  1. i don't get the criticisms that there is not enough rearrangement here. this is very well done.
  2. too bad it was harmonically thin i am keeping it anyways
  3. ugh. ambient is a blanket description that is thrown around all too often especially around here. seems like you have confused "ambient" with "minimalist orchestral" which i'd say is probably the sound you are going for. i think the atmosphere you are going for is similar to l'après-midi d'un faune by debussy and that's the kind of arrangement i'd work towards if it was me. not a bad start.
  4. i like it just like that other marimba one you did what happened to that anyways
  5. this is a nice simple piece, simple in that it is driven mostly by melody. the problem i have with it is the use of rubato and hesitation. it's unnecessary and it puts too much focus on the left hand. nice work though.
  6. it is thin and bad especially with that heavily reverbed snare
  7. aaaaaaaaaaa this is really good i like the changes from the last version i heard this reminds me so much of 'midnight in a perfect world' the melody entrance at 3:22 seemed kinda weird at first because it sounds like it should be chromatic but it jumps down i probably said this every time you posted this but i can't recognize the source in the first half of the melody i like the samples and white noise things you added to the middle section, and what you did with the ending i hope you have a better title than turntablism though
  8. grindcore wooo that is pretty sick rainbow road won't download properly ):
  9. this is really nice only the snare got too much reverb, not enough presence
  10. haha sounds like speedcore irish dancing what is this a remix of?
  11. yeah pretty much key changes like that generally come in strong so it was just kind of jarring but whatever you think works.
  12. the arrangement was going well until oh no what happened at 0:52. i don't think everything should cut out like that but it's your choice everything sounds a little treble heavy could use some deeper sounds in the guitar and the opening synths (which are kinda generic btw).
  13. yeah that's what i thought i don't know if you actually play marimba but there is a lot you can do with the instrument that is not really represented here
  14. my only complaint is that the remix is dead that is to say it no longer exists
  15. I think the arrangement is good the way it is, but some of the sounds could use work. I think for the most part the drums are sounding pretty good, it's just the snare that could be "pumped up" more. The bass sample the biggest problem here I think. It's not dynamic enough to be in the forefront so much, if you could get a real bass on that or at least turn it down it would sound a lot better I think. And I think the last guitar chord could ring a bit so the crash doesn't just hang there, or maybe do a crash with a handmute.
  16. These pads sound a lot nicer, so much more life in them now. I personally think it might sound better if there weren't gaps in between each chord which would help with the atmosphere of it. The part starting at 0:18...the piano is very freeform and I think if you're going to have percussion in there it would help if there was a bit more direction to it. Not so far as putting a backbeat in or something, but maybe some little fills on toms and stuff, and not just the hi-hat, because right now it feels really random and out of sync with the piano. I'm thinking jazz kind of drums, the best example that comes to mind is the beginning of Ganon's Temple by Neskvartetten (on OCR). That's just a suggestion though, what you have is fine if it works for you. At 2:26 there is a mallet instrument that sounds too loud, I'd turn it down. You might get some criticism for most of the middle section being to crowded, it doesn't bother me personally but it might be something to watch out for.
  17. no, it's 13/8. really it's more helpful to think of it as 7/8 and 6/8 but yeah
  18. i still think the piano at 4:20 could enter a lot stronger, but this works.
