To be honest, it plays more like a combination of tower defense, team-based FPS games, and WoW PVP. It's not that much like D2 in my opinion.

Whoa lots of posts since yesterday. In our games, Tempest is similar to Arachna and Succubus. I barely ever see anyone besides me get wards without someone asking for them, even if they're support. Nor do we actually have teams that have the coordination to go gank the enemy jungle. (I don't think I have EVER been ganked in an inhouse game when I was jungling with Tempest) It's really easy for me to get an eight minute portal key and gank bot a few times. After that I will generally just dominate the teamfights. It's easy to say "Don't bunch up", but that's not something you're going to remember once the teamfight has already started, just like with Plague Rider. Considering all of this, I don't think most of the people in our inhouse games have the coordination to counter Tempest effectively, whether it be by warding his jungle, ganking him often, or spread out effectively. Also, Bardic, I don't think it has ever come to the point where I was the support hero and the enemy team had a jungler, but if it were the case I would have definitely warded their jungle. Reminds me of this time we had a Tree on our team who warded all but two of our neutral spawns, resulting in me as Chronos not being able to farm off neutrals.

I have to disagree with the "Don't use blink+DB, just lasthit". No matter how good you are at last-hitting, getting the lasthit on every single creep in midgame by merit of auto-attacks only will INEVITABLY be a lot slower than blink+DB or stalk+barrel roll. It's not a matter of laziness, it's a matter of outfarming your opponents. Those few seconds you gain by instagibbing a creep wave compared to lasthitting it with auto-attacks will start adding up as you farm more. I have never gotten bfury on madman for this reason, he can farm very well with his stalk + barrel roll already. In midgame you will have probably run out of mana after doing this combo on 3-4 creep waves, but by that time the lane would be pushed far enough that it becomes dangerous to keep on farming from it, so in my experience it works out well enough.

Well, inform me then, because the way I figure, bkb is a very solid item on a lot of the agi melee DPS (semi)carries, especially if you're facing lots of disables, as was the case yesterday. I know madman already is semi-protected from getting chainstunned before the team battle has even started because of stalk, but I also think that if you carry with him, you're going to want to be in the thick of things so you can actually fulfill your role as DPS. Obviously if you're going to gear him more towards ganking, something like shieldbreaker is probably superior, but I guess it just comes down to how you play him.
-
Okay Hemophiliac, seriously. When I play a hero, you can assume I have at least a basic understanding of item builds and how to adapt them to the enemy team. You don't need to point out that every time you play madman your team has won. Nor do you need to constantly imply that I should have let you play him. And you CERTAINLY don't need to call me out on my item choices, especially if you're going to make suggestions like "Get Slash instead of BKB" when the enemy team has ~4 AoE disables. Complaining about bad players/feeders is one thing, complaining when I haven't even died yet and am succesfully ganking is just completely uncalled for.

Rather than a hero tier list, make a player tier list!

Yeah I don't appreciate backdooring in inhouse games, though I guess it's fair game in competitive scrims since it's obviously not banned. I consider it kind of the same like picking a typical 'noob-stomp' hero (arachna, bloodhunter) when there's a bunch of new people on the enemy team. To be honest, I DID think the teams were balanced, especially the game where you randomed scout. I mean, it took a good 50-60 minutes for us to finally win, and even then it went back and forth quite a lot of the time. It definitely wasn't a roll in favor of either side, which is good IMO. It was a match I wouldn't have minded losing. Also, I don't remember our team having specific anti-carries in that game? We had Pestilence, Valkyrie, Demented Shaman, Wildsoul and one that I can't remember (Defiler maybe?) vs Arachna, Scout, Nymphora, Kraken and Magmus iirc. So we were very heavy on hard carries and semi-carries, but we didn't have any of the heroes you mentioned.

OCR01913 - Final Fantasy VII "The Omen of Jenova"

Why is this softer than the WIP version that I did the drums for, yet it sounds way more compressed/squashed? Lern2production (jk I <3 this) -
Pharaoh is such a goddamn solid hero. Went 9/0/16 last night with him in an inhouse, and I have to say, initiating ganks with his ult is just amazing fun.
-
I have to agree with zircon on Saatanas being a dick ingame, with no understanding of teamplay. He was on our side in that game where we lost to the backdooring scout and he'd spend most of the time solo pushing a lane as swiftblade, and subsequently getting ganked. And he'd of course give everyone sass who told him to stop soloing etc.
-
aw hell no

Magebane is now even harder to gank due to the effect his aura has on spells. He can now actually help out in team battles a lot more (by providing magic armor with his blink, and inhibiting spellcasters). He's also a lot stronger in a lane against nukers because they'll have to think twice about using spells to harass him. Still not really a top pick but definitely more useful than before.

New patch is out! Most notable for me is the addition of Pandamonium, an awesome, much needed ganker/DPS strength carry (the only other two I can think of that fill that role are Pestilence and maybe Predator), major buffs/reworks for Magebane and Dark Lady, as well as the buff to Behemoth's heart. Pandamonium is tons of fun to play, he has two skills that mess with the positioning of the enemy, an armor reducing slow and an AoE stun, as well as a channeled, disabling ult (very similar to Devourer and Succubus), making him a great ganker. Both his ult and his primary 'combo' attack do damage based on his auto-attack damage with a % increase, which makes him scale very well into lategame (his ult on level 3 deals 4 hits which do auto-attack damage +100%, this could easily be 4 x 600 depending on the armor reduction and items you have). Both the new behemoth's heart and the new riftshards work amazingly well on him. The thing that makes this hero the most fun to play is the (un-forced) synergy between all his skills. It's amazing fun to open with flick, reducing their armor and throwing them closer towards your tower/team, follow up with cannonball for a stun, wail on them with auto-attacks until the stun wears off, combo with flurry so they get pushed farther into your tower/team, and finish it up with face smash. Barely anyone should survive that in early/midgame. His main drawback, or rather balancing factor, is that he's got an absolutely pathetic mana pool and you shouldn't count on pulling off the aforementioned combo more than once without needing a refill at the fountain. Bottle/Mana Battery are pretty much core items on this guy, but he does synergize well with Glacius. Edit: Messed around with the Dark Lady a bit, she seems at least 'decent' now, rather than crap tier. Her stats have been buffed, which gives her a much better mana pool and makes her an alright ganker in midgame. The damage+ silence+ attack speed buff you get from dark blades+ blink is very good for some quick burst damage. Her slow/nuke is very cheap as well. Once you get a runed axe (which should probably be a core item on her, it gives mana regen and farming ability), you can basically one-shot creep waves with dark blades/blink, which makes her a surprisingly good farmer (like, on-par with zephyr + mock). Lategame she's nothing to scoff at: if you build her for attack speed and damage, it shouldn't be too hard to get her up to 500 damage per auto-attack with dark blades active. Coupled with her insane attack speed from blinking, she's definitely a force to be reckoned with.

I've seen Pestilences who got vanguard and battlefury.
-
Ban backdooring imo. Also I played a pretty mean pestilence that game! He needs to be at least A-tier!
-
I definitely agree with where he put defiler. Her core items, phaseboots, sac stone and behemoth's heart have all been significantly nerfed in the most recent version, to the point where she can no longer be the monster INT tank carry she used to be. She's still solid with her ult but she can't solo the entire enemy team anymore, even with all those items.

So one of the more notorious/famous residents of the official HoN forums, named Glorify/Angel, has posted one of his own tier lists. He's a competitive player as I understand it so it might be interesting to look at it from his perspective. http://forums.heroesofnewerth.com/showthread.php?t=26774 I especially like how he says Pestilence is the best carry. (Because he really is <3)

I love Soapiadon's first skill the most, it makes an illusion that lasts for 1 second at level 1.
-
what why zephyr is a bird birds cant breathe underwater thats just crazy edit: oh im dumb he can obviously just fly above it durrrr
-
But what if they random soapiadon, and flood the entire map with his ult!?! I mean, it's the entire ocean!
-
You obviously need to play more 2v2 AREM. Or 2v2 duplicate heroes Blacksmith only.
-
What zircon said, basically. With Pestilence, I usually start with 2x runes and logger's hatchet. Unless I'm getting REALLY outlaned (which is quite rare), I completely skip bracers and get Helm of the Victim (950 gold) from the outpost asap which provides armor and regen, making me immune from most earlygame harassment, and providing a buildup towards Insanitarius. Speaking of Insanitarius, words can't express my love for this item on certain STR heroes. Besides adding some very nice passive stats (regen, damage, attack speed), upon activation it provides a HUGE non-scalable dps boost (so it's perfect for earlygame ganking), as well as an instant ~500 health. Downside being you lose 35 hp per second as long as it's activated. Uses for this are infinite: you can use it to destroy almost anything 1v1 early-midgame with the huge damage boost, you can activate it just before what would be an otherwise lethal nuke, and it's just generally great to activate it as you're about to die and hightail it out of there (or turn the tables on the sucker who was thinking he'd get an easy kill ).
-
My favorite heroes at the moment are Pestilence and Zephyr (mainly because Zephyr apparently means an insta-win for me unless the teams are severely rigged and we would have lost no matter what I picked ).
-
A bad pyro will chain-nuke the enemy hero to death. A good pyro will chain-nuke the enemy down to red health so the carry on his team can TOO BAD IT'S ME, BLACKSMITH.

This is the best meme, guys, this right here.
