  1. It's been slow but I'm still working on it... The pads sound better, so that's good. I still think it could use a bit of percussion like a brushed snare or something, but if it detracts then don't bother. I don't mind the reverse kick, it sounds bit like a scratch though and I think that kind of sound is out of place here. It's your call, it doesn't screw things up or anything. What is that instrument you're using at 1:32? It sounds like a really thin xylophone. I would get a more realistic one there, if a xylophone is what you're going for. I personally think it ruins the ambience a bit and wouldn't have it come in until the part at 1:56. Also, maybe a bit of a crescendo to 1:56 would make it a little less sudden and disjointed. Maybe have some of the pads in that section come in earlier or something.
  2. I like the way you used the source here, and the arrangement is well done too (though the weakness of the samples comes through a few times, e.g. 1:58-2:05). I guess the one problem I have is that dynamic range. Specifically, the climax around 4:20 seems like it could enter a lot stronger (those piano chords). Also, I think you could work with the panning a bit to give each part more space. It seems crowded the way it is right now.
  3. Haven't heard this in awhile... The piano from 0:20-1:25 sounds way to random, like it is playing bits and pieces of a melody but at random intervals. It feels very start-stop if that makes any sense. Also the piano sample sounds kinda detuned and crappy. There's this instrument you're using that plays chords in the background, I can't tell what it is, but it sounds pretty weak. Also the chords it plays sound pretty random. I think the pads you use here are too dead sounding, and they don't really establish the atmosphere I think you're going for. I don't know if you've ever heard Moonloop by Porcupine Tree, but this track has a sort of similar vibe to it in that it is sort of ambient but with more of a groove. I think you need to establish the groove more. ie. instead of the soft hi-hats you use in the beginning, maybe put in some congas or other light percussion? Listen to Moonloop by Porcupine Tree or something and you'll see what I mean.
  4. personally i liked the Midna one better but they're both worth doing i think
  5. I thought the bass was a little loud and maybe the guitar could be brought to the forefront a bit more, as right now it sounds kinda weak. And I agree with what DrumUltima said about the treble in the drums being too much.
  6. yeah this is nice did you ever finish that other ambient song you did
  7. the link to the forums anywhere on the OCR wiki goes to the phpbb forum, just thought i'd mention ok so I was too vague I meant the info section (http://www.ocremix.org/info) which is also called the OCR wiki which is what I was talking about. The link to the forum on the sidebar there goes to the phpbb forum and not the new ones. I can't edit the sidebar. and i know it isn't important i just thought i'd mention it. ok
  8. everybody sees themselves first on the list for whatever reason
  9. I'm pretty sure this is what you're looking for (it's a link)
  10. this is really cool it's just i think the melody is too far from the original. oh and 1:22-1:35 might be a good time for a key change i think?
  11. the melody sounds ok but the first note sounds a bit off. i was listening through bad speakers though so i'm not 100% on that. also it doesn't seem to flow as well as the old melody did, it's a little too syncopated i think. but it fits well. maybe when the key changes though you could switch it up a bit.
  12. shnabubula's piano stuff is always amazing, easy download
  13. this is pretty kickass, looking forward to the full version
  14. uhh the clip is fine but the change from such a low quality clip to the e-piano thing is too immediate i think, so i was just suggesting that you use a different sound instead of the e-piano you're using.
  15. the intro doesn't really work for me, i think the synth you're using is a beat too bright and sytrus-y sounding. maybe try something a bit mellower? also because the sample is so lo-fi i was expecting almost expecting a madlib beat. and i would maybe make the main melody relate more to the source because right now i can only really hear it in the key. the scratching and the drums are blended really well now though, good stuff.
  16. ok i've listened to it twice...it's a pretty good EP, happy electronica type thing. the only real problem i have is that some songs (mostly Electrosonic Therapy) rely to heavily on FL sounds and just sound like they could've used better quality synths...but it's not a huge deal you used it pretty creatively.
  17. this isn't ambient argh i hate people misusing that word and as for people saying that this lacks energy i completely disagree with that but i enjoy minimalist music so i guess i have a pretty high bar when it comes to "boring" music this update is pretty awesome the drums are sooo nice i wish i had the patience to do drums like this. keep it up.
  18. this is pretty cool except the scratching doesn't feel as cohesive as i think it could, and it stands out a bit too much... i can't figure out what this is...i'm guessing mallow's sad song just because that's what the key sounds like?
  19. this is very cool, sort of boards of canada-y. the only thing i had a problem with was the claps around the idm part. but other than that, good job
