This doesn't have a whole lot to do with what I'm about to recommend to you, but I love Kurosawa films too.
But anyway, yes, considering your interests I do recommend the first Ghost in the Shell film. As far as the tv show goes (GithS: SAC--which I haven't seen), I've heard it's solid but far less grittier than the original film, which is a turnoff for me. A few other anime I'd recommend off the top of my head would be...
and the works of Satoshi Kon
These are well-known titles (I'm sure others can fill you in on less mainstream works), and also mostly for an older audience (particularly Berserk). Read a bit about these and see if any sound interesting.

Can't you hack the PS2 version of the game and do the same thing?
If you can then maybe people would be willing to make the notes (or whatever it called) of OCR songs.

Yeah, it's clear the guitar-shaped spaceship is old news, but it's awesome how Interstella 5555 had one too. I seem to remember a live-action 80s movie that had one too, but I can't remember. Maybe Explorers? It's been too long.

You know, not too many people have ever heard of that one, but for a movie with no spoken dialog, it is really awesome.
Yeah, most people who don't listen to Daft Punk aren't aware of the movie's existence, which is a shame. Truly some great stuff.

Somebody must have asked this already but what are some "must have" anime movies? I own both Ghost in the Shell movies but I pretty much have neglected anime after that(except ones that come out on Adult Swim); When the hell is Direct TV gonna get the all anime channel/channels that Cable have anyway? I've heard theirs a petition some where about them adding these channels but that was awhile ago. Thanks in advance.

Shiro Sagisu all the way. He did the OSTs to Evangelion and Bleach and they were fantastic (save for the second Bleach OST, which kinda sucked.).
He also did a very good job on the soundtrack to His and Her Circumstances.

Same here. Along with his excellent Champloo contributions, I'm a huge fan of Nujabes' Metaphorical Music and Modal Soul--both are incredible albums.

The story behind my handle is pretty simple. A friend from Japan once told me that Toad (of Mario fame) in Japan is called "Kinopio," which I thought was pretty damn cool at the time. Unfortunately I also misheard him and thought he said "Kenobio," and by the time I found out my error I had already established myself as Kenobio. I almost always use this handle for any online game or forum and also for pokerroom.com and Fulltilt, so keep an eye out!
