  1. Whatchuwant? You're a posted mixer, it's all good. Just host a 32x32 GIF, make sure it's not bad quality and let's go.
  2. It's not worth too much thought, but I like the informal system I have for YouTube. For example: http://youtube.com/1NryFD9_hR0 - There are 4 arrangers, but I could only fit 1 in the video title, and I know Theophany was the lead, I'm going to put his name there first. It wouldn't make sense to list Docjazz4 if I can only fit 1 arranger name just because D comes first alphabetically. People are often guilty of skimming over information and not giving credit where credit is due, and I don't have the benefit of including the writeup in the video description to provide context, so sometimes not listing artist in alpha order on the video title helps me for either space or recognition concerns. Can't please everyone though.
  3. M came before R. But the intention is to list lead arranger first on YouTube, and I forgot to here, so fixed.
  4. Yeah, short as it was, I wish that was actually submitted back in the day.
  5. WillRock's KOF13 mix is my new JAM! The YM2612 bassline just takes me back to Road Rash/Revenge of Shinobi for some throwback Genesis-style win. Been looping to it while watching @ThatGuy330's Twitter avatar dance!
  6. Just posting a source tune breakdown for anyone interested! Great work here by the Dragons! Mortal Kombat II - "In the Beginning," :14-:35, 2:47-3:15 Mortal Kombat 3 - "The Subway," :35-1:32 Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance - "Character Selection Screen", 1:36-1:50, 2:18.75-2:47

  8. Hardy har. On a serious note, I've taken the survey. Foe mentioned to me that the long-form questions are purposefully open-ended, for anyone curious when they get to them.
  9. There's no chart and no plans to make a chart, though if someone wants to use their spare time to make one, that's cool. If you use the search function at the top-right of the site, searching any old ReMixer names should bring up the correct results as well. That said, there are probably some gaps, so if you need help on anyone, ask. Also in the ID3 tags of all the ReMixes, the URL field is the OCR Artist Profile URL of the ReMixer (or lead ReMixer in the case of a collaboration). Every artist page has their list of Aliases, i.e. other handles the artist has been known by. e.g. halc (formerly halcyon): http://ocremix.org/artist/4793/halc e.g. Mattias Häggström Gerdt (formerly Another Soundscape): http://ocremix.org/artist/4751/mattias-haggstrom-gerdt e.g. Jillian Aversa (formerly pixietricks): http://ocremix.org/artist/4659/jillian-aversa
  10. Ignore what those people are saying. I try to be forward thinking. We may not do something for a long while, but one day it won't make sense not to offer something along the lines of what's you're talking about. We originally offered an update for every 100 mixes, but my project put that on hold until now. We plan to do updated bundles for every 100 mixes.
  11. Yeah, the medley structure not being smooth or having a strong direction ended up being an issue re: the standards. Forgetting the medley-itis for a moment, Marc, the energy in this piece was just halfway there and that killed it dead. The textures here were way too thin, and the quality disparity between the live & sampled stuff (e.g. strings, drums) was pretty apparent. Like the others have said, there's loads of potential here, and it's not as if this piece is poor, but it lacks fullness and energy. Even if you there were just 2 or 3 themes, those two issues (thin textures & fake-sounding sequenced instruments) undermined the arrangement too much to pass, IMO. Along with that, some of the theme development was OK, but the structure and flow of the piece definitely was not cohesive, despite some cool personalization and interpretation of several themes. But it's too many short takes on themes without enough development of at least a few themes, and some awkward transitions (though most of those were OK). The potential of this piece wasn't realized enough. See what more can be done to flesh out the background instrumentation and give this arrangement more flow. Some of the themes got some breathing room to develop, but the overall flow & direction of the piece was awkward. You have some good potential, so definitely don't be discouraged. Learn more about how to beef up your textures and work on your structure. With some better-sounding sampled parts, or improving your production skills, you'll have a fuller, more realistic sound to your sampled instruments. NO
  12. Ate a McRib last night. Was amazing! Must eat again! McRIB!
  13. Damn, 15 thousand Facebook likes in 48 hours. You might as well pen a Gamasutra column about it, this got a ton of people in the gaming community hyped!
  14. Keep the standards in mind, though we definitely take the context of any piece into consideration.
  15. Yeah, even if this wasn't based off the Hyrule Symphony arrangement, some of the transitions were pretty weak. That said, the performances were pretty good. It's a cool rock interpretation here of the Hyrule Symphony arrangement, but the arrangement is basically adapted from someone else's work. Even if we were to allow an arrangement of a previous professional arrangement (it's been done: http://ocremix.org/remix/OCR01164/), even more would need to be done for this arrangement to comparatively stand apart from the source arrangement. I'll come back to this later after I more closely compare the two versions, but I wouldn't NO Override it outright.
  16. I'm keeping it pretty short and sweet here. Hated the fakey electric guitar synth, but it's not meant to sound like a live guitar, so I'll have to look past it. Other than that, I enjoyed the arrangement here. Structurally, it's pretty straightforward, but the instrumentation and atmosphere and personalized subtly and nicely. 3:19's section felt like a brief but weak retread, but it wasn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things. Not my strongest YES, but it holds it down. Let's go. YES
  17. Patrick Burns www.patrickburns.us user id: 10666 game: Kirby's Adventure (NES) arrangement name: songs: Grape Garden stages: Rainbow Resort stages: This remix is about 2.5 years old -- I was only able to solve some its form issues when I revisited it a couple weeks ago. It has still got some issues I think, some forced continuity and a lack of stylistic identity, but I'm currently just trying to get some old mixes off my mind and out the door for someone to appreciate. Besides the Grape Garden and Rainbow Resort stage tunes, the Grape Garden stage select makes a brief appearance as well as an original melody, a synthesis of the themes that -- hopefully -- helps them feel a bit less juxtaposed. All the bass, bells, pads, guitars, flutes, and harp things are Logic's Sculpture synth. It's the most interesting synth I have at my disposal currently. (I really need to broaden my synth/beat toolset beyond built-in Logic -- I think a part of my brain still refuses to let go of the paradigm I learned from playing with midis at vgmusic.com -- i.e. it all begins and ends in the piano roll.) thanks for listening
  18. Listened in my car and I'm still feeling it. The timing's still loose, but the overall execution is solid enough and the arrangement carries it. My vote's still the same. YES
  19. Going on record as to doubting that the pleasing will subsequently occur.
  20. I have ninja'ed ownership of this thread to promote the game now that it's out. Capcom is counting the # of DLs on their server to gauge interest in Mega Man for the future. But their server is being hammered, so if you need the MediaFire mirror just to get the game, it's linked for you. Capcom asks that if you download the game somewhere other than their official site, that you go back later and download it again from their official site so that they can actually count the # of downloads. The game's about 33MB, BTW. • GET! 21. Hahaha! Good point; I should have put that in the context of the all the Seven Years album WIPs I've heard so far, as a lot of them were conservative for a lot longer and this one was different, but POINT TAKEN.
  22. Hahaha! Yeah, when I got the uncrossfaded WAVs from Wes and was vetting this for the flood, I heard that and though the quiet notes at the end were a nice, subtle touch. The people who pay attention to detail will hopefully hear it too. Great work all around!
