OCR02382 - Sonic & Knuckles "Quicksander"
souldragon777 replied to djpretzel's topic in ReMix Reviews & Comments
YESSSSSSSSSSSS....more....MOre.....MORE!!!! As a fan of dubstep just before it got really big I am impressed with this amazing work, and I agree that he made the drops as part of the actual rythem to the song which was more impressive, I do like dubstep but it doesn't mean I like all dubstep, just like with any song it has to be done right and this was not done right...it was done FANTASTIC!!!! Keep up the good work! Sorry I can't add anything that add to any technically or musically critique but I have just been one of those "lurkers" on this website for a long time and appreciate all the work everyone contributes to this site and had my own dream of making a remix worthy of this community and submitting it but I am still an amateur if you can even call me that! -

Used Game Stores, Sega Saturns, and other things
souldragon777 replied to EC2151's topic in General Discussion
Ahh Saturn. I've had mine since...when was it now... I think since 1996 or 1997 when it first came out and it still runs great! Though my library is limited and funny enough I was actually looking at craigslist yesterday and i beleive I saw someone selling Dragon Force for about $30 though with out the box. Some games I like are Shining Wisdom (Action RPG) it's fun little game very Zelda-esque. If you are a fan of Dragon Ball Z (or a hardcore fan like I was back in the day) you may find some fun in Dragon Ball Z Legends, though its not really that great of a game, but fun nonetheless. I remember I went to study abroad in Tokyo and picked up Panzer Dragoon and Panzer Dragoon Zwei at the used game shop -
Video game remixes that aren't on OC
souldragon777 replied to mickomoo's topic in General Discussion
These are some of my favorite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GXziKD-Yxos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c92Pbye88i0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AGBPWVZIwxc Oh can't forget this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0z7OCaiByw what would the judges rate on that last one? -
I know rap uses a lot of samples, but I am surprised that this particular song isn't getting some attention around these forums. How many times do we hear video game music in mainstream media? In fact let's just turn this into a thread where people post up VG themes in mainstream music. Here is another one: sound quality isn't great but I think many people will recognize the sampled beat in this one.
-
Alright so I didn't see a topic about this and I know there have been discussions about the issue of sampling but this is kinda ridiculous http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a0z7OCaiByw The blatant sample is directly from the SNES soundtrack of Chrono Trigger Schala's theme. It sounds like the producer just straight ripped it from the soundtrack. I don't think I woulda minded as much if he sampled the melody but I guess that would be asking too much. I know we've heard of artists ripping off videogame music and other sources before, but this is the first I know where a more or less "famous" artist used a track from a videogame that probably has one of the most if not THE most well-known soundtracks in the VG community. Thoughts? Do you guys care? I don't know if Mitsuda is collecting royalties on this one. I believe that there are some creative uses of samples for beats but this one just seems more of a straight cut and drum loop arrangement than anything else. ...Oh in just in case you need the source material

I would recommend this Not that I'm some expert in Electro House, also there were some other Vectorman remixes done a long time ago that made it on a label from Sega Tunes Vectorman Title theme Stage 1 theme

Apparently Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Michael Jackson did collab on the soundtrack. I remember there were debates on these forums before so I don;t know if this was ever confirmed but it seems like it is now. MJ wanted to take his name off the project because the sound quality was "so poor". http://videogames.yahoo.com/events/playback/playback-94/1380785 Any thoughts on this?

Yea I bought mine today before my shift started (I work at Dell). I just saw it was sold out which I expected to happen. The same thing happened when we had those crazy deals on the 20" monitors for $90 and 23" for $149. When they have those accessory deals they only have a limited supply so you gotta grab them quick! Can't wait to get my PSP!

Hey just to let you guys know dell.com will be selling a PSP 2000 for $109 after $60 instant savings, I think its free shipping too! It's starts on June 24 - 25th. I'm gonna pick this up for myself. I hear there isn't a big diff between the 2000 and 3000 versions in fact I've heard that the 2000 version preferred. I think its a good buy so I'll pick it up and maybe get a 4GB stick too. There's a lotta PSP games I've been wanting to play, all the MGS games,God of war COO, FF dissidia, and some others that I can't think of right now.

Like a lot of people I liked Assassins' Creed initially then got a little bored and frustrated with some of the repetitiveness so I stopped playing after a while. Recently I started playing again and finally beat it and yes was disappointed with the end and all, but I did like the story and of course me being a little biased I loved the setting (hey how many games take place in a middle east setting that's not a war FPS or have a muslim as the main charater?) I'm actually interested in the history of the crusade period now. I appreciated the game for what it is, a good stealth action game. I just wish that collecting the flags would have unlocked something...maybe that was something they left out so they can rush the game out. I did go back and play some of the assassinations because I royally fucked up on a lot of them and actually wanted to assassinate them not fight 20 gaurds and then "assassinate" the target. I can't wait for the sequel and I hope they have some hidden secrets in the game like extra weapons or extra missions.

Well I've had a few funny hahas when playing some games but here is one that comes to mind when I played Syphon Filter 2 on PS1. Go to about 3:38 on the video... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fnlyCgokP0U At first I was like WTF?!? I thought I was the good guy... then I just started cracking up lolz. I guess it is pretty dark humor...but man was it unexpected to hear him say that.

Bump So I found the vid again! Someone else was kind enough to post it. Its a remix of the megaman 8 stage select theme

Okay I apologize about the remixer suicide notion... I wasn't serious and didn't mean to offend anyone. Sorry if I did. Secondly since I wasn't able to find much info on google and the fact this is a site that people come to find videogame remixes, I thought I could find someone who knew a bit more information on these mixes. Also the account on youtube that was closed down was not the remixer, but he was giving credit to 48 mx for making it. I'm still trying to find info any way i can.
