OCR TF2 Team: Gametime 9 PM EST on OCR server MWF + some weekends
Bahamut replied to zircon's topic in General Discussion
So today will mark the first day the server will use SourceMod to handle the admins, as well as the reserved slots (which should fix the reserved slots issue - try to join even if the server is full). If there are any issues with them tonight, please tell me. I will have to figure out how to install/use SourceMod radio down the line, and the advertisements will be gone. Also, I enabled the obnoxious Quake soundbites (i.e. Dominating, Holy Shit!, etc.) For those with admins, check the first post for details on how to use them via SourceMod. (i.e. saying sm_admin in the console will access the admin menu) Lastly, I finally looked up how to enable Sudden Death, and enabled it on the server. -

Oh shit. And as I post this the pic in the upper right is Crono - a coincidence? I think not.

Well, we did have a smallish meetup last summer in NYC too - it'd be nice to have something with more people around the city, and I've pondered the idea before.

Any map suggestions for tomorrow night? -
So the best dates I can think of are July 19th, 26th, or August 2nd. Thoughts?

August 2nd NYC Meetup @ Coney Island! Meeting Place: Not Coney Island and not at the original Nathan's ( http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=Nathan's+Coney+Island++New+York,+NY&ie=UTF8&ll=40.575532,-73.981719&spn=0.015255,0.026779&z=15&iwloc=C ) Meeting time: Noon? Instructions: For those coming from Long Island and via LIRR, the best way to get to Coney Island, your best bet is making it to the Flatbush Ave. stop on the LIRR (a transfer may be necessary at Jamaica). From here, you can take a number of subways to get to Coney Island, notably the N and Q both end there, and I think both the B & D stop there as well. For those coming from elsewhere, such as New Jersey or Westchester County, your best public transportation option is to get into Port Authority/Penn Station/Grand Central, and then make your way to the N or Q train towards downtown (at Grand Central you would need to take the S to get to them, but for the two former locations you can board the N or Q right from those places). Stuff to do: I've never really been inside of Coney Island myself, so it'll be a first for me. It does feature amusement park rides such as a rollercoaster and ferris wheel, so there should be plenty to do. I'm not sure how much it will cost, but I'd bring at least $50 for insurance (hopefully the expenditures for the day will be less). If someone wants to host a sleepover, they should chime in since that'd be a nice bonus. If someone knows of places to go around the area, also mention them! (i.e. dinner or something else in the night. Being that it's Saturday in the city, there has got to be other things going on if we happen to exhaust stuff to do in Coney Island) Definites Bahamut PassivePretentiousness José the Bronx Rican Tentatives Atmuh

Yeah, I was on my PSP playing Mega Man Powered Up.

My problem with his complaints aren't really the complaints themselves - it's that he formed them in an incredibly whiny way, that he has no hope if OCRers vote, and repeatedly posts this antagonistic view that he can't do anything for himself while this situation continues, as if others aren't doing far worse and as if the effects of the negative encouragement some make aren't far more evident. Most of the great artists out there just take it as tough luck, and use it as incentive to make better music that stands out more on its own merits, music that they can be proud of regardless of any affiliation. I don't see any of that in his posts in this thread, which is why he is getting the hostile responses - it is just deserved IMO for such an attitude. Edit: And for more relevant news, I finished voting on all 1128 entries.

You do know that some of the other artists on Ourstage bring in far larger fanbases than OCR does right? Unless you happen to bring in a very large fanbase, your track can't suck THAT much to win (excepting maybe last month's winner). Sure, the best track may not necessarily win, but that's the whole nature of this type of contest. QFT - why is a ban necessary here? What pixie was saying is that your complaints shouldn't be taken to such a degree - everyone entering the competition should know that Ourstage is designed like that, but for an artist, it doesn't hurt to try. Even if you don't win first in a genre, or first place in the finals, the main objective of such a competition is to expose artists to new audiences, even some who might normally listen to music far apart from what you make. The money is really secondary to this purpose.

I'm not going to be able to go to Otakon - I have to drive back to Illinois around then.

I miss it all already

People still play Halo 3?

So I'm back in NY after one of my top 5 worst bus rides ever to get back home. Twas a fun time and am definitely looking forward to seeing some of you guys again. If people want, I'm willing to go to one sometime in July and I'll post a thread suggesting one tomorrow. The December ones are no good for you?

You still need to copy a file from the CD in order to do that though.

Huh, Relics of the Chozo costs money now.

It's Russia though - last I checked, they're pretty bad about copyright enforcement to the point that they have troubles getting accepted to the WTO (World Trade Organization for the noobs out there). -

Just to let everyone know, I've been meaning to look into other mods in order to fix the screwy reserved slot system of BeetlesMod - I intend on switching this over to SourceMod's implementation, but this probably won't happen for a few days since I'll be in Philadelphia for the OCR meetup. I've been able to figure out how to give admins with this, but figuring out how to implement the admin menu is another task, as well as to retain the rest of the features that we have with BeetlesMod, i.e. coding everything & setting up scripts. As for tonight and the next few days, the map rotation will include 2fort and granary. -

There's also SourceMod, which is supposedly the most powerful, but I have no clue how to use it. -

By a mod - I use BeetlesMod on the server, so it's all handled through there. -
