  1. I like to make plans to colaborate, arrange some of the music, and when it comes time to actually colaborate with someone else, I like to have my own forklift run me over, putting the project on hold for months.
  2. New strings? Stretch them out by pulling on them really hard. Tune and repeat until it stays in tune. Also do the spring thing.
  3. Okay, I posted what I suppose is the finished version of my Obsession track. I hadn't recorded any of the guitars for the other two tracks, but I'll be able to in a few weeks.
  4. Sequencing Cubase SX3 (just upgraded from SX2) FL Studio 5 Hardware Presonus FireBox (Laptop) Creative Professional EMU1820M (PC) Lots of VST thingies including... Spectrasonics Trilogy Spectrasonics Atmosphere Spectrasonics Stylus RMX Native Instruments FM7 Native Instruments Pro53 Native Instruments B4 Korg Legacy Cell EastWest Drumkit From Hell Superior Garritan Personal Orchestra Broomstick Bass And occasionally I'll borrow the Waves Diamond bundle fom the studio.
  5. I use alot of different stuff for live/recording. This is my current equipment list. Guitars Fender American Standard Strat fitted with Vintage Noisless pickups (my first electric guitar) Fender American Deluxe Ash Strat Ibanez Prestige RG1620DX with DiMarzio Evolutions and a Piezo pickup Ibanez JEM (white) Ibanez Universe (7 string) Epiphone Les Paul Ultra fitted with Seymour Duncans (weighs about 4 lbs!) Gibson SG Standard PRS SE Custom fitted with Seymour Duncans Amps/Effects Mesa Triple Rectifier head (trading for a RoadKing head in a few days) Carvin Legacy head (selling to a friend) Marshall DSL50 head (selling to another friend) Line6 PODxt Johnson J-Station TC Electronics G System Marshall 4x12" cab with Celestion Greenbacks Marshall 4x12" cab with Celesttion V30s Mesa 4x12" cab with Celestion V30s Mesa 2x12" cab with Eminence speakers Selling other amps because the Road King head has 4 completely independant channels than can use different tubes and speaker cabinets. Microphones Shure SM57 (3) Sennheiser e609 Sennheiser MD427 Rhode NT1 For now I'd usually record guitar using the PODxt or the Simulanalog Guitar Suite VST software since I don't really have a decent micing room in this house. I am in the process of building a giant isolation box to house a 4x12 cabinet and some microphones. Hopefully I can have it done by the time I'm actually able to play guitar again.
  6. Registered at the forums but can't get into the project section.
  7. This is pretty much what I do. I pick out the chords while I'm listening and depending and then I'll try to figure out the melody or the main riff. Then I just play it over and over until I have it down perfect. Usually takes a good hour or so to learn just one song. (Dream Theater songs take like a week. )
  8. It can't? I make my own loops out of singles hits in RMX all the time. Maybe I just don't understand what you're saying or I'm just a super RMX haxxor.
  9. I bought myself a couple of late Christmas gifts. The SG and the Les Paul Ultra are the newest additions to my guitar collection, and the Triple Rectifier half stack replaces the Dual Rectifier half stack that I used to have. Just sucks that I still can't play any if it.
  10. I'll be sending a wav file of Summoned without Reason tomorrow. I did make a few changes in the mix and had rerecorded some of the guitars a while ago. Hope you like how it turned out.
  11. I was able to record the last guitar solo for Obsession, but it... well, it's not perfect. I'll send you a wav of the 'finished' song tomorrow.
  12. Remove me, please. I doubt I'll be able to make that deadline. I simply don't have enough free time and I have other personal projects that are my top priority at this moment. Sorry for the trouble.
  13. That solo sounds hideous to me now and I'm not sure why I recorded it that way. No substance, just pointless shredding. I need something a bit more melodic. My fingers are doing a little better, but I want to wait until I get my Mesa/Boogie Stilleto head before I record anything.
  14. I am redoing the song I picked. The ENTIRE song. From scratch. I'm so sick of it now. I'll have a wip shortly. I think. I hope.
  15. "Obsession" is the track I chose along with "Reincarnation." I also just bought a laptop so I'll have a WIP pretty soon.
  16. Que paso? I guess one of the tracks I'm doing is "Bad Medicine" then. Whatever was labeled as "Secret of Mana." My WIPs won't have any guitar for a while because I broke three fingers on my left hand. But they should heal in a couple of months. The only problem right now is time. I've been working in New Orleans and haven't had much time to do anything else, but I'll be getting a laptop pretty soon which will allow me to work on music anywhere I go.
  17. I'll be leaving out of town for a couple of weeks, so I won't be able to work on any music until I'm back home. But I did already start on my piece and will keep working on it until I leave.
  18. Project deadline?! Or just another WIP due date? I must know!
  19. I'll have another WIP this weekend, I promise! Don't kick me off the project yet.
  20. Suits me just fine. And I have about four or five months of free time. I'll do track 1/96, by the way.
