  1. The Master System is a great gem of a system which I had the fortune of owning back in the day in addition to a NES. The sound chip is not among my favorites though. It is quite rudimentary compared to the likes of the 2A03 for NES or SID for C64, with only basic square tones (you can alter the pulse width on the others) and a less flexible noise. It also has less pitch range than the others. This results in a fairly homogenized sound and lacks the different styles and character you could hear on the other systems. It was quite an old chip though, developed in 1979 I believe so it predates the others by several years. The other chips were tailored specifically for the systems while this was third party technology which was implemented in several products, like the later models of the ZX Spectrum.

  2. I may have played this out live on Halloween night. Brilliant treatment of the voice clips, production is super clean, soundset is tasty. I know you already stopwatched it, and it *feels* like a Portal 2 mix all the way through, so I'm not gonna nitpick. Having the constant kick drum gets a little old, and we could really use a breather in the middle, but I don't think that's enough to hold this otherwise-stellar mix back from passing. <-- That issue is fixed with the new version, and it's fantastic now! This mix is not a lemon, and I am not sending it back! YES

  3. I never want to hurt butts when I point this out but that's inevitable... it might be hard for a site that takes 6 months to a year for judgements to maintain an active member base. A year is a long time, by the time those judgements come out, people could have either given up with music entirely, or the feedback is irrelevant because they've improved. I would love nothing more than for this community to be large and thriving, and there to be music spilling out of every corner of the site, but that's not the way it's going right now We're all busy and getting old (I'm 28 now) and it's time that we get replaced with the new generation of remixers, but it's harder than ever for them to actually be a part of OCR
