7, 2011 Does anyone know how to make the lead synth used in Skrillex's remix of In For The Kill? the sound I'm looking for starts around 1:54 Quote
Nutritious Posted December 1, 2011 Posted December 1, 2011 Hey guys, I'm trying to get the evil piano sound from mario 64 haunted house, but haven't had any luck searching through posted game sfx. Anyone happen to have it or know how to obtain it? Quote
Anorax Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Hey guys, I'm trying to find an audio VST that can auto-harmonize an audio signal, either via a preset harmony table or MIDI send data. I'm looking for a vst effect version of the TC Helicon VoiceTone Harmony M. Does anyone know of any effects like this? Quote

Rozovian Posted December 8, 2011 Posted December 8, 2011 Looking for strings spiccato or jeté, whatever, the sound of the bow being bounced on the string. I know some of the more expensive strings packages have stuff like this, but I was looking for something more affordable. Quote
