Funny story, I've never actually played FFIX, but I downloaded a lot of the music a long time ago, so I've heard many of the songs over and over.  So I could pick out a lot of familiar tunes here.  Suffice to say, I really enjoyed this.  It might not be live orchestra, but it's dang close.  Great job.

I really liked it, Beautiful mix.

This song was just simply so beautiful. It hit all the right spots to make you feel. I played Final Fantasy IX back in the day and I still have my disc copy for PSX. The ending of the song hit me the hardest (with emotional chills going through my body), as it reminded my very strongly of the ending cut scene from the ending of the game. The cut scene filled me with happy and also sad emotions, you song did the same thing with how well it captured this part of the story.

How in the world is this a first-timer's arrangement? Man, the touch on some of the quieter sections is handled with someone of double-digit mix experience... or someone with some deep appreciation for FF IX and a talent for evocative and moving sequences... or both! Props to the remix here, as I enjoyed the ebb and flow of both fullness and pace (special props to the quiet handling of the theme around 4 minutes). This is as enjoyable as an orchestral gets, in my opinion; sit back and relax. Loved it!

Generally somber/nostalgic mood, occasional leaps in self-confidence, introspective lapses... I can practically hear the thoughts of a wanderer: "Is home the way I left it? How much have I changed? Will I be welcomed? I've come this far; might as well keep going..." Appropriate title and an effective illustration of how coming home is by no means straightforward.
