  1. I'm a jazz musician myself, but you beat me to it as far as doing a jazz mix goes. This is really fantastic quality. And you stuck in my favorite chord at around 2:25, that minor 9. bonus points. actually, i dont really like the kind of carnivaly segment at around 4:00 but it becomes quite enjoyable again around 5:00. the drums stood out to me as being particularly sophisticated. As i listen to the radical dreamers mixes, i am starting to think that i just dont like the OST to that game. seems kind of generic to me. but that's no fault of yours, and i commend you on a fantastic mix. i want to know which instruments were live and which were synth. -Vig
  2. After listening to this mix again for the first time in a few months, this mix is probably one of my favorite on the site. actually i think you could easily bill this as original material. the only similarities are the heavily altered lullabye melody and the beginning of the guitar solo. very original and very nice. -Vig
  3. I'm very encouraged by all the positive feedback i have recieved, and id like to again thank everyone that took the time to listen and review my song, and as always, comments/questions are always welcome at JTNights@attbi.com I was bored so i thought i would make a few comments on the mix. I was a little suprised at the several comparisons made between "Liquid Metal" and new age music. I was mainly suprised because I have never listened to a new age song in my life. I think. at any rate I certainly wouldnt recognize new age music if i heard it. So no, there were no new-age influences going into the mix. Actually this particular mix (its the second one i've done, look for the first coming up this week or next) just kind of arranged itself. It took virtually no time at all, compared to my first mix. everything just flowed. It sounds strange, but if there was any musical influence on this mix, it would be Tom Waits. although they arent terribly similar, i'd reccomend that if you liked "liquid Metal," listen to "ruby's Arms." anyway, thats all i've got for now. Thanks again, your feedback has convinced me to keep on mixing. -Vig
  4. too tired to post review now, will do later. but right now, i want to bring this to everyone's attention: is it me, or does the saga frontier logo look like it says "salsa frontier"? for a long time i thought it was salsa because of that logo.
  5. Thank all of you for your input. I'm flattered that my first mix was met with such positive responses. Feel free to email me with any comments/criticisms, requests, whatever. I really do apreciate it. As for the future, I submitted something Megaman about 2 months ago, so keep an eye out in the coming weeks. Thankful to DJP for creating such a great site -Vig
  6. lets see...Roland JV Session...*opens home studio* there it is. its called DEMO nylon.
  7. well legion, actually, the guitar solo IS me, playing on a 1967 gibson hummingbird acoustic with a lawrence acoustic pickup. I'm a guitarist first
  8. um...ok. i'm glad the "Idea" was good, but what about the actual mix?
  9. Err, yes, about the title, the word "Metal" is as in, "metal gear solid" "liquid" is the word more accurately describing the mix (and the main bad guy as it turns out.) i know this is misleading. sorry about that. well, not really. but i understand how it is misleading and it was not my intention.
  10. I commend Injury's creativity and very good remix. the vocals were good, but indeed too quiet. i would listen to it all the time except for one fatal flaw...the song is brought down several notches by WAAAAY too much reverb. i have been known to be a little heavy on the 'verb myself, but there is simply too much in this remix. everything is muddled because of it. the piano sounds muddy, the vocals are faint. and its a shame because the performance and creativity aspects are so there. i would love to hear a v. 1.1 of this song with less reverb and louder vocals.
  11. hmm. id have to say Mother Brains second phase in Super Metroid. you know, when you discover she isnt just a brain, but shes a dinosaur, and shes all big and scary. (Joke!) really tho, in my experience, a lot of the Megaman X's had some tough final bosses in a row and you couldnt fill your health back up. but maybe thats my perception because i havent played megaman X-X3 since i was 11
