  2. My best game deal ever was probably back when Halo 2 had just come out. I was at Blockbuster and noticed that a Halo 2 box had a mislabeled price sticker on it. Instead of how much it should regularly cost brand new ($59.99 I believe) it said $5.99. I took it to the register and they noticed something was wrong, but sold it to me anyway. I didn't even have an Xbox at the time but I couldn't pass up on it. At a different Blockbuster I was also able to get brand new copies of Beyond Good and Evil and Psychonauts (both PS2) for seven dollars each. I know that isn't really a spectacular deal now, but at the time it was great. Also, last year when one of my friends moved away he sold me his very clean NES for 10 dollars and a bunch of really great games (Metroid, Zelda, Castlevania, Final Fantasy, etc etc) for two dollars each. Happy times!

  3. For me, I enjoy replaying a number of single player games...

    Zelda: Ocarina of Time

    Zelda: Link's Awakening

    Metal Gear Solid

    Several Final Fantasies

    Super Mario World

...As well as a number of multiplayer games with friends.

    Secret of Mana

    Street Fighter II Turbo

    Super Mario Kart

Edit: Oh, games you can beat in one day. Well, most of those can be completed in a relatively short amount of time.

  4. The one thing about birthday threads that I hate is that during that two week period where everyone was arguing about them and they were temporarily suspended, I had my birthday. Four years and not one birthday thread. Not. One.

Holy crap that is like 17 different threads you have brought that up in.

    Anyway, happy barfday little child!

  5. Yeah, I definitely agree. If you want to point to definitive reasons as to why you believe Twin Snakes is worse (such as the voice acting or the music) that's fine. But I'm really tired of this "you ruined a classic" mentality. Games and movies are remade quite frequently, and NOT ALL OF THEM SUCK.

Twin Snakes is a fantastic game, and in no way ruined the classic Metal Gear Solid. It was simply an updated look on the game, and a very well done one at that. However, it is not a masterpiece. The PS1 Metal Gear Solid was a masterpiece.

  6. the PS1 version is superior in every way EXCEPT for the graphics. The cutscenes are more emotional, the music is better, voice acting is better, and IMO the experience is better than it's Gamecube counterpart. The Gamecube makes a few corrections (like changing a few characters accents for story reasons, minor things like that), but other than that, go with the PlayStation version. Or like they said up there, get the Essential Collection.

The Gamecube version is interesting to mess around with, but... meh, the cutscenes are done really over the top, and I hope it's not nostalgia speaking, but the PS1 version really has a different aura about it while playing through it. It just feels better.

There are some REALLY emotional parts in the original version that are lost in the Gamecube one. Trust me. I know their mouths don't move, but they change the music and the feeling and everything. I guess I'm kind of a Metal Gear purist, but it just... a lot of scenes lose their impact on the Gamecube version.

Definitely agree here, particularly about some of the more emotional scenes that just did NOT translate well to Twin Snakes. Thus, I'd recommend the PS1 version any day of the week. Even the graphical overhaul of Twin Snakes cannot convince me otherwise. Besides, another thing lost in the Twin Snakes was the really gritty feel of the PS1 original, which was a huge part of the atmosphere.

  7. I can't see why. If they are afraid of people "stealing" it, then why put it out on any website at all? Any format one can use to distribute media can be used to copy it.

If it's the comments, there is the option to filter and screen comments before hey are even posted.

If it's some sort of elitist mindset bullshit, tell them to suck it up and go with the bigger, wider way for people to see it.

If it's an issue with image and sound quality, then there's no making them happy.

/not some sort of youtube fanboy, it's just easier and quicker than signing up for some other site.

Thank you, The Damned. We both appreciate and value your opinion on the matter of JJT's acting talents.

  8. Personally, I find the Hulk to be a rather boring character when compared to other Marvel characters. So there's really not too much you can draw from when doing a feature film on him. Because of this limitation, I think that the best Hulk movie can't possibly be better than the best Ironman movie. But it can be good in its own right.

For this film, I think that if you are a true comic book fan, then you will like it, if not love it. As an outsider not familiar with anything at all, you will probably not like it or find it mediocre at best.

    You nailed it.

  9. Title: Samurai Champloo

    Song: Counting Stars

    Artist: Nujabes

There are a lot of movies where this happens, but often the songs that do not appear on the soundtrack can be found pretty easily. This is particularly the case with Tarantino flicks (Kill Bill is a good example), but man the anime Samurai Champloo sure had a ton of great tracks that didn't appear on any of the original four Japanese soundtracks. Another great missing song from Samurai Champloo is "Your Purpose" by Fat Jon. I couldn't find it on Youtube, but it's easily found on iTunes so give it a listen!

  10. Also, is it just me or does anybody else get sick of all the whiny characters in Evangelion? At least in Nadesico the only whiny character was Akito, though he eventually works his way out of it for the most part.

ITT the first person ever to think Evangelion characters were "whiny".

  11. I'm 20 and the Wii is my only system, I play it nearly everyday ever since I quit World of Warcraft about 3 or 4 weeks ago (So glad to be free). WoW sucked up about 4 years of my life and I neglected console gaming for a while. I don't like shooting games or sports games so there's no reason really for me to buy a 360 or Ps3.

I usually play Brawl (7 hrs+) or Geometry Wars: Galaxies (Love that game) a lot of the time. If I'm not playing those two I usually play the new Wii Ware Dr. Mario or Mario Kart with my parents. They used to play Dr. Mario on the NES back in the day with me and when the Wii Ware for it came out I surprised them with it and they play nearly everyday with me now, it's pretty funny.

Hey that's pretty cool. It's nice hearing about console games and systems bringing families closer together in contrast to all the negative videogame articles that are out there.

  12. 22 here. I have a Wii, but I've played it maybe a total of about five hours in the past five or so months. I really would like to play it more, but just too busy with college and life to play videogames now. When summer school's done I hope to finish Super Mario Galaxy, though.
