  1. e-mail with attached tracks sent, you should be receiving it soon.
  2. It's actually stolen from the main theme of the movie: 'The Ecstasy of Gold', but in Japan, who's gonna tell?? I guess they (the dev team) smartened up for Wild Arms 2 and made a more-or-less original over world theme.
  3. Yeah, figured we needed something a bit less overdone, albeit this is prob the 1 track of wild arms that has been covered several times...there is an "elw" theme (from Wild Arms) that doesn't have a MIDI for that I rly wanted to use, but this 1 is the best contender and not overly difficult to work with, since it loops after about :52 or so.
  4. esperado wanted me to pick in his stead as he couldn't think of anything and didn't wish to hold up the compo any longer. I've decided to make the compo 2 weeks longer than normal due to it being the Christmas season
  5. Compo: MnP (Meat 'n Potatoes) Round six: Wild Arms: Overworld Theme Midi Starts: 18/12/2013 Ends: Thursday 1/2/2014 @ 2PM Vote Stage: 2nd to 4th @ 9PM Submit your remix Here when completed. MISSION STATEMENT The goal of Compo:MnP is to promote that "meat and potatoes" conservative approach to remixing: this includes the mood and composition of source tunes. It is up to the remixer to create their own personalization, or to simply give it a sound upgrade. Moreover, the compo is a great opportunity to hone your remixing skills and give video game music the respect that is due. A modicum of originality is recommended, but not required. All competitors and voters must adhere to the rules stated within: Competition Code and Conduct * MnP Instructions 1. Slight alterations of the source are encouraged, but not required. 2. Covers and Sound Upgrades are permitted. 3. Stay relatively close to the source's mood and notation. Refer to the example tracks for reference. 4. Any genre is acceptable, so long as you can still capture the source tune's mood and a good chunk of the notation. 5. Submissions must be at a maximum of 20mb (keeping in step with ThaSauce's file size max). **I will state the voting rules at the voting stage, so as to keep the rule list here as small as possible. I'll also relax the rules on qualative statements about your own works, because frankly, it seems impossible to prevent it from happening anyways, but I would humbly suggest that you try to exercize some discretion about said comments on yours or other people's tracks.** Example Tracks: FF7_SonOfChaos, SMW_Monstrous_Turtles, Hitman_Contract_Cleaner, MISC/TIPS - When picking a source tune, make sure it has a MIDI to make ppl's lives easier. - In-game sound FX are permitted, so long as they don't comprise the whole track (i.e. replacing entire MIDI tracks with just sfx) - Certain sad or moody source tunes don't have drums or percussion for a reason. So keeping it that way may be the easiest way to retain much of the original feel, such as and
  6. Looking forward to the final product...I think I'm going to make an MP3 dongle solely for OC Christmas music to listen 2 whilst driving
  7. Ok, sounds good. Glad to see you participating in mnp :D

  8. Results Esperado got 1st place with 18 points Trism got 2nd with 15 points GrapplingHook got 3rd with 8 points Kitty got last place with 7 points **NOTE** Previous winner (liquidrain) did NOT vote so there was no 2x points granted to anyone. Someone voted for himself as 3rd, so I had to change it to a different participant, a participant may NOT vote for themselves on MnP. To whom I am refering to, please do not do it again Sorry for not clarifying it in the MnP Guidelines, I shall rectify that. esperado, please pick the source tune for round 3 and PM me.
  9. I thought you guys were taken to court before, by like SquareEnix =/ ...or was that handled outside of court?
  10. Well as far as I'm aware, didn't OCR win several lawsuit attempts against them? Ask the Pretzel -sorry to butt in, couldn't resist =p Haha, is this an invitation for another collab?? Anyhoo, I'll take a look into this. Also, I understand that why you wouldn't want to resub. You wouldn't alter your baby to suit someone else's needs if you liked it the way it is :3 Cool idea for the album add. EDIT Wow...16 patterns for the drums alone. Talk about dedication EDIT 2 Yeah I kinda see how the J's had a hard time finding the source in here. I had a difficult time too - still, it's pretty swag. Nice work Mike
  11. I hope they gave him a good idea of how much more source usage he needs. Flex is the last person I'd expect to get a NO Speaking of which, does any1 have a link to the track?? I'd love to hear it Mike
  12. Well, that's good to hear - hopefully we'll see you next round
  13. NvM, gonna send this as a PM - was stupid of me for putting this on the front board.

  14. Your track is actually fine the way it is in terms of conservatism (god I hate that word). Since you broke the rule of not making qualitative remarks about your own crap, I followed suit =p - but only this time :3 - I've also slightly altered the rules and trimmed down on the example tracks, to the core ones that I think are perfect examples for MnP. Don't worry, MnP is still about the meat and potatoes, but I just want to encourage people to try and add a little more original content...I guess everyone knows who I voted 1st place for - I hope I didn't break anything >_<...better read that competition code and conduct more thoroughly myself I guess haha.
  15. Hey project devs - especially Dyne - don't encode my second remix yet, as I've got an update coming (I found some notation and humanization issues that need some TLC asap). I'll send a PM to Dyne as well.
  16. Where did you hear that? Was I blabbing too much? 2BH at this point I really have no clue as I haven't really asked much about it recently. It'd be nice if ppl would submit new stuff to the website that is still a work in prog - it might inspire the vgmix devs to get their $%&@ in gear haha.

  17. Oh I missed this post. Then disregard my (now deleted) previous post everyone - business as usual Next time if you'd like to participate Xenonetix, send me a PM with your track - if I have the time and energy next week, I'll try and contact ThaSauce admin to get your account activated. EDIT REGARDLESS, if you have an account working for ThaSauce or not, I can simply submit your remix in your stead
  18. Welcome to the voting Stage, there are 4 entries this round, good turn up Also, this is a reminder to everyone who is/considering participating to let me know about account issues for ThaSauce before the due-date so that things can run smoothly and I don't die of a panic attack.
  19. Indeed, good stuff guys keep 'em coming if you got time n energy
  20. heh, I might have a scrounge too - kinda like a hobo going through the garbage bin, looking for freebies :3 Also, this place rocks too - better yet, it has VSTs http://www.dskmusic.com/ (edit: as expected, the instruments aren't overly robust, but I found a few gems here nonetheless.
  21. http://soundfonts.darkesword.com/ Lotsa semi-decent free samples here, courtesy of Darkesword
  22. Yeah, tho I bet there's already a few threads here about it - just can't be assed to look haha. But that's where google comes in handy :3
