  1. Just a heads-up about my Terraria server:

In the interest of welcoming new players, as well as keeping things fresh, the map will be re-generated every 3-4 weeks (or sooner if the map gets explored completely before that time). As far as I'm aware, all items and currency are hard-coded into a player's profile, which is locally hosted as a save in My Documents -> My Games -> Terraria -> Players. This means that, no matter what the map is, your player retains things from every game is has played.

Someone tell me if I have this wrong but that's been what I've been experiencing. That means that a week from tomorrow, the map will be redone. Anyone object? Anyone want it re-gen'd sooner?

  2. There will be no lava-adminium jails for Mr. Gilliam.

If anything, he will be questioned and immediately found guilty, despite any evidence to the contrary because that is how my system works and he will then be thrown into a FLYING cube of adminium filled with lava and spider-riders and THAT will be his spawn.

Edit: Damnit, Gollgagh, you magnificent bastard. Never stop with those thread titles.

I just received, and approved, the final proofs for the physical distribution. They begin production tomorrow. I should have them in my hands around the middle of June, and I will begin promptly packing and organizing them for shipping.

Due to the restraints of the physical packaging, the art book is sandwiched between the discs, with no slit or sleeve available for storage. They are shrinkwrapped though, so everyone will get their insert. Just be careful with it after you open it ;)

If, for some reason, you get your physical copy before the release date, I would only ask that you not upload the files or spoil any of the surprises. :nicework:

  4. Has the server not been updated yet or something? I haven't been able to log in all day.

It was updated yesterday. No idea why its not letting people log in.

Very bizarre. I'm working on a permanent solution right now.

  5. Is the OCAD server down or am I having issues with connecting again?

Server is up, last I checked. I was running it last night and both myself and Val could connect no problem.

As for the map imaging, I have no problem doing it as soon as I get home today.

  6. Oh man. Oh dude. OH....OH...

    George-Takei-oh-my.jpg

I'm giving this some thorough listens because the tindeck mp3 applet was bugging at max volume, throwing some distortion in at loud volumes that doesn't seem to be in the actual file.

Your EQ changes are very appropriate. It almost makes it now sound like there are bowed strings playing at certain times, its a nice illusion.

Timing sounds really really good. Honestly, everything you cleaned up for this sounds friggin' awesome.

My final word: this is good to go. This is ready to submit. This is going on my ipod! Great stuff, Rexy. Thanks for being a total champ and seeing this mix through to the end.

  7. Th game crashes when I try to connect.

The server actually took some finagling to get to work. There are two common tips that seem to provide the most fixes:

    1) disable all network adapters except the one that you're connecting on (example: if you use wireless and still have an ethernet one that is unplugged, or if you have a virtual adapter for virtualbox/hamachi).

    2) rerun the two packages in the terraria game directory and repair them both. I believe they are xnafx40_redist.msi and dotNetFx40_Full_setup.exe

There IS a server password that you will need to get, either from me or from someone else who plays on it (garian, cyrilthewolf, vilecat, maxfrost, etc.). I will check the server during lunch when I go home as well, just to make sure nothing got botched. We had 5-6 people playing at the same time last night.

  8. Nothing to do with "Friday" but we SO EXCITED, 'CITED!

SO EXCITED. Exactly. Super-exactly. I hope you still have the video ready to make public after the project comes out. You know, the practice session? :nicework:

Oh, and you have to wait for that Super Dodge Ball crap.

Hey, hey, HEY! Its YOUR job to make sure SDB comes out before July 5th then. I be squattin' that date, and I ain't movin' for nuthin'!

  9. This is microsoft realizing they are losing the student customer base to Apple, cause they have something similar for buying a mac.

Yes, exactly. It is an incentive to further the userbase of Win7 while also pushing their console (when PS3 is currently at its weakest) as well as fighting Apple with their Student bundle. A console is seemingly as popular to have at college as an iPod, so it makes sense.

I still have my student ID, I wonder if I qualify despite having graduated 3 years ago...lol.

  10. http://windowsteamblog.com/windows/b/windowsexperience/archive/2011/05/19/students-we-ve-got-you-covered.aspx

"When students buy a Windows 7 PC over $699, they will receive a FREE Xbox 360*.

If you have a .edu email address you can purchase your new PC through one of our participating retailers including Dell.com, HP.com or Microsoft Store. If you don't have a .edu address or prefer to walk into a store, touch the PCs and test their features, bring your Student ID into Best Buy or any Microsoft Store retail location Check with your chosen retailer for additional specifics they may have in place."

There you go - if you've got a .edu email address, and are aching to get a new PC, looks like now might be the time to get a 360 on top of it. It starts on May 22nd, and goes until September 3rd or until supplies run out.

  11. So, apparently we got another thief on the OCAD server >:(

Someone stole a bunch of stuff from tjo_06's house and took a bunch of glowstone from my towers, as well as broke a bunch of glass up at the top.

I'll review the logs tomorrow and see who broke glass, should make it pretty easy to reverse the damage.
