  1. I gotta agree with Vig that this is way repetitive. The breakdown in the middle is nice, but the piano hitting so evenly all the time is really grating after awhile. Combined with the endlessly repeated pattern, it doesn't make for a super compelling listen. The sounds chosen were decent otherwise, but really what is making this miss the mark is the arrangement seems very drawn out. No
  2. Pretty solid expansion of the theme, with a lot of really nice textures and sounds, and a good flow. The production is solid and expansive, with clear tones, and some nice melodic ideas added. Progression is slow but steady, and though there are a lot of similarities between this and the source, there is sufficient arrangement and expansion for me to be cool passing this. Yes
  3. Nice high energy take on the source, though, that lead guitar processing is like, eh, not so hot. Weird slapback delay, strange reverb, and a distortion sound that isn't really getting the job done. The bass is also really difficult to hear. The rhythm guitars and the orchestral elements, as well as the drums and bells are sounding really nice, but the lead tone is really ruining the parts where it comes in. Redo that lead tone and we're good. Until then, No, please resubmit
  4. I never thought i'd see this day! Sounds are pretty solid, and even though it's not chip sounds, it's sounding pretty solid, with a lot of good percussive texture and a good arrangement flow. Really nice ending, this is how you do a fadeout, people, as it feels like part of the actual song. Instrumentation is pretty similar to the source, but feels a lot more organic and also has a clap added, which is something that most songs should have, this one included. I like the bass writing, and overall the vibe gives me a sortof Darkesword feel, which means you are probably doing something right. Very cool that you are stepping out of your comfort zone and doing a good job. I like it. Yes
  5. eep, not feeling that snare at all right away; and actually all of the drums are sounding a bit lo-fi for this. The guitar sound was also pretty low-fi, but the riffing was solid. The arrangement was pretty conservative for the most part, though there were some flashes of interpretation, but the second half was just a retread of the first and wore a little thin. I'd suggest taking this to the WIP forum and getting a little extra help in touching up the guitar tone, and the drum production, as well as making the arrangement more personalized. No
  6. Wow, it's Zid; i've been a fan of your artwork for a long time! Very cool you are subbing to OCR! Playing was pretty solid, with a lot of nice additional flourishes and some good tapping passages. The tone wasn't amazing, but but had a decent low-fi indie vibe. Drums were pretty good sounding, and the bass and rhythm tracks were decent as well. Some of the mixing was a little crowded in some spots, and i think a little eq and additional panning would gel things together a little better. Transitions between sections were pretty good, though it was clearly a medley. Arrangement was on the conservative side at first,it ramps into a lot more interpretation. Not sure what is up with that abrupt ending though, it's like the song isn't finished and the file gets cut off. I really enjoyed this, but the crowded production issues and ending cutoff put this just south of the bar. No, please resubmit
  7. i'm not sure what kind of lady you are, Deia, but most women I know don't have 2 penises. They actually tend to have no penis. Just sayin

Contact me for more info on this.) http://aminet.net/mods/misc/HIPC.Astaroth.lha Comments: This song comes from way back in 1989, from composer of Atari-ST fame Jochen Hippel. It was quite possibly one of the most borrowed tunes on the Amiga, it was borrowed for several other games/demos, including Headquarters (an add-on for Mechforce). I decided to name it "Star League" because its futuristic sound reminds me of the Battletech universe. The remix was written using SkaleTracker, a music module tracker editor in the same vein as FastTracker 2. source:

  10. Remixers: HoboKa and Audio Fidelity Game: Donkey Kong Country 3 (project remix) Track Remixed: Boss Boogie Remix name: Can't Boss us Around Description: Well, I've always been a fan of the boss music for DKC3, so when I saw it vacant on the project list, I just had to remix it =p. I think I did a fairly decent job over-all, but I realized that my production skills still aren't up to par...yeah I'm a slow learner. So that's where Audio Fidelity came in . He helped master the remix and edited some of the tracks to make them more bad-ass. The direction I took for "Can't Boss Us Around" is a more gritty, electronic/DnB take, with my sexy atmospheric touch . Yeah, so I hope you guys enjoy it as much as we do http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECHxV2GFf18
  11. Here is a song that I have been holding on to for a while. I could not send it in, because email was not working on my computer. But now that it is working, I have the chance to give it to you. This song is a mix between "koopa's theme" and "koopa's road". They are split half and half in the song, and are easy to recognize when they shift. Since it took a while to send this, I have some other tunes under my belt. I still really like this one though, and after all, I'm only thirteen!!! Anyway, the tune is called Turtle of Terror. Enjoy! -- Hizzle House -sources

Link to the original soundtrack: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ji8OG3KwoHA Own comments: I decided to remix a tune from Jet Force Gemini because the game is very close at heart for me, and the music is very nostalgic. Plus there is no remix of this game on this site so far, so I was especially motivated to change that. My first idea what to do something fingerstyle guitar, since that's my probably my strongest musical suit, but I also experimented quite a bit with this some other stuff in song. There is a lot of improvisation going on in this song. As a result the style is pretty mixed and very personalized. I hope you'll find it enjoyable --- Regards, Emil Bohman

It's one of my favorite video game songs. The mix starts with a piano riff taken from Lost Odyssey - Parting Forever. Since the source is very short, I merged it one of my own songs I wrote some 10 years ago. Hope you'll like it.
  14. Remixer Name: Josh Whelchel Email: josh@jwmusic.org Websie: http://www.jwmusic.org Forum ID: 5487 Remix Title: "Return to Kong, Bye Bye Baddies!" Game Name: Donkey Kong Country 3 Composer: David Wise Song(s): Baddies on Parade (Mainly), Crazy Calypso, Pokey Pipes Source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMusIC9EskQ Part of the DKC3 project, please do not post until the project completes, if it's accepted. -- I really wanted to do something with this track that expanded on the limited source in such a way to tell a compelling story. If you can sort of imagine a nostalgic view back on the adventures that were had through a monochromatic photo album (well hey, sort of like in the credits!). To achieve this, I pretty much tease that at the melody without ever hitting it outright until 1:27. After that, I take the same melodic exterior to create some fun solos that build up into a faster section that begins with the super-fun bassline of Baddies on Parade. Slowly I start to tease at theme of the game (Crazy Calypso) at 2:27, where I start using just the chord progression of that theme before hitting it at full speed at 2:45. After grooving we mix it up into a little cameo of Pokey Pipes at 3:19 that serves as a middle 8 before we hit the solo-riffs and outro break at 3:45 that are structured around the main melody, which reappears at 4:15, and in full at 4:19. To sum it up, this is sort like what trying to remember all of those fun moments you had with Dixie were like in little pieces, sometimes the melody comes to you right away, sometimes it's just familiar enough. Technical jumbo: Most of this mix hangs on the melodic riff at :12 in the original (Baddies on Parade) with that high note, enough so that the source is familiar but the melody, which in the original is like earcandy on repeat, is not reproduced verbatim until I want it to be. It took nearly 2 years but i finally got everything down pact without you guys i dunno what the hell would've happened. This track was influenced by bLiNd's Jade Catacombs & iio- Rapture (Armin Van Buuren's Remix) I took what I like from those tracks and combined it with my own style I didnt really expect for it to come out sounding very uplifting but im happy that I was able to pull something like this off. Before my mix Pretension was ever posted I use to doubt my abilities as a Trance Producer and I was very intimidated by OCR's standards but now I know everything will be fine from this day forward. Expect to hear more from me! Source: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I5TanI96EdE
  17. Contact Info Remixer Name: ChaoticBrain Real Name: Mitchell Bandes E-Mail: mitchbandes@gmail.com Submission Info Game: The Incredible Machine (1) Song: "Euro" Additional Info: The game was released for PC in 1992, and the soundtrack was composed by Tim Clarke and Christopher Stevens. Original Music: Honestly, I think the original music sucks, so I decided to add my own personal touches to it. It ended up turning from a simple recomposition to something semi-Trance-like, far superior to the old MIDI crap with little to no variation in tune. Out of curiosity, I decided to check out other Incredible Machine remixes, and I was quite surprised to find that none existed! So I decided to submit it to OCRemix. Admittedly, my setup isn't as expensive as most people's; my FLStudio setup probably comes out to around $200. Still, I think I managed to make a gem. I hope you like it.

Comments: This is my first attempt at a serious ReMix, having only just started to make electronic music recently. I stumbled upon the source tune after trawling through an old folder on my computer one night whilst looking for inspiration. This track immediately jumped out at me as having massive potential for a high-energy style mix, and so that's the feeling I've tried to convey. I chose the Amiga as the system to remix because it was my first "gaming" system, and after our 500 packed up we upgraded to a 1200, which came with 2 games - Dennis being one of them - in a pack called "Desktop Dynamite", hence the name. I could never get very far with the game, so I was always playing level 1 over and over, and listening to this music must have made an impression! Thanks to everyone who commented in the WiP thread, especially phantasia and Rozovian, for excellent constructive help. Hope you enjoy DarkSim
  19. Game: Tecmo Bowl Tracks arranged: the main field theme Remix Title: Touchdown Hoedown The original track was just asking to be arranged in a bluegrass/hoedown style so that's what I did here. Not too much to say. It incorporates a banjo, acoustic and electric guitars, a mandolin, and violins played fiddle style. It was difficult to get the production levels up to snuff on this one - mainly the EQ. I messed with it for quite some time, got frustrated with it and finally settled with this version. Hopefully, the arrangement makes up for it.

They are titled as above. Additional Information - The game is for PS2, with "Roxas" and "The Other Promise" being composed by Yoko Shimoura, and "Dearly Beloved" being written by Kaoru Wada Hey guys, I've been a huge fan of OC remix for a long time, and I'm really excited to be a part of the force which has brought me countless hours of inspiration. OC is actually what made me fall in love with the electric sounds of techno and trance, and since then I've gone from being a neoclassical composer to picking up my synthesizer and starting a career as an electronica artist, which brings me to the inspiration for this mix. I have always really wanted to do a kindom hearts remix, though I could never pick a song (there were too many I loved) and I was always really busy with trying to start my music career. I decided to do this mix and give it out for free to promote myself as a musician (and because, hey, kindom hearts music kicks some serious ass) so I sat down and knocked this mix out in a solid 12 hours or so. Not really much to say about the mix, I just arranged how I felt necessary. I stripped the songs down to their most basic elements of melody and chord progression, and then built them back in the way that I saw fit. (though I’m sure that’s pretty common) I opened with solo piano playing the exact notes that start the roxas song, and it’s nothing special until I begin to fade in a PWM synth of “the other promise’s” piano part. From there the mix builds as one would expect techno to. The melody first enters at 1:08, but doesn’t bloom until about 1:21 or so when I fade in the acid and saw synth’s. at 2:02 the song becomes suddenly tranceish with an overly reverbed piano playing the breakaway from “roxas” which I use to transition into the dearly beloved theme. At 2:58 I do the same thing I did with the roxas remix, dropping the bass and percussion in typical techno fashion, then filtering the bass in while the countermelody appears back overhead. Part of me feels like I went back into roxas’s theme without enough transition (or without transition at all), though after listening to it for a few times, I was pretty happy with the way it sounded and left it. The song ends after playing a variation of the same tranceish section from 2:02 and leaving nothing but the hollow sounding piano with which it began. I wanted to almost make it seem as if those opening notes contained a whole world, full of emotion and wonder, and as the mix ended, the metaphorical story of roxas closes, revealing only the plain cover. All in all, I’m pretty pleased with this mix, and I hope you guys like my spin on an old favorite. sources http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yna9FIlV03Y
  21. DJ-AKX Juan Rosario http://www.facebook.com/AGuy2Remember#!/AGuy2Remember Outrun 'Passing Breeze (Latin Jazz Samba 2010 Edition)' This Version Chords Are Based From The Sega Master System Instead Of The Original Which Begins on A Chord This One Is On E Chord (by the way i don't read music i did it by ear) Comments : Hi Guys @ Overclocked Remix I Finally! Fiiinaaalllyyy!! Got The Opportunity To Make My First Arrange Video Game Music For OC Had this concept in my mind for years since 1999, few years ago got my own recording studio and by the year 2006 i found about the OC Page and couldn't believe that a page focusing on arranging video game music really existed, not to mention that I'm a member since 2007 I've been waiting patiently for the time to make and arrangement of a song and it's so hard when you have lots of duties like supporting your family, etc . . . . got my drift? Well on this arrangement took me a month to make the 60+ tracks and i decided to make it Latin Jazz Version since i played the game on arcade and on the Sega master system it inspired me to one day make the arrangement of the song and this is the day,the intro i did some samples from BBC Sound Effects Library,Brazilian Singing from Bom Dia Brazil and the small tune from Passing Breeze Sega Master Version also i added a treat for all fans who knows Shinobi Arcade. I used the Trilian Bass Modile VST Making a solo melody on Stage 4 the time is 5:01 and following with the Stage Complete on time 5:21 I customize the drums using Superior Drummer, used some sounds from my Roland Fantom-S,XP-80 the XV-5080 Module. Just crossing my fingers for the song to be accepted Sincerely Juan Rosario (DJ-AKX) source: LT Edit: The specific version this is based off of (Sega Master System): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ffppQY6EviE Arcade version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yN29mw-ZNAE
  22. Pretty classy interpretation, though it's a heavy balanced to the right, which makes headphone listening awkward. The orchestral elements were a bit mechanical, but once the guitars came in, it all blended really nicely, and the live hand percussion was a nice touch. Pretty nice work, dude, I like it. Yes
  23. This is a mix that has a few strong points, but is overall being dragged down by the details. The guitar playing is pretty good, as is the piano playing, but I never feel like the track as a whole is gelling. Transitions are a little sloppy as well, and once the track gets busier, the mixing isn't balanced, with stuff stepping all over each other. The drum sound is also really way weaker than it should be. THey need to crackle with the energy of an angry Norse God, not sound wimpy. You are a talented instrumentalist, but your recording needs to be stepped up a little to make it onto OCR. I suggest bringing this track to the WIP forum and getting some additional tips. No, please resubmit
  24. yar, that is some mechanical piano to start things out, but I realize it's part of the style of the remix genre. Still stands out to me, but it is what it is. The arrangement is pretty effective, and the production seems pretty solid, but beyond the genre adaption, and the keychange, there really isn't a ton of expansion to this. Near there end, there seems to be a bit, which is cool, but overall things are played pretty straight. It's a fun track, and though the is very borderline on arrangement, there is interpretation and it's pretty solidly handled. No idea how this vote will end up, but i'm cool with the track passing. Yes
  25. The random talking under the track or whatever the sound is tends to be annoying and doesn't add anything to the arrangement, IMO (ps, Deia is straight up wrong), but thankfully it stops eventually. Only to come back later. :/ Arrangement is pretty straightforward, and the sounds used are actually pretty similar tonally to the sources which ties it in further. The ending seemed pretty halfassed too. There are some shining parts, like how the mixed meter section transitions, and some cool chip sfx scattered around, but I dunno, really. It totally feels to me like this one was phoned in. I don't hate it, but I don't think it stands up to previous work at all. This is borderline for me, but i'm gonna have to go No, please resubmit
