  1. From what I hear, it's like 15-20 (longer if you do all the sidequest stuff), but I'll be seeing in the next week or two first hand the length of the game. I'm sure there'll be people on here that'll beating well before me, and I think it was Kak that already played through the Japanese version so he'd be the man to answer this question properly. EDIT: Maybe I just need to play with it more, but I haven't had much luck with that thus far. Maybe I'm not holding it for long enough before I begin trying to draw small circles or something.
  2. So I managed to get in about 30-45 min last night on Phantom Hourglass, and is it just me or are the controls really unresponsive when it comes to rolling? Anyone have any tips they find help when trying to perform a roll? That's pretty much the only negative thing I have to say about the game thus far, and I can't wait to get more time in on the game this weekend.
  3. I've got nothing this time around, since I've never played these games. I'd want to give a vote for Advance Wars, but seeing as how I only played the DS game that'd kinda defeat the purpose.
  4. So despite having too many games to play as it is, I'm becoming more and more tempted to get this game (also, considering if they bring in a lot of money via their "import genre," Nintendo will be more likely to localize more games that never saw the light of day here...here's hoping for Radical Dreamers and maybe some previous installments of Nintendo Wars and Fire Emblem). Anyway, just curious how you all would rate this game (since if it goes highly recommended, I may just have to put my other VC games on hold for the time being in favor of this). (EDIT: like on a scale of 1 to 10, where would you place it and why?) I'm also finding the debates about the increased cost of the import genre pretty funny, like they really need to justify a $2 increase .
  5. Megaman X4 Up through X6, I played and beat every Megaman game (aside from Megaman Legends and any of the Battle Network games with the exception of Network Transmission). X4 was the first Playstation MMX game, and in my opinion it was the only one that did the series justice. It was a game I bought immediately for the system when I got it, along with Megaman 8 and some Street Fighter II Collection, and the presentation and style blew me away. It was crisp and dynamic, elevated from the SNES incarnations, but it was really having the choice of playing as Zero or X that hooked me. Playing as Zero was always my personal favorite, since he got up close and personal with the saber and the abilities he acquired from defeating bosses manifested themselves in the form of Street Fighter-esque moves instead of seperate ammo-based weapons. Great times were had, beating this game over and over, unlocking everything, and trying to beat my last playthrough's time. Highly recommended. YES
  6. Sorry, I'm of no help here. Didn't even hear about the deal till you mentioned it. So very excited to play Phantom Hourglass tomorrow (unless for some strange reason the EB Games I ordered it at breaks street date), but I just realized that tomorrow Chibi Robo for DS ships. I never played the Gamecube one (though I've been pretty interested in trying it out), and seeing the DS version tempts me. Dammit, too many games, not enough time.
  7. Nice, both games look pretty purchase-worthy. Think I'm gonna wait a bit though, given that I too many games I'm still trying to get through as it is. That, and I'm trying to hold off on downloading any more N64 games till Nintendo gives us further means of storage for the Wii.
  8. I'm assuming the pad connects through the Gamecube controller port...is that right? As for other games Megadave mentioned...Dragon Blade looked kinda interesting, but I'm really gonna need to see some reviews before I consider buying it. Then, Dewey's Adventure was a game I was excited for when it was first announced, but given that reviews are pretty sour for it I'm reconsidering. I may wait to try it out first, but it seems like while the concept was cool the execution was lacking.
  9. Speaking of CD Baby, I really enjoyed their flavor when doing the Zircon/SGX "triple threat" deal you guys had, so I know I'll be doing business when them again shortly (decently quick shipping from them too, since Portland isn't too far away either).
  10. Point taken, but I doubt there's much to do with innovation (since it doesn't seem like there's really been a shake-up in the digital media download market after iTunes' establishment, let alone an attempt), rather companies just want their piece of the pie. Easier to copy an effective business model than make an original one.
  11. N64 Starfox 64 Smash Bros. Mario 64 Paper Mario Ocarina of Time (Would have put Perfect Dark on here if it didn't have those intense slowdown issues) Playstation Megaman X4 GBA Megaman Zero Metroid Zero Mission Metroid Fusion Fire Emblem I know there are more, but that'll do for the moment.
  12. Probably the same reason someone might use Amazon specifically for any kind of purchase: they're used to it, they like it, or it's "the only online" for them. Personally, I tend to purchase physical items from Amazon instead of other online stores because they're Seattle-based and with the cheapest shipping I get it fast fast fast.
  13. I wouldn't complain too loudly about one venue giving an artist less money than another venue, personally. Everyone has different habits when it comes to purchasing things, whether it be online, in-person, or what have you. Some people may not care where they buy the product (sometimes being prompted to buy at a specific place because it has the best deal for them), and others prefer only one or a few stores and if you're product isn't sold there then all parties are outta luck. For every person it's a different scenario, but if you diversify where your product is being sold, you will bring in more money even if some vendors give you a lesser percentage because you'll be hitting that many more potential customers. Pretty common sense (like many business-related things), which is why you already sell Antigravity (and I assume your other cds) through multiple vendors right? To further clarify my main point, I understand that it's desireable to get at least 50% profit (for retail outlets at least [since my hands-on experience was in small retail operation], but that's because of covering overhead etc, so I dunno what the usual targets are for someone in your position), but if the product is sold at 20% instead but that many more units are being bought then in the end it's all good. Plus, the more places carrying your product, the more people are going to not only notice it, but consider purchasing it. (Btw, for the most part really enjoyed Antigravity, and I've since recommended it to several who were at least marginally familiar with your stuff on here) Anyway, back on topic, I agree with Airwalker. I hope that with Amazon's download service being DRM-free will mark a turnaround, and maybe some of these places which aren't getting the sales they'd have liked will revert to DRM-free. I see why places use(d) DRM, but I think it is unjustified. I'd rather do business with an entity that trusts, instead of devaluing, the customer and would be more inclined to have future transactions with them (just like with any business that pleases me). About downloading commercial stuff, I downloaded a ton back when Napster was still good/free, but it also marked a point in my life where I purchased the most music. I bought a legit copy of basically everything I downloaded, but since that golden time I don't as freely discover new stuff that I care to buy. Anyway, like someone before said, I also think it's one thing to download music to find out new stuff, or even try before you buy, but to download just to be cheap and not support the artists you like doesn't help anyone.
  14. Yeah, that was the only really disappointing thing for me with Twilight Princess: boss battles were too easy. They were for the most part rather "cinematic" and fun boss fights (like the boss to that water temple), though, so I guess better that than really challenging but boring. Even if the bosses are too easy to beat in Phantom Hourglass, I think it'll still be well worth the price of admission. EDIT: With 9 reviews in at this point, Phantom Hourglass has a Meta Score of 91. Not bad at all.
  15. Wow, just realized it's one week till Zelda: Phantom Hourglass comes out. I am getting pretty excited for that, now that it's just about out...may need to go reserve that in the next day or 2. Outta curiosity, who else is planning to get it?
  16. So apparently Samba De Amigo is headed to Wii. I think it was Atma who mentioned this game as being a perfect fit for the Wii before. EDIT: I, too, am also very much looking forward to King Story. And No More Heroes.
  17. lol, ahh burning compilation cds. Did that a ton back when I first started downloading video game music/remixes. Fix'd. Read those back when you first posted...good stuff, very enjoyable.
  18. Pretty similar to me, actually. Had to have been '00 or '01 when I started checking P2P for video game music, or whenever Napster was still intact (2000-ish right?), and at first I didn't care if it was the original in MP3 format or some sort of remix or rearrangement. It was mainly for Mega Man tracks that I searched for (to a somewhat lesser extent, Metroid and a couple of others) and it was out of sheer nostalgia. I also heard Metroid and Dragon Ball Z-related tracks from Super Pope on mp3.com back when it was a good place to find stuff that was different, and that really got me more interested in rearrangements. After a while of checking Napster when it was still free/good and later Kazaa along with few other P2P clients, I got around to checking the old OCRemix site. I basically went on a mad downloading spree for any game I had played, and ended up not returning for quite a while. When I came back, I remember what song came out that marked when I started going to the site regularly, and that was Darkesword's remix from Gundam Wing Endless Duel, "LetMeLiftThisLoad." Thanks to this site I decided to check out a good number of games, like FF7, Ocarina of Time, and Chrono Trigger. So in summary, been avidly checking the site and listening since '02, but only relatively recently decided to join (a big reason being my ever-increasing interest in video game rearrangement). Mainly Mega Man brought me here originally, but now I listen to everything and it has opened me up to play games I've never gotten around to before.
  19. Anyway, when do you decided which mix wins out? EDIT: Nevermind http://www.ocremix.org/forums/showthread.php?t=12005
  20. I've studied film too, and totally disagree with the argument you're making. First, as Chrono26 said, it's not technically a remake. 300 is based off a graphic novel by Frank Miller; it truly is his vision brought to life, in case you've ever seen the source material. While the inspriation was the same for both 300 Spartans and Frank Miller's graphic novel, it serves as merely coincidence. The cinematography was excellent in all respects, especially how they actually made the fight scenes DYNAMIC (and it wasn't just the editing; look at camera placement). All too often nowadays directors will, in lieu of really thinking about camera angle and general mise-en-scene, employ the "shakey-cam," use improper zoom (usually too close), and leave it at that (see Transformers and, to a lesser extent, Bourne Ultimatum). Something else 300 does exceptionally well is convey a sense of emotion. Other movies that would have been great but failed in this regard because it doesn't bring the audience in. 300 has a unique visual style that, personally, I really enjoyed. I wouldn't try to fault it because it was "realistic enough," as that clearly wasn't the attempt. The greatest fault I see with it is the story is rather lacking, but given all of the aspects they did well in overshadows this I feel. Anyway, it's totally fine for you to say you didn't like it, but to say it was bad for the reasons you gave was silly IMO.
  21. Hmm, I'm interest to hear what that game is like.
  22. I'd vote for Kingdom Hearts 2, though I'm still hoping you'll do some sort of Metroid-related ReMix one of these days .
  23. lol. I work as well, and beat it I think in 7 days exactly (had to replace my usual workout times to play the game ). I can understand still using spoiler tags for a bit longer though.
