I will give a lock of beard hair to anyone who comes to see us and asks me for it. This is in no way, shape or form a shameless ploy to get you to come see us :)

  2. Are you interested in channels for game reviews or only gameplay? I have some reviews and educational stuff.

Mostly looking for just gameplay. I guess I could divide it into sections in the OP. whats your info?

    ----

After completely ignoring this thread for a while I will finally update it! Seriously though, folks. It's a pain in the ass trying to go OUT there to find people's channels and schedules and whatnot. Don't be afraid to post here often with lots of updates or when you start streaming or whatever.

Edit: And now the OP is much more organized. I WANT TO SEE MORE STREAMING PEOPLE. Give me info. GIMMIE.

Edit edit: Tonight, Val is going to beat the final boss of Panzer Dragoon Saga on Sega Saturn, followed by starting up the Star Ocean series with the remade original entry on the PSP.

Starts at 9, her info is in the OP!

(Also, seriously people, I don't mind bumping this thread when y'all do shit)

  3. I, too, have nothing but praise for this album, my favorite track being halc's "Human Soldier".

However, I think I have found a bug with the last track, Vig's "The God Machine". There are a couple of sound skips at 0:20 and 0:23. They seem vaguely rhythmical, but there is no definitive rhythm established at that point, so I can't imagine they're intentional. The skips are present in the FLAC and MP3 versions in the Bittorrent download and in fact both files decode flawlessly, so I guess it's in the source file.

Can anyone verify? I've already redownloaded the whole package, but this persists.

I believe that is deliberate in his song. It's been in every version I've heard.

  4. Microsoft is, in fact, not doing as well as it should be. Global adoption of Windows 8 with its tepid reviews has caused enterprise adaptation of Windows 8 for businesses to be beyond glacial in speed. Microsoft makes the most amount of money right now with its corporate side, and if the latest iteration of Windows isn't doing hot, you can bet that Microsoft isn't having the easiest of times. It's not doing terribly, but I digress.

Most people would agree that, in a perfect world, the used game market wouldn't exist as it currently does. How it is now, and how it would be under Microsoft's Xbox One (from all the information we currently know) doesn't deal with the fundamental problem that used games introduces: a lack of secondary revenue for the developer/publisher.

Gamestop and Best Buy all make bank off of trades because whatever they sell a used game for, minus the cost they paid for the game from the customer and any kind of repair costs, is all net gain. Trading in a used game where the trader gets $10 in store credit, and $2 goes to resurfacing the disc, that same used game can be resold for $30-40 with 50-75% going right into the company's pocket. Some games currently fight this with an abundance of DLC, online passes, etc. It still doesn't make up for the loss of money the developer and publisher are deprived of.

From the current known facets of the XBO, the two most critical are the fact that there's a fee to pay to borrow or use a used game, and that indie developers are currently slated to be shafted without a publisher. Unless Microsoft announces that the money being charged for that reactivation fee at least in part goes to the developer and/or publisher, then they're doing nothing to fight the problem at its core.

To quote one of Microsoft's own sage wisdoms:

DEVELOPERS! DEVELOPERS! DEVELOPERS! DEVELOPERS! DEVELOPERS! DEVELOPERS! DEVELOPERS! DEVELOPERS! DEVELOPERS! DEVELOPERS!

The comments about the one billion consoles sold thing is at best optimistic if consoles are, from this generation onwards, considered an essential component of any media system, meaning it replaces cable boxes, DVRs, and DVD/Blu-ray players. Otherwise its just a stupid number.

  5. The Xbox One is going to be the best selling non-cablebox non-dvr television device with 8gb of ram ever next to the PS4 and possibly the steambox and also homemade computers.

Seriously, the entire reveal made me think they looked into the hearts of every gamer and took all people feared about the next generation of consoles and turned it into a product.

  6. No stream, just a comment: could folks also provide a brief description of their streams? Info like what genres are played, when and how often streams usually occur, and any specific format/niche (commentary/comedy, high score, speedrun, glitches/tricks, etc) would be convenient to have.

I mean, I'm interested in this, and I think this is a very neat thread idea, but having a little more to go on would greatly help in figuring out what I might want to check out and tune in for.

I'll add what i can, but if people can give their stream a description, that would definitely help.

  7. I've seen a lot of disparate threads about game streaming, so it would be nice to consolidate all that stuff in one place. A one stop shop for all people streaming who are residents of OCR.

Here is a list of streamers compiled from the thread:

  9. I know this was posted in the Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed thread, but the game itself is on sale on Steam for a few more hours for $15 - it's a steal! Glad Stevo pointed others and me to it - had a blast playing it some with zircon, Jill, and Arrowned a few weeks ago.

Steam also currently has an indie game sale going on until Mar. 29th: http://store.steampowered.com/sale/indie_spring2013 .

    BUYITNOWBUYITNOWBUYITNOWBUYITNOWBUYITNOWBUYITNOWBUYITNOWBUYITNOWBUYITNOWBUYITNOWBUYITNOWBUYITNOWBUYITNOWBUYITNOWBUYITNOWBUYITNOWBUYITNOWBUYITNOWBUYITNOWBUYITNOWBUYITNOWBUYITNOW

Did I mention its the best kart racing game since the original Super Mario Kart?

  10. I'll get a few wips together and pick something but is famous Sega Saturn Vaporware ok? Sonic Xtreme was the most anticipated Sonic game that got cancelled but alot of people seem to really like the music that was supposed to be in it.

Not answering on behalf of the director BUT considering that vaporware/unreleased games have already been featured on OCR (Such as Star Fox 2) from an eligibility perspective on the staff side, Sonic Xtreme should be fine. The music MUST be in the game's code, though. No music from trailers or previews would be allowed unless the game itself had the code in there for it.

Edit: Oh one other thing, and this KILLS me to say but any ReMix of Segata Sanshiro's theme would need to be discussed by staff as to whether or not we can have it on an album. I know point-blank it would not qualify to be a posted ReMix, so it would not be eligible for a mixflood due to the song originally being written and used in a TV commercial and not in a game. However, being on an album is questionable as the source materials valid for albums differ slightly from ReMixes. Some songs on the Super Dodge Ball album were ineligible for mixposting but still allowed on the album due to them being based on old regional folk songs.

I'll ask the staff and get back on that.

  11. This is my jam today:

    Beatdrop - Overflow

    Followed by:

Planes Mistaken for Stars - Hollow Point and Whiskey

PMFS is definitely not everyone's cup of tea, what with the severely indie aesthetics and recording techniques but I have yet to find a band that packed as much raw energy into songs as they did. 1:54 to the end pumps me so fucking hard.

Edit: Adding one more for a ridiculously intense end:

Secret Chiefs 3 - Horsemen of the Invisible

I have no comment except it is a must listen to for intense world-inspire music

  12. I challenge you to a Saturn whore-down Level!

HAH! You listed Iron Storm!!! Probably my favorite game on the Saturn. I had a remix medley for that planned but decided to abort it until my skillz got better. I realized not everyone wants to listen to a 14+ minute remix of my GARbage.

I'd like to add Wing Arms to that list but for the life of me I can't find the sources on youtube. I have the game so I might try to record them myself.

All in favor of Steveo directing this? yay.

    Challenge accepted.

I have a rip of it that I can upload sometime in the near future.

Also totally forgot Blazing Heroes. That had an absolutely stellar soundtrack.

And as much as I would like to help directing this, I think I did my piece with the NiGHTS album. Again, I wouldn't want to sign on to any projects that I wouldn't have the time to give my all on, since that would be worse than not participating at all. I WILL be watching this very closely and, of course, giving my staff aid.

May I also mention that I'm looking for a few full time secretaries so I can turn my life into an outsourced business model? :350:

  13. As one of OCR's most vocal resident Saturn-whores, I humbly endorse this product and/or service.

Here's a quicky list of all the Saturn games that have amazingly unique material, IMHO:

    Albert Odyssey

    Assault Suit Leynos 2

    Astal

    Batsugun

    Burning Rangers

    Christmas NiGHTS

    Clockwork Knight

    Clockwork Knight 2

    Daytona USA

Daytona USA Championship Circuit Edition (totally different soundtrack for the most part, AMAZING classic rock songs)

    Dragon Force

Enemy Zero (careful which songs from this one: some previously appeared on other works by the composer)

    Fighters Megamix

    Fighting Vipers

    Galactic Attack

    Guardian Heroes

    Gungriffon

    Gungriffon II

    The House of the Dead

    Iron Storm

    Kingdom Grand Prix

    Langrisser series

    Magic Knight Rayearth

    Metal Black

    Mr. Bones

    NiGHTS into Dreams... (duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh)

    Night Warriors: Darkstalker's Revenge

    Panzer Dragoon

    Panzer Dragoon II Zwei

    Panzer Dragoon Saga

    Radiant Silvergun

    Ronde

    Saturn Bomberman

    Sega Rally Championship

    Shinning Force III

    Shinning The Holy Ark

    Shinning Wisdom

    Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner

    Sonic 3D Blast

    Sonic R

    Virtua Cop

    Virtua Cop 2

    Virtua Fighter

    Virtua Fighter 2

    Virtual On

I'm sure there's more but yeah those, listen to those.

Edit: While I'd love to be able to help out firsthand with this project, considering my unrestrained infatuation with it, I am sadly overburdened right now. I can only offer what I offer to all other project directors: staff guidance and assistance to whomever gets this off the ground, if anyone.

Right now there's only one other album that's taken a focus specifically to a system, and that's the GB 25th anniversary album. The concept of doing a love-letter to a whole system is great, just don't make it too large. Keep it manageable in size since you can always do a second one if the first one is a success, however if you try to do too much it may fail and you'll end up with nothing, especially if its your first time trying to direct something (tl;dr: keep it two discs or less).
