So i'll host it on soundcloud and enable downloading. This is my remix that was written for the Artist Appreciation Competition that was run by Shadow24 back in January. In what was a very heated round this remix came in a close third of round 1 of the Bravo Bracket due to a tie between first and second place. Source:
  2. Hi there,Orchestration and arrangement of music from Child of Light. You are probably not the right person to deal with this, but I didn't find information regarding this on the site, ReMix name: The Moon, the Stars, the SunComment: This is an arrangement and orchestration of music from Child of Light with Aurora's Theme in focus. In my opinion, a simple soundtrack like the OST suits the game with it's artistic style and story. But I believe a more broad, orchestral and grandiose one would fit perhaps equally well. I hope you like it!Best regards!
  3. Pretty nice, it's a change of pace from Alex's normal style. Orchestral sequencing is more exposed but sounds good on first listen - drums get somewhat plodding by the end. Also needs an arrangement check ~ Emu ReMixer - RoeTaKa Name - Alex Roe Email - UserID - 9374 Games Arranged - Dark Souls Arrangement Name - Kindle the Soul Songs Arranged - Firelink Shrine (and Maiden in Black from Demon's Souls at 4:35 onwards) Comments: The Souls games have become a pivotal series in my life, it's a strange feeling to know you owe a lot to a video game franchise. Demon's Souls will always be what made me feel accepted into the Souls community and have an insanely supportive fanbase on my YouTube channel. But Dark Souls helped me through tougher times, it's a game that set me straight when I needed it. It makes me really happy to know that my Souls remixes mean something to the people that play these games. This time I have remixed Firelink Shrine. It's the last safe hub area of the Souls games that I haven't touched, mostly because I wasn't sure I could do anything with it that was worth doing. I've had some hard times with music lately and here I felt like I was returning to a younger Alex whose style I have neglected for a long time. I really enjoy chilled out music that has some emotion to it and I feel like it's a really natural thing for me to come back to. I did a lot of original material over the source but I tried to keep the original in tact with the strings and other elements. The drums might be a bit repetitive for OCRemix but I think they work. At the end of the song I used the hub theme from Demon's Souls when the drums drop out, it's mostly just to say that I like that song more haha but I think it made an enjoyable ending. I really enjoyed making this and I hope you enjoy it too! Source:

  5. I want in on this. Not sure which track, but I've got my eyes on Spirit of the Night or I Closed My Eyes. I've got a few free days to throw something together, so I'll see what comes to me for either of those tracks over the weekend.
  6. Hooo boy. This might be the most downright-fun track I've heard from Ben to date. I'm very glad this didn't just gather dust on a hard drive. The fusion of acoustic instruments with his standard 8-bit pallet heavily evokes memories of halc's formative years, but the arrangement and wild melodies is 100% Lemon. I know Chimpazilla is going to love the use of sound effects here, very cleverly integrated in a way that actually contributes to the song's momentum. The only flaw I can really pick out here is that the marimba sample sticks out as dry and sits sort of strangely in the mix, especially on the lower notes. The arrangement here is very clearly above the bar but seeing as how this is a couple years old, the production isn't necessarily Lemon's best work. No biggie, I really enjoyed this one. YES

I have long desired to submit a remix but I never had the means to make something of any real production value. Near the beginning of this year, I bought a Yamaha MM8 synth, FL Studio 11, USB2 audio interface, and microphone. I don't often have much time to write music and I am still learning a lot. I am still quite the beginner even though I have long been a clarinetist and lover of music. This song is an ode to my childhood. I played the Sega Master System to death. It was the music from these games that got me addicted to music and, more specifically, video game music. There are no recorded music, but there are Kontakt 5 instruments, MM8 instruments, a few added sound effects, and did what I could to mix it properly. The intro, first part, and last parts are all melodically based from the music of the game. There is a small middle section that is influenced from the game but is a little bit more free form. I had trouble matching the overall sound level of the music to other songs on OCRemix, but I did a lot of experimenting with the individual tracks and added a compressor to the main track which did help the overall mix.In future work I am planning on utilizing my clarinet. Even if this song does not get accepted, I am really looking forward to the advice that the judges can give me; after all, they have much more experience than I do. I have and will continue to enjoy the great remixes featured on OCRemix.org. Thank you so very much.
  9. Didn't do an in-depth source check, but it seems like a solid expansion on the sound design front. Bass is pumping pretty loudly and the whole track feels a touch overcompressed. 13. The artist provided 2 alternate mixdowns based on Larry's feedback - I have linked them both above. For my money, the 2nd "alt" mix sounds more full, but either one is a pass. I would personally leave it to the artist's discretion which mixdown they would like to use. I can't get enough DS Castlevania action. Love these games so much. This mix is very solidly conceived, I'm digging the juxtaposition between the gothic-style bells and strings that have become a trademark of Castlevania soundtracks, and the grungy, distorted garage rock instrumentation. It's an unconventional blend on paper, but actually feels quite natural the way you executed it. The string sequencing was a highlight, it's actually pretty tricky to sequence orchestral lead instruments in with live instrumentation and still maintain the illusion of realism, but I think you struck a nice balance here. Nice work. (I liked this before and I like it still. Just going to copy/paste my vote from last time because it all still applies.) YES
  14. Link (version 1) - not panned as widely, attempting to address Larry's concerns Link (version 2) - tweaked version with wide panning initially meant as the RESUB; this is actually Tim's preferred version for resubmission Previous Decision Here's a mixdown which should address your panning concerns. It's far too dense for my taste, but perhaps it'll suit your needs.
  15. Gorgeous textures and some really smooth performances - you don't get too terribly fancy with any of the changes to the original source, but your arrangement handles Rainbow Road's melodies very tactfully with a lot of enhancements on the chord progression and harmonies. I love this approach and the sound quality is great. With the exception of :59-1:05, where things get inexplicably cluttered and busy, the sound quality is hitting all the major points for me. However, the arrangement here is so short - we almost never post tracks that are under 2 minutes long and this, unfortunately, feels too short for us. Give us even another 30-60 seconds of arrangement and fix up the aforementioned clutter at :59, and this would be an easy pass in my book. The fadeout at the end feels lazy too, I'd love to hear a more definitive ending. Hope to hear this one again, what you have is quite lovely and I'd love to hear it expanded just a bit further to push it over our bar. NO (resubmit!)

The piece remains in a Jazz/Fusion style with some rock influences, keeping the melodies very loyal to the original while re-harmonizing its support! I also added some of the rhythmic textures found in the original Rainbow Road track from SNES's Mario Kart, mainly located near the beginning of the piece. Overall a very fun and accessible arrangement that is meant to showcase the well-known melodies under a different light! ** In case the YouTube channel is not allowed as a valid website, my other choice would have to be my personal website: http://www.benaimcomposer.com (just in case!) 17. Cool ideas, some neat stuff on the sound design front but there's a few mixing issues that stand out. That 808 is out of control! After the 2 minute mark things start to get pretty repetitive. I also remixed another track from the game at the same time as this; originally called Rock is Sponge by Joujouka (which I'm not sure if you'd allow me to submit sooner than the 3 weeks? Since it is a companion piece of sorts). I wanted to keep them as dance tracks in a similar style but just add my own touch to them as a tribute. There is a mix of samples and unique sounds mostly made on synths.
  18. There's definitely a lot of merit here to the sound design and slow, deliberate progression, but I think Larry hit the nail on the head. By our site standards today, this doesn't really feel like a fully-realized concept. I need to hear something more in order to meet our bar for interpretation and development of the source tune. NO
  19. To whomever it may concern, I have covered the track "Unavoidable Battle" from the video game Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3. Here is the file. Here is some information about the song itself: - Game - Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 - Submission Title - Shadow Swarm - Original Song Title (from the game) - Unavoidable Battle - Original Composer - Shoji Meguro - Other comments: I've always wanted to combine the two things I love most: Hard Rock/Heavy Metal and Persona. I have an entire YouTube channel dedicated to "turning up" the original arrangements. This cover was completely rebuilt and recorded from the ground up, using the original melody as a basis, as well as adding very low-tuned guitars and bass as well as thrash-metal style drumming. Also, while creating this cover, I wanted to be different from the original, so I came up with a very polyrhythmic breakdown and a half-timed breakdown outro, inspired by the Djent movement of Progressive Metal. This makes the arrangement more frantic and chaotic than the original, befitting as this song plays when the party cannot escape a battle. While making this cover, I have also assembled a "Persona 3 Band" and gave them individual parts: - Band Name: The Execution Squad - Rhythm Guitars = Yukari Takeba - Lead Guitars = P3 Protag (I will call him Makoto in this case) - Rhythm + Lead Guitars = Mitsuru Kirijo - Bass = Junpei Iori - Drums = Akihiko Sanada - Keyboards/Synthesizers = Fuuka Yamagishi - Sampler/Synthesizers = Aigis - Manager/Tech = Ken (sorry... Since I felt like making another track for the album I did some random browsing of PS1 RPG tunes when I stumbled upon this beautiful piece by Miki Higashino. It instantly inspired me and just begged to be remixed. So I just started working on something, replacing the piano from the original with a guitar arpeggio and playing the leads on a flute VST doubled by a whistle. Next was the violin part which I added as a counter melody and a few hours after finding the song I had a decent WIP going. I passed the preview to Ivan, who said “hey, it’d be cool if you could get a flautist, I think I saw somebody on Youtube who could do it”. So I did some searching and found Lauren, who incidentally created her own take on “Reminiscence” not too long ago. She was happy to work together with me on this track for some great flute and whistle parts. Or as Lauren notes: "This is my first time participating on an OCRemix track and it's been a great experience. I really appreciated working with Jorrith, even when we kept running into the technical limitations of my instruments. I think it was a learning experience and a discovery process for both of us in the best possible way, and I'm really thrilled with how it turned out!" As fate would have it, in the related videos I found Joy’s vocal cover of “Reminiscence” and it was so good and moving that I immediately approached her if she would be so kind to re-record for me. Again, a very enthusiastic reply and another great performance. Or as Joy sums it up: "I was really thrilled when Jorrith reached out to me about this collaboration and I was honored to work with these amazingly talented musicians. It was a lot of fun to record and I'd love to be part of something like this sometime again.” At that point I basically felt that my remaining MIDI parts weren’t good enough anymore and that I needed more real instruments. I approached Trev, who also claimed a track for the album, for the violin and string parts, and XPRTNovice, who I worked with before, and again happy faces and very skilled and inspiring performances. Trev agrees: "I recorded my parts with an SM57 in my violin studio in Chapel Hill NC, where I teach and practice. The violin is of the 19th century and crafted in Mittenwald, Germany. I really love this track selection for its orchestration and beautiful harmony, and there one section where I overdubbed myself 16 times to emulate a string section. I'm happy I could contribute!" I really feel all these performances did the track a lot of good and you hardly notice the MIDI in the background anymore So in hindsight this track came together as a set of stumblings, happy accidents and collaborations with great artists that are very cool people to work with. And I think it shows in the end result. I really dig it and it wouldn’t have been nowhere as good with these talented performers. Was it worth all the hard work of coordinating, synchronising and playing producer? You bet! Adding original vocals was natural not only because that's our normal MO but also because the original track is perfectly divided for easy transitions and clear, distinct sections. The breakdown was added as a way to bridge the two halves of the song and to break it up from feeling too repetitious. After rewatching some of the stages, I found where I did Polar Kamrous's stage, and I really liked the BGM in that stage. I didn't really 'get' how good it was back then, because at that point, well... I didn't even write music yet! I decided to look through the Mega Man Zero 2 soundtrack, and I figured out that that track was called 'Ice Brain'. It's such a catchy track, now that I hear it in 2015. Shariq finds this to be the best track in the game, IIRC! After 3 years of writing music with Zebra2, I finally bought a new synth called 'Serum' by Xfer Records (wait, it's not Zebra2?), so I really wanted to make a complex glitch hop-ish atmospheric ReMix using Serum (and Zebra2) to make plenty of new bass sounds (I was making this track at the same time as my Vampire Variations III track, so that's why I used Serum in both). I took the parts of the melody that I thought were the most catchy, expanded on their contour, and switched up the rhythm to take the track in multiple new directions, with ambience that hits you where it counts, big pads, ... big everything, really. It's dubstep like you've never heard it before!" 23. First impressions - mixing feels imbalanced and I'm not sure how I feel about the level of repetitiveness in the beat or the guitar sample, but it's got promise - Emu User : KDStylez Name : Diego E-mail Address http://kiddeception.newgrounds.com/ Name of game arranged: Ninja Gaiden 2 the Dark Sword of Chaos Name of arrangement: You gotta Love it (Life) Song Contains Samples from Ninja Gaiden 2 Dark Sword of Chaos Tower of Lahja Composers: Dj Cutman Written and performed by Kid Deception, and Rae Raven Produced by Dj CutMan Engineerd at Black Light INK studios in San Diego. 24. The live band elements are super tight, as expected! Like the Golden Axe cover, this doesn't exactly reinvent the wheel when it comes to Ice Cap Zone mixes, but you've brought a lot of fresh ideas to the table. The lead and rhythm guitars were certainly a highlight but nobody in the band was slacking on this track. My only two nitpicks on this - the lead synth is somewhat quiet in the mix, and I wasn't a fan of that trance rhythm fill that repeated itself a few times throughout the mix. To be honest, I thought it cheapened an otherwise-awesome cover because of how generic it sounded. No biggie, others may enjoy it but that was a weak link here. Pretty easy YES for me. Love the video, definitely excited to see what you come up with next! YES
