The circle beside your name

I just noticed that there's a circle next to the username when you look at someone's posts. Sometimes it's filled in, other times not. What does it mean? And my apologies if I should have figured this out somewhere else.

if it's green, it means the person is online. If not, there off line.

If it's red, it means you don't want to be seen as online but I can still see you.

Of course though, there are those who wish to be one with the shadows and only "appear" offline...
