  1. Wow I thought I was dealing with a Piano/classical type interpretation at the start, the beat drop was extremely welcome and a fun surprise. I am absolutely loving the retro vibes. Reminds me of those action/thriller 80s movies. You know the ones I am referring to: dark, brooding, but a lone hero in a dying world has to get the job done anyway against near insurmountable odds. A big fan, time to go watch Terminator 1! Or maybe that zombie movie where the guy plays chess by himself up in the apartment? Phenomenal work!
  2. Uh, wow! Crazy talented group of musicians there, or, I imagine, one guy with like 8 instruments attached to his body in various ways..... Not a song I can listen to in the background, feel like it really forced my attention otherwise the song made me lost in the chaos of the changing instruments. Once I embraced this wild mix I got swept along and enjoyed this very unique piece. Bravo for coming up with such an interesting genre mash up.
  3. Several things just "feel right". Hit me in several weakpoints: ethereal choir, some zippy synth melody, and a, hmmm tight/stiff bass beat? I am a man that struggles to grasp the correct language for what the music is telling me, but this entire track is incredibly pleasing to my ear, and opens my imagination where I begin creating stories/scenarios in my head. 5 stars!
  4. Fantastic track that I come back to every so often. Everyone needs a happy town to rest in now and then. Although the last minute is a bit much for me, feels like someone is hitting me with a happy hammer with the forceful nature of the volume or something...
  5. Beautiful track, has that cozy uplifting feeling that reminds me of an old remix that was titled "town theme"....Think I will look that one up after one more listen of this!
  6. I am not a huge acoustic guitar fan but it fit so correctly in this mix I have to applaud the artist. It enhances the haunting/mysterious feeling of the original. A great example of a musician leaning into the feel of the melody with instrument choice.
  7. Fantastic take on this theme. This melody is already so excellent I guess you could say it's hard to screw up. I am an OG listener and I tend to prefer the heavy electronic style of that era, so this one surprised me with how pleasing the rock song came together with this theme. Was a instant download from me, wonderful.
  8. DJ Pretzel you are an amazing dude. I found OCRemix in the glorious heyday of my middle/highschool years, and I had endless fun hanging out with friends and "mining" cool new tracks that we would download and make mp3 cds from. The good old days when most of the music was techno, Hah! I am just rambling because I have been a casual explorer with no musical background for about 24 years here on the site, and wow, the love and passion of this project just oozes good vibes. One of my favorite things was DJ Pretzel's critiques. I did not have an ear for music at all, but the more I listened to his reviews/critiques/judgements and explanations of the music, I felt my own understanding and listening habits change. I began to notice little details and appreciate what the remixer was going for. As a non musician it's hard to put into words how much appreciation I have rooted in this little corner of the digital universe, even as a non contributor I have a warm feeling for this community and wish for continued success and music. Now time to go browse some old remixes from you OG admins back in the day. P.S. I am beginning my journey under a mentor to repair and play piano, so maybe one day, I will contribute to this community, or maybe my daughter when she's old enough to learn, will also be inspired by the music OCRemix has spread.
  9. Thanks for giving me closure on a Warsong Remix, that whole game has amazing possibilities for future remixes so I'll keep my eye out. It's too bad one hasn't made it to "official" remix level, but I saved Dax's mix to play which means I won't haunt these forums after I die. (yeah another ancient thread necro - =x)
  10. So....uh.....All I can say is thanks so much for selecting my requested game for remix competition!!! I am so TILTED I did not know about this/ghosted the forums for a long time!! Going to listen to all these if still available and cast a ceremonial vote even though the competition is over for uhhh..5 years! Can definitely say with my Newbie judging skills that Dax earned that first place, I did go down the rabbit hole to try to find your revised track for the submission panel and it seems like that link no longer works? Do you still have a copy to share? If not all good, this piece is something that can make me happy a truly epic remix was completed in a fashion that does honor to the high energy, high power feeling it always gave me playing the game. That being said I enjoyed every submission that was made in various ways, the creative ways you guys disect songs or put it in an unexpected pacing was a pleasure as well and reminds me there's lots of different ways to hear possibilities in a melody. Now that I found this 12 years after my original post(i also think I have some old forgotten accounts from the early 2000s) You guys dont have to worry about me haunting this site after im dead bumping 50 year old threads!
  11. Hey guys anyone want to give this a shot?
  12. Definitely bump worthy, there are some real gems in here to remix, the entire playlist is full of wonderful soundtracks =)
  13. Awesome man, I'll be on the lookout!!
  14. Hi folks, I have posted very little here in the ten or so years I have enjoyed this haven of fantastic music. There has been a request ever since I found this site I was hoping would be done, I was surprised such a quality soundtrack was left untouched. That soundtrack is from the game Warsong (originally Langrisser a German Game). Anyone who listens through the various tracks should be able to appreciate the wonderful melody the game offers. The game itself was a fantastic hybrid RPG/Strategy game where you commanded a hero unit and up to 9 soldiers for each hero unit.. There were I believe 20 scenarios in all and some were quite challenging. Down to the nitty gritty, my request is for the title music of Warsong(although any track is perfect for a remix!!!), which can be listened to here along with any other track from the soundtrack: What I enjoy about the title music is it possesses a very powerful feel to it, epic battle about to commence, goosebumps on the flesh kind of melody that I think a lot of folks can appreciate. I personally see a techno/trance as the most likely candidate for a remix to preserve that chiptune feel it has, but I could see a talented remixer giving it a life all its own with a rock or orchestral arrangement. Anyway that's just my 2 cents, I stream my online gaming live at twitch.tv/knuckle87 and I make it a point to stream ocremix tracks most of the time and have always done my best to link this website in any game forum I've played in for the last decade. Anyway I appreciate all the talent, sacrifice, and hardwork of the staff to keep this place running year after year and the talented musicians that make it what it is. Cheers. edit: just saw I had requested this track 3 years ago without realizing it, sorry for the forum spam ;D http://ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=28698
