OCR Meetup: Las Vegas, August 2010: **PICS PAGE 43-44**
Draconiator replied to Monobrow's topic in General Discussion
ALWAYS FLY ON BIG JETS. That is all. Small regional carriers use small planes (some of you might get a small plane for a short hop if you're changing planes less than 500 miles or so from your destination) which are sometimes cramped. One small plane we flew on (SAAB 340; not this one): was alright, except it had a godawful small lavatory that you will have problems in if you need to use the facilities on the flight. As I understand it, some 340s don't have one and use the space as extra luggage storage, though. Another nightmare was the godawful 1900s: It's a very good thing we only used this thing for a short hop, otherwise I might have gone insane. I was small when we flew on one, but you will have to crawl into it. BE SURE you get the 1900D, as it has a higher cabin. I haven't flown in a while, but I've been on these two and remember the drawbacks of both. -
Donkey Kong Country 3: Double the Trouble! - History
Draconiator replied to Emunator's topic in Projects
My debut on ANY big CD, as a bonus track. This is the full completed version that will be on the CD...but as not to reveal TOO much... ...I intentionally made this preview file to make it sound extremely low quality. Not to worry I still have the high-quality, 160kbs song, but Emunator will have a WAV soon from me. So if you like this lo-fi version, the Hi-Fi version that will be a bonus track will be a whole lot better, I guarantee it. So without further blabbing, I present "Rocket Rave", a Rocket Run remix: http://www.box.net/shared/2x93f04vqn Like what you heard? Get the CD! -

Can you change this account's name to Draconiator? That is what I'm known as here at OCR now (I joined the forums a long time ago.) I've had people say they can't find me on the forums because of my name.

...so I decided to hunt around here, see what songs I have in the game music collection that I want to remix, and I found Donkey Kong Country 3's "Rocket Run". Decided to give that one a shot first. I'm taking my time on it, so it took 2 days to have a showable WIP. Note this is still very much in progress. The main part is only half finished, I still have to put 8 bars of original stuff in it. Any suggestions on what I should do? http://www.box.net/shared/juqm1kflrp

From my submission e-mail since I don't want to type it all over again: This actually started life as an original, as heard at my YouTube account ( http://www.youtube.com/user/Draconiator ) under the name "Evening Magic". I was messing around with it one day to see if I could do something cool with it, and in my head, I realized that the Zelda theme could be stuck in there. I had to be a bit creative with the melody, but after 2 hours of completely changing the melody, a Zelda mix popped out. I kept the middle section intact from my original, since it sounds great as is. The mix is here ---> http://www.box.net/shared/72x4nx63yl

Hedgehog Hysteria - a Sonic the Hedgehog remix album
Draconiator replied to JH Sounds's topic in General Discussion
Just listened to this earlier. Everything is great. Some sources are hard to figure out but I chock that up to not being familliar enough with the source material. Still, great job overall! Hope you continue with this stuff, man. -
and works with FL8, I'm giving my project file away. It was a good second attempt, but I realized that I love making original material a lot more than remixing for some reason. Learned a heck of a lot more as well. So here you go: http://www.box.net/shared/mgsneykzrm. I'm transferring the rights to this as well. Call it yours.

I was told by superjoe, that I am only improving. That's good, because I need all the practice I can get! This is also dedicated to one Andrew Aversa, A.K.A. Zircon; with his guides, I gained enough inspiration to finish this one. http://www.box.net/shared/gtyd9pkj8x

I lost the project file for this several months ago, but I recently found it and wanted to upgrade it, so loaded it up and spent a couple hours sprucing it up. Here it is: http://soundcloud.com/draconiator/justin-landry-space-mission And if you're interested, here's the old version: http://www.box.net/shared/oyag3k3xcj Edit: Linked to my new Soundcloud account instead, because I understand that Box is annoying

Aidyn Chronicles: The First Mage for N64. I think the producers of this game HAD to be drunk or something to hire this guy: And it you hate that one...Here's another! I mean WHO in their right mind could hire a musician like THAT?

wip "Club Hyrule" Ressurected!
Draconiator replied to Draconiator's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Link in my OP, It's now half a semitone up, 10 BPM slower (now 155), I'm almost done the main melody after which I will work on filling what I have out a bit. I want an arp in here for sure...I've added bass to the next part, but I'm not finished with that yet. I need reverb on it. Slowly but surely gettin' it done though. STILL no cymbal, dammit I can't find anything. Oh yeah, I need some fills as well, heh -
wip DKC2 - Bayou Boogie (prog house) (update 5/2)
Draconiator replied to Radiowar's topic in Post Your Game ReMixes!
Hmmm....getting better and better. I hear something you might want to take advantage of though. The low synth that comes in lasts 16 bars or so with the slow arp. I'd have it built up by 8 bars, and raise the cut after that, not wait another 4 bars.. After that is awesome though. I'm doing a remix myself, but I'll see if I can't edit this to show you what I see for the beginning. Edit: Keep your synths. They are awesome, but bring in your lead kind of like this. I figured that you use the cut knob elsewhere, this kind of thing would be great for this track. -
Remember this? http://www.box.net/shared/y0pzv72tm1 Well I decided that using one of my originals wasn't going to cut it, so I closed down shop for a while, and worked on more originals. I recently decided to give it another shot, but instead of using one of my originals, I would build it up from scratch, using some newly acquired techniques from here. So here it is so far: http://www.box.net/shared/4kk58j75aq INITIAL POST: The build up. It's kind of unfinished, but I will get to everything else in time. For one, I need a crash cymbal, as well as a closed hat, and bass. As well as some other things. EDIT 1: Nearly done the buildup. Still can't find a cymbal I like. I think this sounds loads better than the old version already. Any problems I should fix so far? EDIT 2: STILL no cymbal, but I have some of the main melody in. Slow going now because I need to think this carefully. EDIT 3: More of the main melody. The strings repeat because I have not yet edited them, heh I hope eventually to submit this as an OCReMix.

First off, I don't think there's anything wrong with your synths here. I like the arps you have here. Nice atmosphere too. Sounds summery. What's here is pretty good overall. As for a name? I'm pretty horrible when it comes to names, sorry. heh

Can anyone hold these on another IRC server so I can join in the fun soon? It's me Draconiator, and if you don't find another IRC server, then it's goodbye for good on the OHC front. What about Espernet? There's none of that banning you randomly crap there. I don't even use the default e-mail address your ISP gives you, I don't know why they are so paranoid.

I've ran head-on into a problem.
Draconiator replied to Draconiator's topic in Music Composition & Production
Thanks, fixed tthe problem. It was 1. Now I can go about upgrading my songs I have. -
I use FL8, and I've finally learned how to use the Peak Controller to sidechain. And it sounded great - the first time. Now, I have NO IDEA what I did, but whenever I try it now, instead of ducking whatever, like a string, it gets louder instead. I've dubbed this "reverse sidechaining". ....So what do I do to fix it? It's pretty annoying.
-
I have no idea what it is, but I hate the lead I used in this song after the build up. I know what you're saying...CHANGE IT! But that's the problem. I want to keep the data I have already...but every single lead I try, even if I make one from scratch, doesn't sound better than what I have now. It's a VST called "Microtrance" http://www.box.net/shared/ubfs7pvjg3 - here's the WIP
-
I don't like your signature, but I LOVE some of the stuff in here. Good job!

I figured I'd tackle this, seeing that I kinda thought it would work well as a ReMix. Here's the original: http://www.box.net/shared/3yhzrte3zf Started on the melody already, and I need guidance on it. It will sound REALLY odd later, as I need to change the rest of it still, but here it is, with the melody in....well some of it at least. Reminds me of a construction site currently, only aurally, heh. But you CAN hear what I'm going for Is it good as is? (the melody and bass) Here it is. Again...REALLY strange sounding later on, as I'm replacing patterns and editing others. VERY much a work in progress: http://www.box.net/shared/x5f4x502u4 Will update that link with newer and newer versions, and I will edit this post with new versions as I finish them. Edit 1: Updated version available. It sounds MUCH cleaner now, and the main melody is almost finished. I'm going to mix it up a bit after I finish everything else, since the judges don't like you sticking too close to the source, heh Edit 2: I've started messing around with the melody to make it more unique, and I've almost finished the main section. I just have the detuned lead Sytrus preset to finish, which is the most troublesome pattern in the project. Think that's why I saved it for last. Next update will be the finished main section, and cleaned up project so the file'll be a LOT smaller, so I can easily work on what I've got planned for it. Edit 3: There, all finished, except that stupid detuned synth, which I got lazy on. There's still automation in it, so that's why there's a LOOOOONG silence at the end of it. I'll fix it if something sounds out of place in the part coming up. At this point, I'm going to ask for help. What I should have done, and what I did right but tweaking would help. Think this is coming out awesome though. EDIT 4: REMIX CANCELLED, My local CD...well not sure yet, but I have a VERY good feeling it's going to be a HUGE local hit, and thus I need to focus on original stuff.

My second of three I decided to use as promotional material. Whacha think?

YouTube cut out the stereo at places, but here's what I've been working on in the ol' forge today. Can you review this please? Thanks.

IN PROGRES, don't have a name yet.
Draconiator replied to Draconiator's topic in Post Your Original Music!
http://www.box.net/shared/k6ip9azctt Update one. I'm still not sure what to call it...but it's complete up to the breakdown now (which is not complete, the patterns are there, but no fades, nothing). Any hints on where I should take it? I'm gonna change one of the Sytrus basses too, it sounds...weird. Any pointers on how to proceed?
