if you do find one of the older ones, consider getting it professionally cleaned. I think dust gives them problems. I have a backwards compatible PS3 that I bought second hand and it occasionally miscalculates vertices that go to infinity causing odd looking sticks that come out of geometry (on PS3 games only) but other than that it plays games perfectly
