Hi--

Here's another remix I did. It's a remix of the Birdo song from Super Mario Bros 2. I tried to keep to the original feeling, but also tried to make it different. Here's the remix file address:

The name of the remix is Birdo's Electric Omelet. Also, I'd like my name to be Kyle Nin. And my website is:

Thanks.

Mario 2 had more than two songs in it? I keep forgetting. heh.

Alright, lets see what we've got here.

Ok, I see what you're trying to do here, but I really don't feel like the

dissonance in the first minute in the marimba like line versus the staps

works. It almost sounds like they are out of tune because of a ring mod

or because of a shift in a sample or soundfont. You might want to check

into that. The FM guitar line that starts hitting really isn't bringing any focus

or drive into the track. So far everything has felt really jumbled. Once

you finally bring in that bass line things are getting some momentum,

but that guitar line just feels awkward versus it. By this point you've

probably lost most listeners because they don't want to be patient with the

repetition of the intro. The break in the last minute is a nice change,

the richness and warmth of the simple samples is a nice change

versus the harsh overtones of that stabby line. If you drop the first

minute or two and expand on this end section you might have a nice

minimalistic track. I could hear this turning into a minimal

trance type deal with some smooth reverbed sawwave leads doing a

drawn out arppegio line over your foundation. Because of the simplicity

of the track you might want to think about reworking this with the

idea of "Radio Edit" in mind. You've got a simple theme to present, so you

have to grab the listeners attention right off the bat.

Maybe we'll see this a little more developed one day in the future,

but for now:

NO

(Yeah, so this is more of a writeup in the style of a WIP post, but

since these are released on the other board we might as well try and

be more helpful in our feedback and thoughts, right?)

Check it out man. Cross-reference if you can. This is supposed to be from Mario 2. It's not. I mean, I THINK I know what he's trying to go for here, but it's just not in that game. The music he's thinking of, I believe, is the miniboss theme, but it plays on the tritone interval throughout. This is... not that. Not to mention it's slow moving, (developmentally, not tempo-wise, for tempo is irrelevant) it does not interest my ear and those tom...marimba... things... are definitely causing some chaos with the rest of the piece, not to mention that grating guitar ... thing. Anyway, I ... don't know what else to say about this.

I dont remember this at all.

I'll check the Birdo Mini-boss theme when I get home.

Pros:

...

Cons:

I dont really like the part that starts at 0:01 and goes until, um.... 4:43. That part hits me the wrong way.

No seriously, this is too simple, repetitive. It holds no musical aspect of the originals. It feels like someone's second attempt at FL.

Skills take time to develop, remember that.

Although, I commend kyle for surpassing the 2:20 limit that seems to have possesion of all recent submissions.

OKAY... I don't remember this song either.

This song is totally problematic for me. Way too simplistic (not necessarily a good thing here) and repetitive. And those FM hits at 1:48 come in out of no where, and are totally out of place. The same things just repeat over and over in this song. Not pleasing at all. He did the ID3 tags perfectly, though :D
