  1. You know, sometimes, I really wonder what goes on in that head of yours. Nah, guess it's better not to know. Here's to hoping that this burst of musical creativity inspired by that incredible four-day event called MAGfest will last until next year's version.
  2. I would like to do the Overworld theme (track 5). I got some info from Harmony that will hopefully assist me in producing something pretty epic for the theme with a different feel than the original (still in the frame of the project, of course!). I can has?
  3. Me and my roomie got UT3 working on our 7 64-bit beta's. What's the problem you're having?
  4. Ah, guess I should more extensively browse the forums...on the plus side, I did end up tagging remixer names to that IHOP pic of everyone for my own use next year, a nice little cheat sheet. I can't think of a good place to hang my nametag from this year, so right now it's hanging on my hat rack.
  5. I propose that, since there has been a lot of expression of "Oh shit, that was *such and such*?! I didn't know!", we make new tags for next year. It would consist of: Your birth name Your community/Remixer name A face-shot of you, highly encouraging facial expression like Harmony's DM face, one of Norg's or Virt's faces, or wearing a hoodie like Liontamer. Bonus points if you fit a hot dog or bacon in there. If all goes well, we'll all then switch tags and confuse everyone.
  6. Well, it has directx 11....wait, WHAT?! Yeah, it says directx 11...I'm intrigued.
  7. This is a needless thats-what-she-said line. But let's hope us constantly bombarding the sites with refreshes gets it into their little heads that WE WANT MOAR!
  8. Thanks for the link dude, but Microsoft is bullshitting us. That link gives a "page not found" error, and here's what it says on the Windows 7 site: Thanks for your interest in the Windows 7 Beta. The volume has been phenomenal—we're in the process of adding more servers to handle the demand. We're sorry for the delay and we'll re-post the Beta as soon as we can ensure a quality download experience. Well, this is a nice fuck-you-we-didn't-adequately-prepare-for-the-world-actually-wanting-a-trial-of-a-good-new-windows-beta message.
  9. Okay, so I've posted this around on my facebook a bit and had some responses, but I've been considering quite a few purchases for a new array of recording and playing tools and whatnot. Here is what I currently have in my usage: Cakewalk Sonar 7.0 Producer FruityLoops Studio XXL My computer (all stuff run through an XFI Platinum, MIDI, Audio cables, and USB) Gibson SG Faded 2008 () Epiphone Les Paul Standard Hohner Black Acoustic (Sometimes borrow my brothers Yamaha) Line 6 POD XT + metal shop + FX studio, floorboard Behringer 2x12 amp M-Audio Keystation 49e Here are the things I'm considering getting: New audio mics (for recording the acoustic, sometimes vocals) Sonar 8 Addictive Drums M-Audio Axiom 61 Simmons SD5K Electronic Drum Kit (has MIDI for using the soundfonts and my drum samples, I want something that I can use better than my keyboard/tracking to do drums) VOX AC30 or Orange AD30 M-Audio Fast Track Pro Mobile Optional - In case I feel like dropping $500 just for kicks, Spectrasonics Omnisphere I'm heavily considering my first three purchases of those to be the new sonar, the mics, and addictive drums. Any suggestions for different equipment?
  10. Great minds think alike! Oh, Bahamut! You know, I didn't realize you were you at MAGfest until I got back from MAGfest! I would've loved to have hung out with ya more, but next year for sure. Also, I overlooked this: they talk about something like "if you want to test this for gaming, you might need a more powerful computer". Whenever someone gets this beta up, do a dxdiag (hopefully they kept that) and see what version of directx comes with it. I'm going to test steam and some games on it once I get this stuff up and running!
  11. Okay, so I think I have this figured out, and it's good news (hopefully): Let us assume that, for the moment, Microsoft is smarter that I originally gave credit for, and that they have the links in place for downloading but haven't unleashed the beta key phase to non technet-pro subscribers (reinforced by the fact that on the first page links it has a specific link for those users). Therefore, they have all the links in place but haven't activated the site that generates the keys for registered users. This explains why, now, I'm having low refresh times on the error but still getting an error. It should break down to the following: Microsoft opens registration in the afternoon for Beta keys (sometime after 3 PM eastern time, 12 PM for the west coasters ), so all us who registered and did that email stuff are at the closest steps to getting the keys once unleashed. Keep refreshing the error page saying to come back the next business day, AND keep checking the windows 7 main page. It shouldn't be too much longer people!!!
  12. Four....Hours....Ago? Bajeezus! To quote another person on the forums, Microsoft basically created a DDoS on themselves with this key cap....
  13. Oh, this is wonderful: Error The site is currently experiencing technical difficulties, please check back in the next business day. Thats what I got once I finally got past the Live login screen.
  14. I got past the reg screen, followed the link, but now can't get past the second Live login. I guess patience and persistence is going to get this going today! So, are people gonna go for the 32-bit or 64-bit flavors? I'm going 64 myself.
  15. Yeah, but the way they worded it, it seemed like the download might be taken down after the keys run out. Regardless, I think I'm safe, and thanks to Majin GeoDooD and Brad for their quick posting on this. I think I just registered for the beta program while trying to download, but we shall see...keep you all up to date with where it goes, servers are so slow ATM.
  16. I know, but I'm more interested in even the 30-day trial on a spare partition even if I dont get a key, because I reinstall OSes all the time. I'm used to keeping stuff separated, and honestly am also interested in how stable it can be while I deliberately handly it terribly in some cases. True to the idea of beta testing, I guess. Yeah, I think they'll run out of those keys VERY quickly, but doubt they are out just yet.
  17. Oh yeah, downloads DEFINITELY under heavy load right now. I'm at work anyway, so I can't get it. Someone on here do me the favor of at least holding onto the ISO in case I get home too late to get it later today, please? Y'all rock!
  18. Brad, a direct link please?
  19. Notice a pattern of crappiness though? I started with 3.1, which was indescribably difficult to navigate, but considering I was under the age of 10 (I think I was 6 or 7?), I did alright. Then Windows 95 came out, and was...just...awful. Barely ran on my computer, and had no way to utilize any of what they considered eye-candy in that day (even my educational games barely ran). Then Windows 98 came out, and turned into a relatively stable OS (for the time and besides DLL hell): it ran quick-ish, ran all my games, and actually allowed me some music, video, and downloading endulgence. Then ME came out, and introduced a ton of new features (as 95 did after 3.1) but did not function at all in the intended ways. They refined it and changed the core, still including a ton of the new features from ME, and came out with XP shortly after. Then a long time and Vista finally rears its ugly head, introducing new features but being a total resource hog and being very un-user friendly, for typical AND power users. Albeit it grew on my after a while, but program incompatibility and a number of quirks prevented me from ever considering it a "primary OS candidate". Now, shortly after Vista came out, a new revision including mostly Vista features (a few new tweaks and additions) but being much more cleaned up is on its way. I can't help but feel that I paid to be part of some customer beta with Vista's final product. They need to come out with great, or at least usable, products consistently, instead of coming out with crap followed by the real deal. More activities like this could eventually lead to a Linux-leading software industry...not likely, but I'm starting to lose my patience.
  20. Oh, and I DEFINITELY interrupted James Rolfe in the Museum room playing Defender to sign my DVDs. I felt like a jerk a bit, but he was SO nice. I have nothing but respect for that man, and am eagerly awaiting his eventual encounter with Cheetahmen II....
  21. Goddamnit, yeah, I just read that too. UGH! Well, at least I got up for work early...
  22. Nonono. What Windows XP was to Windows Millenium Edition (ME). And I'm gonna grab the 64 bit first, I can live without 32-bit beta software that probably wont support my desired 32-bit software anyway. And yes, I need to squeeze out my memory to the limit.
  23. BRAD!!! Don't tell them! Keep it to ourselves. We'll download all 2.5 million copies...and then we'll RULE THE WORLD!!!! MUAHAHAHA! *cough* Oh, sorry, no, I had no malicious intent there whatsoever. Anyway, yeah, I'm looking forward to the public beta greatly. Should make for a night almost as exciting as new years....not really. When people get it, please post some experiences. Oh, and here are some more infos on the beta. It is open beta for the first 2.5 million, as has been said before, and the keys are said to work until August 1st, 2009. There will be builds of both 32-bit and 64-bit. The languages are limited to English, German, Russian, and I think Japanese, Spanish and maybe French. Downloadable as .iso's, burnable to DVD. From reactions I've read online, some things will not install (one site mentioned Adobe CS3 not installing on it), but it looks to be an extremely stable beta. I'm glad Microsoft got themselves back in gear with the QA and testing of these builds. Let's hope the community as a whole can get over whatever stigma there may be with Vista and that Windows 7 becomes, to Vista, as XP was to ME.
  24. First off, thank you for this. I told my housemates how white-ly I danced and I had to show them something. This was definitely one of the best moments I can recall, and my legs are still actually recovering from the dancing. Thank you all so much for that ridiculous set, and I definitely am hoping the audio rips make it somewhere online, cause the sets were sick. Great job all around in JamSpace, with much respect to all who planned (Kim, Noah, Dom, etc.) and played. Maybe Jade will do some heavy editing of their honeymoon tape and get some sweet hand-cam video of all of us shaking booty. Oh, and I'm sorry to that one person whom I accidentally elbowed. Dancing is not without its casualties! Blame Avaris's beer. Great efforts already in the works from the looks of it. Don't forget to sleep sometime, though. And I need a hot dog next year.
  25. What you playing at, fo'? She propositioned ALL of us at that game. And I still can't stop laughing. I'll never give you wood for your sheep ever again. And no, I don't have any brick.
