  1. Hmm, sounds like this is actually the original version of this track (I didn't see "remix" anywhere), not a bad job but.. kind of a ripoff if this supposed to be an original work.
  2. Ah yes, glossed right over it though, too much epic win .
  3. Anyone watched "The Lion King Fortress" 2.0 and 2.2? Very cool use of the TF2 voice commands, each character takes on the voice of a familiar TF2 class. Looks like the first one has been out for the a while and the second one is new.
  4. Bulk Rename Utility , this program does exactly what its name says, and is very handy when you need to rename a number of files, such as images, or (more likely to this site's users) songs in a specific format. Add prefixes, suffixes, remove certain characters, do numbering, it does it all! It takes a little getting used to, and the UI is pretty much "advanced mode" from the get-go, but it's an awesome time saver and I've really saved a lot of time with it, highly recommended. I was going to mention Mp3tag as well, excellent program, but prophet beat me to it. Edit: Just noticed prophet mentioned Advanced Renamer too, I don't know how it compares to BRU but I noticed it seems to have ID3 support which means its probably better for music, may have to check this out for myself.
  5. It's really cool to have a TF2 mix on the site, not only do a lot of people here play the game, the soundtrack (even though you only hear it when you first start the game) is really unique and catchy. There was little doubt in my mind when I saw this that I would enjoy it, though to be honest on the first listen it didn't really do too much for me. Since then, let's just say it's gotten exponentially better, to the point where I've been playing it several times in a row. It's really all anyone could hope for for an electro/dancy remix of the TF2 main theme, and it's pretty addictive! As soon as I listened to it the first time I knew it could only really end one way, with that oh so familiar victory jingle (I guess it's used in draws too, in a different way). It works perfectly and is the icing on the cake on a really fun mix!
  6. This is one of those rare songs that even though the source is prevalent and not hiding, it doesn't really remind me of the game in question (FFVIII) at all. This is its own thing, and don't get me wrong, that is totally fine. This is downright bubbly, but for me anyway, there's nothing wrong with that, this was a lot of fun to listen to and I will definitely be keeping it around. I think this is the first mix I've listened to that I've felt wouldn't feel out of place on a pop station on the radio if you get what I mean, or maybe just the first that made me think of that. Either way this was really cool, I dug .
  7. Saw the steam ad for this and figured it was an audiosurf ripoff and didn't give it much of a look. But this actually looks cool after watching the video, what are the pc controls like? If you can use the mouse I'm pretty sure I'll try this, if it's keyboard or controller only then I dunno.
  8. That was all I meant yeah, but like you said, I dunno, just a guess!
  9. Not bad, Equalizer was a little too good, but fun, was hoping they'd give out another round of Cheater's Laments before I give in and start idling, guess we'll see . Sam and Max stuff just doesn't sound cool to me at all, gonna take a wild guess those items will be less common than Bill's hat but I could be way off.
  10. I've played it a few times, usually only for 10 mins at max per sitting. It's kinda fun, but it hasn't really gotten addictive or anything. I'd always meant to try some OCR tracks on it but it just doesn't keep my interest very long before I jump to something else.
  11. Been wanting to order one of these for a while, last time I tried they were out of stock, I'm guessing not anymore! One Black T-Shirt order incoming!
  12. Very cool, not to sound like a broken record but the Tetris part was my favorite as well, along with the Frogger part, reminded me of Seinfeld .
  13. I really liked the original version of this, and I like this new version with lyrics as well. I was disappointed when I saw it was rejected months ago, but I'm no judge. As far as I'm concerned it's a great track though, I don't know if the lyrics would change the original concerns, or if you've changed the instrumentation at all, or if you have any intention of submitting this, I'd love to see it make the cut though.
  14. Hat percentage is pretty brutal, exact numbers are on the wiki, you have a chance every 4 hours and 17 minutes or something. The table of averages shows that around 200 hours the chances of you having at least one hat are decent, but no doubt, plenty meet this and do not have one. See http://www.tf2wiki.net/wiki/Hats for the exact numbers. I've only been playing since early February, 134 hours now, no hats except Camera Beard which was dropping much more often than regular hats for a while, and Gibus, which doesn't really count.
  15. This sort of reminds me of why i still just use winamp and file names as the primary way to sort my music. I like ID3 tags when they're done right but in the grand scheme of things (not talking about OCR here at all), they are often inconsistent and a mess, leading to a lot of manual updating. That said, I've really become a fan of album art in ID3 tags, and am glad to hear that there will a default one added to OCR tracks soon, this is something I was going to propose but clearly it's in the works, awesome!
  16. Jays already blew their first save, gonna be a long season!
  17. Man that was awesome, very well done, again, so many good TF2 offshoot videos!
  18. When I first listened I knew I had heard this before, that of course was the DoD version which I totally forgot about, which was quite a mistake on my part! Even though this isn't new (to a lot of people here anyway) it's still very awesome, the acoustic approach is perfect for this track, which I think probably takes a lot of people back to the early days of the snes. At the same time, it conveys a little more peaceful sense than the original, the guitar is just so tranquil here, with some nice variations from the source which work perfectly towards the end. I seem to recall it was nearly a year ago that I first heard this so it's very nice to see it make the cut here at OCR as well, no doubt in my mind that it belongs.
  19. I have enjoyed the movies I have seen in 3D (Avatar and Alice in Wonderland), but I definitely didn't think it was amazing or absolutely necessary to enjoy the experience. I did feel it was a positive thing which seems to be more than most people here can say, even though it was mostly "oh hey those ferns are in my face" and the over-used need to have things flinged in your face, but I still didn't "dislike" it.
  20. The pyro doing the promotion was hilarious, especially when it stands still and dies . Lots of good TF2 offshoot videos these days, and still so much for people to pull from to make more.
  21. Good variations from the source here, though you manage to keep it present as well while deviating in different ways throughout. Not a huge variety of instruments, but I think it works pretty well the way it is. I'm not very technical when it comes to music but I like what you've done. This is really low-key, and I'm not sure whether that would help or hinder it, but the quality certainly isn't bad and you have the all-important variation from the source covered.
  22. This is definitely one of my favorite sources from SoM, so, like the article mentioned, I'm glad I finally got around to checking this out. Much more upbeat than the original, with much different instrumentation, and yet it works so well. As usual I'm going to have to say that the flute parts are probably my favorite, aside from the intro, which I absolutely love. The intro really reminds of, also like the article, go figure, an oldschool movie, or perhaps even TV-show intro. I can picture it cutting to a bunch of characters doing their thing so coolly and calmly, with credits rolling, if you can visualize what I mean. Always nice to find old gems, and there are still so many I'm sure I haven't found!
  23. At this point I'm just hoping I get another Camera Beard to make a random hat, but I dunno if Camera Beard is back to being considered rare like a hat as far as it's drop rate goes.
  24. I thought it was nice to see that Richard really did come to the island on the Black Rock, and to have his immortality explained. My brother had mentioned that theory to me years ago now, not sure where he heard it but, especially after the "It's good to see you out of those chains" comment earlier in the season, it was nice to see this come true. As for his immortality, maybe all of the candidates are actually ageless/immortal now having been touched by Jacob, without realizing it (Jack certainly seems confident in any case). The episode itself wasn't quite as jaw dropping as I was hoping, we understand more about Richard but not a ton more about what exactly will happen now. I think my favorite outstanding question is what is Desmond doing? The fact that he disappeared off of the plane after talking to Jack in the opener makes it seem like maybe he is aware of the alternate timeline and was just "checking" to make sure Jack didn't remember him. Could a late Desmond episode be the big revealer, not unlike season 2?
