Rayza Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Here's my online dating intro "I make electronic music for fun, not trying to make a career out of it cuz y'all mofuckers steal shit and think you deserve to own our music for free, so fuck you bitch.." I get no hits.. Quote
po! Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 i don't see the need for another term. we're all musicians, producers, composers, audio engineers, etc.. there's already terms to describe what we do. and everybody uses computers nowadays, so there's no point in distinguishing the fact that we use DAWs Quote
sgx Posted August 10, 2007 Posted August 10, 2007 Doesn't the word "programmer," mentioned by Sil, cover all of this already? I know in the industry the term refers primarily to drum sequences, but unglamorous as it sounds, "programmer" or "music programmer" may already be an accepted "title." I already have been using this word to describe myself and what I do. Music programmer sounds either like youre coding (which could makes sense if you're heavy into CSound or something, but other wise not), or almost like your DJing - setting up schedules for playing songs like TV Programmers do... The name for this is not needed and no one but one forum will heed it as analoq said. I just say I produce and compose electronic music. meh. I am an electronic music producer/composer. Quote
Argitoth Posted August 11, 2007 Author Posted August 11, 2007 I am an electronic music producer/composer. And then you get people thinking, "Oh you do that "Ooom Tss Ooom Tss" stuff?" Quote
Argitoth Posted August 11, 2007 Author Posted August 11, 2007 Voting process it taking place only in KVR, the only place you're allowed to create polls. http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=188049 Quote
suzumebachi Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 now who's being the negative nancy? i read a lot of magazines say i'm a producer. no, wrong. i'm a composer. like a amadeus or something. like a mozart. you see i'm just one of the greatest. Quote
sgx Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 And then you get people thinking, "Oh you do that "Ooom Tss Ooom Tss" stuff?" That's what people think when they hear "DJ." Quote
Tricklozen Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 If you change synth-sound parameters you're not a synth programmer, you're a sound-parameter configurator, and if you change the sound parameters over time, you're a sound-parameter configuration sequencer. Sound-parameter configuration sequencer. Quote
Prasa_U. Posted August 13, 2007 Posted August 13, 2007 So you're going to try and push this term into wikipedia and apparently the dictionary, and I guess eventually common usage, just because 10 or so people at KVR Audio feel like it? (of which half of the votes are probably joke votes). Quote
