  1. Hello everyone, here is a small update, up to around 2 minutes. As you can see, I am transitioning into a minor-key rendition of the theme. The plan is to segway back into a full-fledged major key climax at the end. Remix V2
  2. Thanks for the comments, guys. By the way, "Peaceful days" is the name of the original track, I don't have a title for the remix. Hopefully some of you could help out, I'm not very good with names.
  3. By the way, yes, if I ever submit this, I will replace the cheesy piano soundfont with a real recording. Remix V1 Just a rough cut of a little over a minute. Source music: Peaceful Days, Chrono Trigger: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uODZVIkuqlI
  4. Here it is: http://www.omohide.com/music/Corridor%20of%20Time%20(www.omohide.com).mp3 In the end I just left it more as my personal "remake" rather than an OCR-style rearrangement.
  5. More: http://omohide.com/corridor2.mp3 Re: Pander. I don't know if I was really going for any specific tone other than the organic sounding one I had in my head. I did include some tabla-aided percussion to recall the Hindu sounds of the original. My intent when starting was just to bring the piece out in the way it always did it my head, but I may consider adding a more personal touch to the arrangement and submitting it to OCR.
  6. So I'm working on kind of a "remake" of this tune. I don't know if I'll submit it to OCR since I'm not currently focusing too much on rearrangement, but maybe in the future. Here's the beginning, the general sound I'm going for. http://omohide.com/corridor1.mp3
  7. Ah, some interest. I was close to ditching this project. Perhaps. Maybe if you suggest any melodious, non-action, thematic material, I could take a look.
  8. The first one minute: http://www.omohide.com/ocremix/test1.mp3 Never played the game myself, but I like the music. This track is called "Boundary" though sometimes I see it called "Podorui" or something like that.
  9. It seems like everything I do is a third of the volume of the commercial stuff, as well as some remixes, I listen to. For example, this file: http://www.omohide.com/qqqqq.mp3 Seems to be as loud as I can get it without the clipping red light going off in my sequencer. But it seems quiet compared to some other programs, and especially when I play it on my cellphone, compared to other stuff on there. So what is the secret here? Is it possible to increase the volume on this example? How?
  10. It is.....but my school has a digital music program with some great equipment and software so I pay nothing!
  11. Anything related to Schubert is worth continuing. But seriously, I like what I hear, I want to hear more, I don't know if the sound quality is good enough though, but I really like the concept.
  12. Is this what you're talking about? http://youtube.com/watch?v=dh3bleXWaCk&mode=related&search= I admit I'm not a big fan of the genre or electric in general, I'm not sure if it's original or not as I haven't really listened to a lot of electric guitar music. Nothing really stood out between the parts you listed though. I actually thought it was a bit unpleasant around 4:00 and 4:45. I've heard other electric guitar music I have liked better.
  13. Thanks for the kind words guys! Here's a long ramble as my gratitude: In the months after I originally submitted I was constantly learning more and so I can understand the criticisms of the judges, especially zircon comment about cymbals. Chalk it up to newbie-ness It does kind of annoy me that I had tried to contact one judge through PM to get a pre-submission opinion and got a "need more info" reply, and no reply when I provided that (coincidentally that was one of the judges who voted "NO" rather starkly to this mix on the panel). I don't know if I will submit more, as I feel like the WIP process isn't too rewarding without proper feedback. I did realize I was entering shaky territory by creating an orchestral mix to an orchestral soundtrack, so I can see why some people would think it's not "different" enough to qualify. But, my main goal was to interpret and build the melody in the way I wanted, and in a cinematic sort of tone. But it was still a fantastical, orchestral arrangement of a fantastical, orchestral original source. I knew I was kind of toeing the line, and I would have completely understood if it had been rejected because of that fact, but I'm happy it worked out in the end.
  14. Hi, I never said you wrote it, which should have been indicated by my use of the phrase "when people praise you it makes you want to let everyone know". Also, there's really no need to be combative here, considering I praised the project earlier there's not much reason for me to argue back, so, good work with the album.
  15. The Morrowind mix from wingless i what drew me here. Still one of the best on the site.
  16. Yeah, that made me cringe a bit, but I suppose this is the first "all-out" release the site is making and because it's source material, Final Fantasy, is so widely known and popular, they want to do everything possible to attract every possible listener. And although I hate to admit it, that kind of stuff really does attract attention for the site, and most of the casual listeners who would be drawn in by it probably wouldn't have the same complaints as you. Besides, when people praise you it makes you want to let everyone know. And when you think about it, it's not really that much of an exaggeration. There's not a huge amount of video game arrangement albums, is there? So it's not much of a stretch to say this is one of the best, even if a lot of it isn't in a genre that I enjoy too much, I can still appreciate it.
  17. Right...but that that doesn't really have anything to do with just asking when they expect to return to schedule....It's a question, not a demand.
  18. First of all, congratulations on the release, it's a great project. I have to ask though, I wonder when you guys plan to return to regular posting? AKA how long do you plan to leave the project featured up at the front?
  19. I'm in Canada, I've never heard anyone use the term "flutist". "Flautist" isn't a "fancy" way of saying it, it's an alternative way of saying it...
  20. Okay, sure. (I heard this was a great game). Any other reccomendations? Are there any tracks with strong themes
  21. It sounds like a good deal for $50 bucks, and I suppose people would prefer to get a popularity boost by having an OCRemix blog rather than joining one of the million blogs on blogspot (unless there starts to be tons of blogs on Ocremix), then again, there's probably less customization and power (therefore less individuality) in this system than if you just make your own blog (like I do). The Google thing is a good point, but then again, I use wordpress which has already pushed my site to the top of many google searches in a few weeks.. So basically, my answer was "uninterested" but if people really want it, then I guess that speaks for itself.
